- Did Repackers RUIN The Dallas Card Show? How do you compete at 90%-120% payout?
Welcome to another Dallas Card Show Vlog. Today we have competition. The repackers in sports cards are paying 90-110% while most dealers used to pay 70-80%? The struggle is real. I do have to say we pivot well and buy what we can, but this is the most competitive dallas card show I can recall since 2021.

The repackers in sports cards are paying 90-110% while most dealers used to pay 70-80%? The struggle is real. You need to be more self aware IMO… because you’re upset that people are actually paying what a card is worth, so you aren’t able to give someone 70% of what it’s worth, and then go resell it… a lot won’t have sympathy for you on that…
You really gotta take a moment and think about how what you’re upset about is looking…
‘I can’t make money and offer people less than fair value… because people are willing to pay the cards value’ - not a great complaint IMO.

Repackers provide competition against all of you resellers doing 70-80%. I think all of you buying for 70-80% hurts the hobby more as people then constantly expect those prices and it creates a crash.

Most resellers buy offline though. They buy at 80%, but there is no visibility to those sales. It doesn't affect the comp.
The people who hurt the hobby are the people looking for quick sales and just auction everything. Kills alot of comps. I've sold 150% of comps just simply waiting on buy it now prices.
Paying 100% just makes more people want to become resellers. The "repackers" are few and far between, and they buy 10x from resellers and direct online than they ever can at a show individually. The price of hiring someone is often not worth more than just paying the resellers the prices.
Now, anytime we go to buy, we get “I’ll just hold it. Repackers will pay 100/120%.” 70-80% days may be gone
it really just be like that right now. The market is DOWN. But repacks are saving a lot of these cards.
If repacker paying top dollar. Great for the hobby.
Never understood paying below comps for a card. If the card is worth “x” amount then why not pay “x” amount.
Comps are for those who have no clue. Just because someone was willing to buy or sell a card at a certain price, doesn't mean the next person or seller will do the same.

Didn't meet any repackers paying 100-110% at Dallas. I did deals with them 80-90% which is fine. I think repackers is cash injection for the hobby. They're focused on numbers instead of collectability. The play now is to do buy outs early, buy off customers, or go to smaller venues to get inventory. I usually ask repackers what range they're looking for. You don't have to sell if you don't agree to the comps.
Packs/boxes are way too expensive these days. Anyone opening new at retail prices even in breaks is losing guaranteed.
I think most people is ripping to make a profit instead of just collection. The 'hobby' has changed in the past 20 years, it is now a business

This is what’s ruining the hobby lol. People buy into breaks at ridiculous prices when they could just buy the case hit they’re chasing lol.

Lord forbid People buying cards for how much they are worth and not lowballing people. If you can't afford the cards and are Haggling every table you are a walking headache that should be buying from shop goodwill.
It’s the reseller mentality
Buying a PSA 5 and cracking to sell as a raw is a horrible thing to do. Can't claim to be doing good for the hobby and doing that.
Diversify and do some repacking yourself if that is where the money is at. Leverage your brand. The market is actually good if there are more buyers...
You are saying repackers pay 100-120% from comps, why they bother going to the shows instead of buying from eBay or other marketplaces at comps? Also sounds like a great idea to sell them your inventory if they really go up to 120% from comps. Buy lots at some discounts online and go to shows just to sell to repackers? What’s the point to run a business to sell cards at comps if you can just drop your cards to repackers?
The sports cars market is pretty competitive right now...but there are different sections of the hobby and some of those sections are a little easier to find deals in. Always buy what no one is talking about yet ✅️...modern vintage will be worth big money in the next few years. Especially serial numbered RCs and HOFers.

I don't do 70 to 80% comps. If I sell something I want what it's worth. That stalls the hobby and causes a down turn in values. If repackers are buying over comps that's great for the hobby

The hobby is definitely crazy right now. Best advice is don't chase the hype and just collect what you like. Chances are the stuff you like, others may also like. At the end of the day if the market drops, atleast you get what you like.
kudos to the repackers at least they keep the value of those cards up and not down as a collector i like to see my cards stay at true value when you guys buy 80% comps and sell at 85%90%comps you guys help to lower the value of those cards to quick 😭😭

$1-$300 CARDS TO THE MOON they are definitely more affordable for non flippers Majority of the people at card shows have about $50 to spend.
Revolving door. Original owner sells to flipper at 70% of lowest sale ever made. Flipper then sells same card at lowest comp. Thus creates new lower values for card. Supply demand from auctions help drive up price.

Repackers are keeping the hobby alive, all y’all searching to under pay hurts it. Just like trade in value with a dealership.
I now have a regular table in the room behind Heritage display...I am by the door before Main room...the guy that sells Jerseys is in corner across from me...We can work out some deals...I have sold out both shows...I am there Thursday, Sat, and Sunday
For the hobby repacks are bad but if you’re selling it’s good to know people will pay your price instead of people trying to tell U to lower your prices.
tbh love the content but if someone buys at 100% or 120% comps you can't be salty. That's the hobbys fault for letting people get away with robbery at 70%. Why would i want to sell my card for 700 when i can get 1000? So you can make an extra 300$? How does that make sense?? xD REPACKERS are keeping the hobby ALIVE,
It’s called inflation brotha. Which means you’re just going to have to raise your prices whether you, I or anyone else wants to or not. Which ultimately means the dip of the card market is now bottoming out. Everything is ALWAYS Supply vs Demand. Just wait till Topps and Fanatics tries to grow the card market by 10%. What do you think will happen to cards right now that you or others might be thinking are expensive🤔🤔🤔 Much love keep up the good work!
I always get a good laugh at people who willingly pay over $500 for a nba player who ended the season 48th in scoring, 50th in assists and not even top 50 in rebounds. Instead of paying $300 for a card and selling it for let's say $340, why not buy raw, get it graded and then sell it. Wouldn't that give you a bigger return on your investment? I don't sell cards, just collect, so i'm just curious. I do enjoy your videos though.

It Started with Panini Replay 2015-16 It was so terrible that who hobby shops who bought cases of it got reimbursed with a new product which was Mosaic at the time. But the Replay products has the Curry True RPA /99 in the chase.

Unreal that you think that a good marketing strategy is to lie. That tells me all I need to know about Mojo sports cards?. Listening to your buddy say Break it out of a PSA 7 slab and sell it to the repackers. Whatever happened to having character?
I've been saying it for years. There's only "so much meat on the bone"! Problem is, there are very few pure collector's...most are buying to resell. Eventually, they are selling at a loss, breaking-even, or stuck with the card. Also, as newer cards/players get released, the older cards lose their value. Glad I'm not "playing the game"!
I am a hard core, life long collector, I buy purely for the enjoyment and usually hold on to my cards for years. But often I come across great avenues to add liquidity and profit 📈, so I feel you have to take those opportunities even when it means moving on from cards you love.

There are cards other than Kabooms and case hits. If repackers werent part of the hobby, then there would be a lot less interest. And the race to the bottom would be a lot quicker. EVERYONE is always out here looking to pay 70% on things and get a good deal. That is why prices tank. Its the gamblers and the collectors that keep prices higher. Its the resellers that drop prices.

Repackers are basically facilitating a gamblers itch. The allure of hitting a big cards means people will pay a premium and be happy to get less for their money if it means they have a chance to hit big. Similar to why people are paying so much for unopened product right now.

So reseller's should pay comps only to hopefully get comps, or maybe get lucky and have 1/25 guys increase in value? That's a losing business model. Repackers are certainly prevalent at big shows for sure, but local 50-100 table shows I very seldom see them, and none offering over 80%.
@@SwanseaGCOCK I get that but I just think its contradictory to sham people who pay comps because they are buying products that you cant pay less for so you can make money off somebody else's property. I don't have a problem either way but I think it's nuts for one to negatively comment on the other and vice versa.

Streamers who repack cards into mystery boxes and for example charge $100 for your chance to get a $250 card or a $40 card. Gambles
Who you gonna sell to at 100% comps, when you buy at 70-80%, if it weren’t “repackars” as the ones buying at 100%?… I’m not a seller at all, just wondering where the logic is?

It’s funny since you are a reseller as well. Repackers are resellers like you. Just a different way of selling. I know you collect as well but I pretty much am only a collector. Paying high amounts when you know your not flipping is tough. The hobby is in a different place. It’s cool at the same time but makes it difficult to collect as well.

Basically all the big breakers send buyers to buy cards for mystery packs for cards.
Maybe grading fees will go down if flippers start putting cards into packs instead of slabs.
i feel like the raw stuff is raw for a reason... prolly psa 8 or chipping etc. case hits are tough to grade

they buy case hits, big cards and sell them in mystery packs at a chase for the chasers
Most call it a scam or a gamble. Say they sell 10 boxes at $100 each and pack 1 with a $150 card and 9 with a $50 card. They made $400 profit. They can ay around with the values of the box but they have lots of wiggle room for buying because their margins are big.
They scam the phuck out of people. Everyone I’ve bought has been below the floor they claimed or damaged cards
