Hi Bill, I just scored one of these Bachmann 2MT's. Very second hand. Assured it Ran Well..! Of course it didn't but your little video gave me the the Nerve to take the body off & give it Some TLC, it now at least Trundles around my Layout. With a little Oil & Grease. I fear at some point, I or IT will need new Axles & Gears. So a Split Chassis Dismantle Video would help me out no End. But for now it Runs, (with a Wobble) but makes in around my track..! The Guts of these Bachmann Split chassis are Akin to Black Magic. Think in future I will stick with Hornby ( not that they are perfect Either..!) But Ho Hum its All Good Fun..!😂😡😱 Cheers Kim in OZ. 🦘
The Loco Doctor…..that certainly became a big operation………you deserve a lot of praise for your work ethic Bill…..another healthy loco returned to service.
A brilliant video bill, you must have patience of a saint and the knowledge you have is incredible. Can’t wait for your next video also your layout is taking shape nicely. Many thanks Michael
Bill, though I'm a Yank, through a few Brit modelers such as yourself, Tony Wright, Jenny Kirk and others, + lots of 1:1 scale videos, thanks to you all I've developed a liking for British railroading, something I shied completely from as a younger, US-only, modeler.. Here's an Idea I just thought of for your 300th video.. Instead of doing any repair, what about you bringing out your very fav locos and rolling stock and running them for us..I.E. just a running session and the layout itself..You deserve to show off the best of your own roster. I think we'd all enjoy that.. Thanks for all the very entertaining and educating times you've shared. M, Los Angeles
That was a struggle. Well done Bill, another loco saved from the scrapyard. Remembering your old layout, this new one is certainly a massive step up and it looks brilliant.
Well done Bill really enjoy your Videos, I do the same thing for our Model Train Club here in Perth Western Australia (AMRA WA) all the best Bill from WA
Well this was good timing. I have two of these to service. Both need new axles. I predict plenty of mumbled swearing is in the offing. Thanks for the video Bill, hopefully I can steer clear of removing the running gear.
Funnily enough Bill I had the same experience this week with the 12v ventilator motor in my LG fridge freezer this week 😂. It was making an appalling noise and basically the motor shaft was wobbling around all over the place. Why would you put a brass bearing on one end of the motor and a plastic one on the other? Baffles me. I guess if I’d asked a shop to quote me a repair they’d have just told me to replace the fridge. As it was I got away with a couple of hours work and a £25 part. Love the new layout!!
A truly Epic episode of 00Bill - one for the connoisseur. Bachmann re-wrote the book regarding loco detailing, but it took them a little longer to master the design and manufacture of robust mechanisms.
Have an a4 tender drive with jerky running.couldnt find the problem and went through your videos and you had same problem that it was oil on the locomotive axels.cheers bill as I would never have fixed it.
Very well done on the editing and presentation.... Your in depth knowledge and experience made a very nice operating loco... You earned a beer on this job...🙂✅👍🇳🇿
Hi Bill, I have 2 of those loco's Bought new 20 years ago. They have sat in their boxes and have never been run. I think if I an find them I will need to check their axels before I ever attempt to run them. Another interesting video.
excellent video; I have one of these with the split chassis, its heavy and is a very sweet runner; I'm curious as to what that wee red tool is that you use on the wheels?
I would like an Ivatt also, but I don’t have a very good track record with mainline split chassis, and so therefor avoid Bachman steam locos wherever possible - Also I find the Price of these Models Astronomical, and I wouldn’t be a happy Bunny if I had problems like this after spending £60 or more. Well done for Havinna abash at this Brother your a braver man than me 👍🏻✨
Really enjoyed this one It certainly was difficult I have a couple of Bachmann split chassis locos and really want to keep them going I’d be really interested in how to take them apart and service them properly
Looking good. I had a similar experience with a slightly later model of that same loco. The soldered pick-up on the front bogie is commonplace and takes care to not melt the plastic when re-soldering. They do require patience!
What a nightmare that turned into, most people would have given up on it, well done. I see you have a new silicon Matt to work on, great idea, how do you find it ?
hi bill you service loco,s up to 60 plus years old and you dont seem to have problems with cracked axles and parts that just disintegrate, the problem it seems with newer models...............jpj
Those axle gear sets cost $25.00 to ship to the US. I don't understand why Bachmann usa doesn't carry these parts. Peter also wants 25.00 to ship them. Such a shame for British railroad enthusiasts here in the states !

Excellent!
Also, "The tweezers have gone the way of the manky brush" ought to become a common greeting.

You definitely set the bar to a very high level Bill. Meticulous repairs linked to very well explained repair process. Outstanding.

Split chassis repairs do my head in, but the locos are cheap to buy. This vid helped lots thanks, amazing layout too

Your dedication to getting everything correct is inspiring. Great work!

Good to see old stalwarts of the hobby, United Dairies & Arnolds Sands, wagons getting an outing.

Another one saved great job 👏

It would be great to see a detailed video of the split chassis
Great patience and skill....this model is by far my favourite loco...
Another excellent video. I like the winter scene on half the layout. How long before the cow’s return?

Hi bill what are the two ammeters that I keep seeing in your videos.
Michael
split chassis video would be great, i have alot of mainline locos
Really enjoyed this one
It certainly was difficult

Good job! I hope the building work, went well?
Fantastic 00Bill as always 👍🏻
Got flying Scotsman here with broken wire aswell any help thanks
What’s the name and part number for the piece you had to replace. I have a V1 with the same part broken
hi bill you service loco,s up to 60 plus years old and you dont seem to have problems with cracked axles and parts that just disintegrate, the problem it seems with newer models...............jpj
Well, I call that a success. Good one!
good vid on the channel nice fix thanks lee

If you enjoy working on split chassis models as much as I do then much of the video would be nothing but beeps.
