What we did when we made lead. Drill holes in bottom of pan to your center to center that you want. Cut a pipes of the diameter of bolt you will use to the length to top of pan. Get a bolt and tighten pipes in your pan center to center. Pour in lead, let cool. No drilling and you keep pipe in lead. No lead gets on threads of bolts. Tighten up great.
I have a mold with solid pins welded at 12” centers, no drilling! I use candle wax, like tea light candles to flux the lead and clean it. Carbon coating the mold is a great tip!
Love the How To videos. I melted mine years ago with oldschool valvecovers and wheelweights. Worked perfect. But u gotta pick the metal clips out. I like the tip on the torch. It sure worked. Kerp up the good work and good luck this weekend.
I use to just use weight weights but the last few times I got them over half would be steel and not lead so now I avoid them. But they sure melted good when they were lead!
I use cutting oil. But I use ALOT! honestly any oil works for lead. It's bad about sticking to the drill bit so I dip the bit it oil a couple times while drilling.
I use a cast frying pan because it will hold heat much better. My heat source is similar to what you’re using. I use wheel weights the down side is you don’t get 100% lead
Kim bought it for me locally. We are wanting to do more multinight big shows and an open trailer just can't carry enough stuff and be able to secure it.
Just now getting fired up for the season. Shook the orange crush down last Sat and taking it to a double header " clash at the mag" June 16th and 17th. She'll be winning this year. We've got the hog leg in her we needed.
I spilled 30lbs of molten lead in the snow once….. exploded…. Now I just put a tall valve cover on the heater and fill it with lead and then let it cool

Now this idea. Yeah makes perfect sense 😀
The verbal and the visual way of doing it, is so spot on. I appreciate the time and effort you take with these videos.
Appreciate you watching sir

your about the third person saying use candle wax as my cleaner. I'm going to have to try it next time.
Sweet info on carbonizing the mold! Info like that is worth its weight in the lead you melting👍🏆
An old man showed me that trick many years ago.
We've melted lots of lead down for our cars but I never knew about the torch deal thanks.for yet another great video always teaching me something
Thanks Junior.
If you ever use Dawn Dish Liquid to lube you drill bit you’ll kick the oil to the curb. Works fantastic.
I need to try this!

that pudding on top is the impurities in the lead - slowly add some candle wax and mix real well then use a metal spoon to scoop it off the top
I did not know about candle wax acting as a collector of slag. Good to know.
If you fill 2”x 3” steel tube with lead it ends up being 2 lbs per inch and its a lot easier to mount
Good to know, thank you
Zinc does that. Alot of wheel weights have zink
Good to know. Also have to be real careful buying any scrap wheel weight now. Very little of it is lead in the last 20 or 30 years.
I haven't melted lead 30 years I do a little bit different but end up with the same result. Take care buddy
I could stand to have a bit hotter burner too but like you said, same result = success
Solid advice what’s your prefered method of drilling through them I heard dawn dish soap works well?

Your a good man I like the videos
Thank you Tristan
I wish I knew you were pouring lead I would've brought my sink or molds over and made some weights for deep dropping😂
Only if I get to go! Never been salt water fishing in my life. Its on my bucket list!
I see that trailer back there. Did that come from Alabama

Havent seen you in awhile have you won anything lately

Molten lead is not something to play with, that for sure!
That happen to me before it’s zinc.
It will be alittle soft but it still works 😂
I hadn't run into it in volume like that before but it formed up just fine.
You said a swear word finally! I caught it! LOL
Well It was hot!!!!
@DIRTRACELIFE I just ordered your turkey burner and wok set up. Not too pricey. This is another of your top videos!
IMO the bread pans make the best shapes for ballast blocks too
@@DIRTRACELIFE I need to call you. It will make sense why I bought the propane burner 😉
Plz after u melt ur lead take ur pan inside and make supper…shame he even had to say not to use it for food! Lol
Hey, assume nothing! Safety first 😉
