    Once it's up & running, costs will be forgotten, and the convenience of getting between the airport and Waikiki will be a hugely positive change.

      Keep saying that, it's just the nature with infrastructure especially nowadays. Same with the Japanese bullet trains the two champions of it actually stepped down during the construction of the initial Osaka-Tokyo line due to cost overruns. Billions of passengers in the decades since with zero fatalities and many expansions later shows they have obviously been vindicated.
      It would not surprise me one bit to see work quickly start on extensions.

    Wow this project is amazing! While expensive, which to be honest is expected in america, it will definately be a great addition to the city.

    11 BILLION dollars. That is 550 million dollars per mile. Doesn't look like it will be finished any time soon. But it looks good.

    Is any of the system in service yet, or are they waiting to open the entire system at one time?

      there's three phases for opening, but they're trying to get the main part up and running first.
