  • Ramsgate has an abandoned hovercraft port so of course we had to go and explore this hidden gem on the Kent coast.
We park up at Pegwell Bay and invite you to join us as walk around the Kent coast to Cliffsend near Ramsgate where there are not 1 but 2 astonishing sights to see. First of all we stop at the replica Viking long ship perched on top of the cliff before heading down the stairs to walk around the abandoned hover port.
This once bustling gateway to Europe linking the southeast of England to France is now left totally abandoned and despite the majority of the structures having been demolished still makes for a fascinating adventure. Join us as we try to put the pieces of the abandoned port back together discovering old roads, floor markings, the old slipway, abandoned footbridge and much more.

    ⭐ More About Us ⭐
We're Jason & Josh, welcome to our World. We upload brand new vlogs every day so whatever we get up to you are right there with us.
We love to travel so we are always on days out, road trips around England or exploring our home county of Kent & hopefully one day soon, back on a plane to far away places. We also love a bit of Disney round here so you will often see a bit of the magic sprinkled in to our day.
Whilst we are nearly always on an adventure & living life at a fast pace, we do occasionally take some time to chill and invite you in to our home with Josh's mum Fiona and our 9 cats for an insight in to our daily life.

Thanks for that video - brilliant. In 1972 it was my 13th birthday, and my treat, a day trip to Calais on Hoverlloyd from Ramsgate. The hovercraft, from what I remember, was huge and very noisy. It was quite a bumpy ride too. I think there were two in operation. My parents and I were staying in Broadstairs for the week. Facilitating to see what has become of the hoverport, and it seems slowly given back to nature. I'm not sure I have any photos from that day sadly. If I do they are probably buried away in some boxes somewhere. l will have a look. BTW, love your videos :)

The Viking ship is cool and in a really unexpected place. Would love to go on a hover craft just to experience it.

That would be interesting to see or explore. Looks like you had a great day. Although I'm not quite sure what a hover port is used for. With all thoes trees and plants it almost looks like a maze

An interesting vlog - you two have a passion for exploring 😉 Fun fact: The Viking ship was build in Denmark. In July 1949 - 51 tall, blond, blue eyed men crossed the North Sea - sailed up the Themes to London and was greeted at Tower Bridge before returning to Ramsgate, Here the landing was filmed and a clip was later used in an episode of Doctor Who 🤓😁

Love it going on an urban exploration - can't believe how overgrown the hover port has become since we went there last time

Maybe a visit to the Hovercraft museum at Lee on Solent open on Saturdays. One of the big Hovercraft in museum which operated on this route. It’s a good day trip Portsmouth to Isle of Wight on a Hovercraft

That was an interesting site, can only imagine what it looked like back in the day. I liked the Viking Long Ship replica, looked real from a distance. I noticed another vlog on TH-cam entitled Ramsgate Tunnels-Above&Below Tours. From the picture it looks like it is a guided tour which you may not like.

You asked about the words on the road and you could read “cars” - my guess is underneath, it would have said “Keep Left” so that any “foreign visitors” who had taken their cars on the Hover and would be driving in England would be aware that they will be driving on the left hand side of the road and not the right!
I went once on the Hover way back in 1973/4 with my mum, sister - who is not a “good” traveller 😉 my bro in law and their toddler son ….. unfortunately, from the moment the Hovercraft hit the first wave on our trip to Calais my sister was very “illl” 🥺 and just moaned and groaned all the way to the Calais Hoverport! We spent the day in Calais with my sister, whose complexion during the day, wavered from deathly white to green, and I had visions of having to stay in Calais forever as my sister was refusing to get on the Hover to go back to Ramsgate! 😂 (and I won’t mention my sister and the “French Toilet”!! 😱😂)
