For those who love the genealogy Johnny Depp has old French origin from the North of France ( City of Dieppe) his ancestor immigrated to Canada in 1770 under the pseudonym "Dieppe" (man of Dieppe) as the family name is changed to arrive "Depp" when the family crossed the US border in 1820 . Picking Depp to play the ultimate simp of all, Louis XV, is a great touch. I also love how she laughs at the King pocking fun at the Cardinal and religion. The father she never knew was a Dominican friar. Having Zamor, the slave stolen from Bengal, who in-time, will betray her, which will lead to her execution, only for him to die in abject poverty, during the Bourbon Restoration, as a failed revolutionary.
Such poetic Justice. Reality is truly stranger than fiction.

This was normal. Only the highest members of the court were granted the honour of dressing the king. They were even present during the making of an heir. Life in Versailles was like taking part in a play. Everything was staged and high protocol.

I have seen portraits of Jeanne du Barry. The actress playing her looks nothing like her. She is far too old and her features are too angular for the role.
He didn't look like him either but we don't care. And portrait back in time were rarely realistic, artists were often told to make them you younger, more this or that.

I haven t watched the movie yet only the trailer, but I think it's fascinating to see still today the French court filmed in Versailles by Maiween of Louis 15. My specialty though was Louis 14. I did little studies at University on French history, and this movie seemed cautious, it was so many manners like and that time's moral, I liked the costumes, and I also liked the king's mimic at bed when he didn't feel fine that Johnny D acted, but I should t laugh at it,,....since I like the costumes and glance of Versailles, I'd probably watch it sooner or later, and I am accord of the good work of everyone and Johnny's acting even set to French, and Maiween's direction, I also liked the music ... but I d prefer it d to be something really funny caricatures little extravagant humor, . Maiween s acting was also good, she looked lovely in her manner and act, quite good, to special movie, but of course, it isn t easy to make humour in the History of anyone's roots and kings and queens today might not have the best lifes in and of, societal conditions I d put a 4.39 to 4.45 to the movie of 5 just of the trailer.
