I remember Lisa Ling reporting on Channel One during my 90’s high school years…she made me more interested in international news, politics, diplomacy, and culture. Always a great reporter!!

Knowing she was only 26 when she started The View just drives home how REALLY young she was on Channel 1, which aired in my homeroom every day at the start of school at my Jr. High & High School, bringing us all the daily national news our divided-attention-minds could handle.

I’ve been following Lisa Ling’s career since the mid 90s. I love her story telling, not to mention she’s intelligent and beautiful. Truly a remarkable woman. I will always watch or read anything by Lisa Ling.

I personally feel that everything that Lisa Ling is attached to, or even just associated with, is made better by her involvement. IMO "This is Life with Lisa Ling" and "60 Minutes" are two of the most important shows to watch and dominate my Sunday nights. Obviously "60 Minutes" does not involve Lisa Ling...but it should!

Take Out is such an engaging show. I binged the entire season in one day. I hope there’ll be more seasons to come. Lisa is an incredible interviewer and she and her crew are bringing so many unheard of bits of Asian American history to light that many of us AAPI folks didn’t know - even about our own ethnicities’.

Love the Prince story. He’s such a private person, it’s likely he was just concerned that she would be willing to discuss their conversations in the future. Which is perfectly understandable because she divulged info about her past boyfriend.
No judgement there for either of them, just saying that’s likely what happened. So it’s not that weird given how intensely private and shy Prince could be.
She obviously led him on and acted like she didn't know.

I love Prince and I absolutely LOVE that Prince story. VERY reflective of his ego and character. You can tell that the audience was a bit uneasy with Lisa speaking so candidly about Prince.
Yeah and Prince went rollerblading with people at midnight ..He was like that with every-one YET he respected her and they just talked..Classy guy...he had a deep respect for women.
Can you imagine being in her shoes through this? OMG…I actually remember seeing Lisa on stage at the end of one of Prince’s concerts at Paisley Park and he actually gave her the microphone for a second. She didn’t really sing into it.
Yea but she also mentioned he was interested in having deep discussions about philosophy, life, abstract things...meaning he also had an intellectual side and a deep curiosity. No doubt he was interested in her, but i think more so for her brains, though she is easy on the eyes, and much more so when she was in her 20s. Lisa's got it all - beauty, brains, class. Her parents have raised her well. She is an American treasure.

It was the year 1998, i was a freshman in highschool, and it was 1st period. They turn on the class tv and there she is, Lisa Ling on Channel 1 news for highschool kids. she looked like maybe a senior and FINE as hell. She looks the exact same as i remember her the first time i saw her almost 25 years ago

Thought I'd step up for Joy as well on this one. Many people at that table kowtow to Whoopi, and Whoopi is like a dog with a bone when they don't. Whoopi does not simply disagree... She TELLS people in a very aggressive and self-righteous manner that their view is wrong. Lisa Ling is not someone who peddles in conspiracy theories or conducts herself in an offensive manner like other guests/hosts that Whoopi has tangled with in the past, and I think Lisa's poise and intelligence makes Whoopi feel insecure. I had the same impression when Sunny first joined The View. Whoopi constantly went after Sunny in a mean-spirited manner, which I think reflected a degree of insecurity on Whoopi's part. Lisa chose not to back down multiple times in the same conversation (kudos), which I think led to Joy's response. As someone who has navigated the show under Whoopi's rule, I think Joy was just trying to give Lisa a survival tip for lasting the week. Again, just my "view"... See what I did there? 😉 Be well, everyone.

Chuckled at Ling's lack of self awareness... Kimmel was polite enough not to mention. Likely, Prince objected to the fact that Ling would be discussing their relationship on National Kimmel 20 years later.

Much respect to the prior, current residents and foodies! Side note: If you love architecture, and Monarca bakery/cafecito, Boyle Heights has a gorgeous Monarca corner location near Mariachi Plaza (and 10Min drive away from Olvera St). Happy eating Boyle Heights?
