    You are the godly child child from the musical god to a novice like me. No one else has simplified the music theory like you have done. A heartfelt thank you. ❤

    The information is really easy to understand the way you explain it Chad, you are a very good teacher. I just wish I knew how to actually use this information and how to practically apply it... (I feel like having the tools but not knowing how to apply them) could it be that music isn't meant for me? but I truly love music so I'll never give up, even If I don't get where I want to be. :(

  • @hiighcalibre

    Teaching the circle of fifths too early is a piano thing. It's necessary for them to count their sharps/flats if they want to play in another key and worthless for a guitarist who can just slide up a couple of frets and play the same pattern.
    It has some uses for song writing or figuring out your I/IV/V chords at a glance (but that's easy to do on the fretboard), definitely not something I would more than mention in passing to a first year guitarist.

    I'm glad you're leaving the circle of fifths for later, I saw another series that taught it early on and it was way too much, wen't from 0-100 real fast and encouraged me to find a different series (this one).

    • @Moveforwardguitar
      @Moveforwardguitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I think the circle of fifths can be super confusing and unnecessary for a lot of stuff. Glad you found the series. Thanks! -Chad

    Sir why is there E# note in F# scale.Does it exists ?

  • @nidgeontour257
    @nidgeontour257 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    If your writing down the notes of a lick which one do you write? You come across an accidental, so do you write for eg A# or Bb or C# or Db to work out which scale or key its from? I'm thinking AC/DC Sin City and the 2nd lick the ascending run starting on the G string. Has a few in there? Thanks

  • @heisencybin5594
    @heisencybin5594 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Oh wow this is a lot easier than memorized acronyms for circle of fifths. thanks! do you get paid for making these videos and worksheets? no commercials and you just give out for free? not that I'm complaining! but this is the type of stuff someone would charge 50 bucks an hour to teach

    • @Moveforwardguitar
      @Moveforwardguitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Everything on TH-cam is free but we sell courses on our site as well. The goal though is for our free content to be better than most people's paid content. Thanks for the comment! -Chad

    so is the major scale based off the circle of 5ths?

  • @Madrid_Card_

    How would you find flats and sharps on the minor scale ?

  • @parisdblack1711
    @parisdblack1711 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for sharing this information. I have learned most of this sporadically and all over the place, but these videos have put things in order. I just have one question and that is during the scale videos you mentioned that you would teach how to actually practice scales. Where can I find that information? Thank you!

    • @Moveforwardguitar
      @Moveforwardguitar  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad the vids are helping. I'm in the process of creating comprehensive scale courses but for now here are the lessons I have on how to play scale patterns th-cam.com/play/PLDNPXoSAAaRIFJvNfJkXLtYjbTZjQZjoG.html Thanks! -Chad

    what's the purpose to find all sharps and flats here? Thanks Chad for the effort :)

    • @Moveforwardguitar

      It's important so you know what notes are in each Major scale. Thanks! -Chad

  • @sumanrai1508
    @sumanrai1508 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    i learned before that the E & B note have no any sharps then why E# on f#major scale.....? could u please explain the conditions?

    • @Moveforwardguitar
      @Moveforwardguitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Technically there is no E# note on the guitar, its really just an F note (half step up from E is F). But when you build any Major Scale you need to include all the note names in the musical alphabet (A-B-C-D-E-F-G). So it wouldn't be F#-G#-A#-B-C#-D#-F-F#. That F has to be labeled as an E# so that it includes all of the notes in the musical alphabet. I know that's confusing but I wouldn't get too hung up on it for now. Thanks! -Chad

    • @sumanrai1508

      thank you sir .....i am keen to know about modes further....suppose in c major scale C D E F G A B C ,
      this c major scale is the Ionian mode of it....and i think 6th degree of c major is obviously relative A natural minor which is known as Aeolian mode of it.....so ionian refers to major scale, aeolian refers to natural minor scale....accepting these two modes we still have 5 more modes(dorian, phrygian ,lydian,mixolydian,locrian) on other side...do they refer to any particular scale like.. Ionian(major scale) and Aeolian(natural minor scl) mode?

    • @Moveforwardguitar
      @Moveforwardguitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, Ionian and Aeolian are the only two. The names for the other modes are their common names. Thanks! -Chad

    • @Moveforwardguitar

      You can call it circle of 4ths. I prefer circle of 5ths and cycle of 4ths but it doesn't matter. Thanks! -Chad
