@ 32:25 ~ Supernatural ... Show launched in 2005. It has been my contention that the original concept and script were the imagination of someone wanting Hunter the Reckoning Light. It was 3 years prior to the game Vigil, and 3 years after the Video Game -- Hunter the Reckoning: Wayward. Clearly Dean is meant to be the Live Action TV adaptation of the Creed Book Wayward cover art. And the theme song; "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas.
I'm sad about the changeling part cuz I love changeling the dreaming my headcanon is that hunters can get along with changelings at least the good ones
Very true, I like hunter the vigil more too since it makes humans feel more human which makes the fact that they are facing the numerous other threats in WoD seen waaaay more impressive.
The thing I like of reckoning is precisely the moral ambiguity of "Are we humans? Do we have the right to do this?" Vigil honestly feels like they are too defenseless unless with endowments😅
@@georgelongcoal1117 I get your point, but Vigil has that "the world is dark, but how far can we go in protecting ourselves from it?" Its inspiring to be the underdog working to take down the vastly greater entities, using their will to live to fight these monsters that have grown used to prey that doesn't fight back. Real HFY vibes.
Nice job with the video. Well done! My only gripe with what you said is about the claim that hunters were OP. Mechanically they really were not… unless you went to very high level edges (and they came with quite an heavy price…). A vampire or a werewolf with stuff like potente, celerity or rage were often way beyond the ability of hunters to deal with directly
Hilariously changeling the dreaming stuff is mostly benign, so the likelihood of needing to fight anything from that book is pretty low unless a freakin dragon gets loose somehow without a Changeling stopping it upon spawning. Even more amusing, in chronicles, changeling the lost ends up causing hunters to decide if they want to protect changelings or not, most are innocent victims still being tormented by their former captors, gives a fun delima for hunters to pit against "figure out which changelings are actually in need of help and which have gone full looney and dangerous"
I haven't run/played hunter in a long time (15+ years), and a lot of the suggested supplemental stuff you mention didn't exist. I had my friends watch three particular films; boondock saints, brotherhood of the wolf, and frailty. Our games became more about dread, paranoia, and detective work. Combat was kind of rare, and usually very fast, bloody, and with lasting consequences for the hunters. Just about every character eventually lost either their life, limbs, liberty, or sanity. In a couple cases, combinations thereof.
I honestly think thats how a game of Hunter should be run, more like Call of Cthulu with a big focus on investigation and study, marching to direct combat with the city's Camarilla should be an act of suicide.
Cleave doesnt do Aggravated Damage. It does +2 to the weapon's base damage. If you use it to make a weapon from nothing or just charge your fists its Strength +2. When using Cleave the damage becomes Lethal. Waywards are a Vision creed.
I love this series and as a kid I played the video games never knew about the RP game nor the books and as an adult i want to get into the lore and tabletop to which I'm glad I found your channel because I thought I'd gotten to the series to late and it was dead it being so old and all but thankfully it isn't. I will definitely be eager to watch and learn from your videos
Love the vid! If your looking to pull some Fae for your game,I really suggest Lost over Dreaming. Lost is just darker and more applicable to the themes in Reckoning. Even if a Changeling is not a monster, their True Fae pursuers certainly are. An utterly innocent Changeling could still bring the most powerful monster next to Azrael right to a city near you.
That's because in HtR they didn't need to address it. All damage past bashing to mortals is lethal. When crossing over game lines, however, it's aggravated to other supernatural who recognize that kind of damage.
I found it funny how you view those hunters classified as innocents. Sure they can be annoying but they aren't all that bad with their brand of guiltless Jaded morality. Why am I skinning the werewolf alive? Cause I'm just trying to help damnit! Clear away the furry top coat and maybe you'll start feeling better!

If Dean is a Wayward, does that make Sam a Defender or Redeemer? Because let's not forget he had at least two demon girlfriends and a Kitsune.
@@Animalover205 = LoL!! You are definitely on it. Good call.
Very excited for the video. Hunter was one of the less known owod splats until very recently.
Ah, so that's where Hunter the Parenting came from
One year later and I FUKKING LOVE coming back to this video!
Good God, it's been a year??
@@TheBotchPit yes brother and I'm coming back for more of your epic stories! Have a great blessed year mate!

I'm sure they can, changelings are very benign, and hunters aren't as one note as people seem to write them most of the time.
*Merry Christmas to all! And to all, a good hunt!*
great video, I just started a Hunter the vigil game but hunter the reckoning looks really fun too, Merry Christmas
I vastly prefer Hunter the Vigil, but its always good to see the less popular WoD lines getting notice. Great vid.

@@TheDemiurgeJ Understandable, have a nice first day of the year!
No way, not for me. Reckoning is way cooler. Especially once you wrap your mind around how humans were becoming Imbued. Makes it way cooler to me.

This was awesome, and sharing it with my players helped them get into the mood a lot. Thanks man, you just earned a new subscriber!
Excellent video
Dean Winchester is supposed to be a defender, sam Winchester is supposed to be a visionary and there father was an avenger
Great job with the video Chris.
Thank you!

it's so crazy I just picked up H5 a week ago
Can't wait for more
Have to hit 5E first, but then I'll also hit on the original as it's so distinctive and loved on its own.
What's the background music/ambience you are using?
I was just about to ask the same thing 🤭 I'd love to be able to use it for my Cthulhu game 🙏
@@Wee-SnawI've been trying to look for it all over TH-cam but no luck
I'll try to find it again.

Kind of.

In time for the announcement of the new hunter? Hell yeah. Should I check out the old print or wait for the new one?
The new HtR 5e is getting rid of the Imbued part of the game. They are turning it into a HtV game.
I happen to really like H5. Different.
Are you going to do a comparison video between this and 5th edition?
A little late, but definitely have a H5 coming out. I'll likely try to avoid the comparisons, just because they're almost nothing alike.
Small correction: it’s Mindhunter, not Manhunter.
Thank you, my bad!
Funnily enough, manhunter was the title they gave to the first film adaptation of red dragon, the first novel to feature hannibal lector.
damn just found this and it was great, sucks theres no more though, you sounded like you'd make more in the outro
Not done yet! Just been handling life stuff. Lol
@TheBotchPit oh so they are in the works? I'm excited for it, but no worries man hopefully whatever you dealing with soon
The creator of supernatural based the show off of hunter the reckoning
So do both the hunters of this and the vigil exist in the same world, or is this taken as two different cannons?
Two different game lines. Chronicles of Darkness and World of Darkness are different worlds.
Cleave doesn't do aggravated damage though it's lethal?
That's because in HtR they didn't need to address it. All damage past bashing to mortals is lethal. When crossing over game lines, however, it's aggravated to other supernatural who recognize that kind of damage.
It would be nice if you could talk a bit slower it seems you Rush it
I'll note that, and work on it. Discipline is hard. Lol

That's a solid view right there.
Okay what is with all of the Hunter videos having people who refuse to get pop filters for their mics? I swear I can jear the saliva with every word.
Even when I spit I shine.
What alternate mode is?? What's the difference?? Can some one please explain to me.
