  • HTH GREEN TO BLUE. How to fix green pool water and turn it to blue.
    Green to Blue is a product from HTH to repair your pool water when too much algae has turned your pool to green. Green to Blue will shock your pool but it also has chemical to coagulate algae, dirt, etc to settle to the bottom of the pool so that you can easily vacuum the dirty unwanted sediments.
    Surprisingly HTH Green to Blue really works! It is not as fast as it claims to be clear within 24 hours... it took me about 3 days to make my pool from green to blue and crystal clear. Which is very good result in my opinion.

    You were supposed to put the brown powder in your basket and turn your pump on "to pool" / recirculate (so the powder is evenly distributed in a fine powder at the top of the water helping drag the algae down to the bottom)
    I just did it and forgot to switch the pump to recirc...had to backwash to get the stuff out of my filter sand then restarted the pump to run on recirc only for 1 hour.
    Them let the pool sit til tomorrow

    • @DIYGEEKTEXAS
      @DIYGEEKTEXAS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Blake Horn Basically we want to mix the powder into the water as well as possible. If your pool has recirculate (skipping the filter) then you can dump the powder into the skimmer/basket, however a lot of people do not have recirculate, in my case it was best to sprinkle the powder all over the pool. Let the pump runs for 3 - 4 hours while brushing / mixing up the pool water, algae, chemicals, etc... then turn it of overnight to let all the sediments clumps up and settle at the bottom of the pool.

      I came here looking for this solution. I didn’t read the bag and dumped it in. Now my filter is running weird. Do you know if this will ruin my sand filter?

    • @DIYGEEKTEXAS
      @DIYGEEKTEXAS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LinzLovesBingo No I don't think it will ruin your sand filter. I used to have a sand filter at my previous home, it is very long lasting. One for the powder coagulate / clumps up together the algae and dirt into more solid material. You were not suppose to suck that into your filter. If you have already, it is too late, you probably have to change the sand in your sand filter to restore the filtering efficiency of your sand pool filter. Buying replacement sand is cheap: amzn.to/3gaJeMq but the labor / time of draining and replacing the sand may cost more than material.

    • @LinzLovesBingo
      @LinzLovesBingo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DIYGEEKTEXAS I ran the filter when I first put it in so I don’t think it had time to clump up. There wasn’t algae. It was getting cloudy and did it as preventative maintenance. Filter will stay off until I can vacuum it all up. I feel stupid. I always read the directions. Not this time though. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    Hi. Another question, my pump also don't have circulation, where did you hook your vaccum blue hose? Did you hook to skimmer filter?

    • @DIYGEEKTEXAS
      @DIYGEEKTEXAS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I hooked the end of the vacuum hose to the skimmer. However you need to have a spout to dump the dirty water out instead of having it go through your pool filter and back to your pool. Here is a separate video how to install drain spout / hose bib. th-cam.com/video/te07f_4taIw/w-d-xo.html

    hi there, i loved the way you cleaned the pool, i am living in Katy TX too and have the same issue now. question? i have 20,000+ gallon pool, so one box of that product should be enough? also did you apply the second powder right after you pour the first powder? also i my pool dont have circulation, so if i run the filter for 1 hour is ok? thanks

    • @DIYGEEKTEXAS
      @DIYGEEKTEXAS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, 1 box of the product from HTC green to blue should be enough, my pool is around 25000 gallons I think. Yes also on the second question, I did not remember waiting between first and second powder. I do remember having to wait until next morning to let the powder mix and clump up with the algae. Hmm if you pool have no recirculation try to run only 30 min but you would want to try to mix up the powder yourself using your pool brush. Basically it is like adding sugar to your tea. You need to mix it up, but don't want to get those powder stuck on your pool filter.

    • @DIYGEEKTEXAS
      @DIYGEEKTEXAS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If your pool has a recirculation mode at the pump and valve, you can put it in the skimmer. My pool does not have recirculation if I put the powder in the skimmer most of it will get trapped in my pool filter. The goal is to get the powder mixed into the pool water anyway best you can.

      After you add flocculent you should mix in the water for only 30 min, then you should turn off your pump, keep the water still to let the heavy flocculent (which should be attached to the algae and stuff) to sink down to the bottom.

    • @DIYGEEKTEXAS
      @DIYGEEKTEXAS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Joey Yick Stop the robot vacuum. The robot vacuum can not vacuum (filter) enough to remove the algae from the water. You have to just vacuum/suck the bad algae water out of your pool. If you pool pump valve does not have DRAIN, you need to use regular vacuum head like I showed in video, or watch this video about using vacuum from skimmer: th-cam.com/video/JERKpM1Yg94/w-d-xo.html
      If all of the above is not possible, rent / buy a sump pump like this one ( amzn.to/3ORwREe ) to vacuum the algae sediments at bottom of pool.
