And , that is like an October or November amount of snow. I hope you guys get some more. We were lucky to get 3 1foot plus storms early in the season here in the Colorado mountains; but it hasn't really snowed since Christmas. We are supposed to get a foot or two this weekend......fingers crossed! Fortunately, it has been cold enough that we still have most of our early snow on the ground.

Then to pitch subsequently, start with a temporary peg where you want the centre pole, then peg out starting from the door using the radius of the string! Will be perfect first time

    It has been ridiculously warm here in Vancouver as well ... no snow at all this year, and for a La Niña winter we should have had a huge dump. I think we only had. Sub zero temperatures once this entire season. Usually we get a week that approaches double digit negatives ... so far I’d argue we have been 5-10C above average with a terrific amount of rain.

    Hello Michael. I envy you for the many opportunities Canada offers you. Yes, I was once too stupid and had the opportunity to switch professionally to Canada.
    Your new Stove is far too complicated. I like quality and that I can install something quickly, no matter what the weather. Plastic feet in the bush, no. They are fools and not professionals.
    I love the relationship that exists between you and your dogs. Just now, with Esme, only one +++++
    Laugh, the poor mouse, the smell and then way too warm. I know that, my Mastin and I often had a barbecue at night, a snack and we both enjoyed the peace and quiet.

      Hi Gerold - Yes I made the right decision to move to Canada. The UK and Europe have been changing rapidly over the last 20-30 years and not for the better. Canada offers many opportunities to people who want to build a new life. The culture is very mixed with lots of nationalities that get along great. My wife's family is from German decent 🇩🇪 The stove is ok for warmer weather and for backpacking. A bigger heavier stove is more desirable for cold weather as you know 👍 I wish I could print in metal and not plastic but that technology is not available for my budget "yet" 😉 Sorry to hear about your Mastin - I'm sure he had a great life with you and he loved you very much 🙏 All the best from Canada! 🇨🇦

    Nice stove, but I wish it were a little more assembly-friendly. The section pipe assembly on your other stove seemed much more satisfying, but this stove's efficiency is quite impressive also. Also nice to be able to see the fire. The little light globes are nice, but their ads are deceptive as to size. Until you introduced one, a short while back, I didn't realize they were that small. I had thought they were more the size of a muskmelon. Still, they seem to give good light... Very satisfying trip, overall.

I actually like the glass front more that I thought I would! Gives a nice glow to the tent. The Olight Obulbs are smallish but I'm not sure I would want them any bigger. Having 4 of them lets me light the whole tent and they make taking pictures much better during the night 👍

    Top tip with the tripod Michael, thanks, I shall use that next time I use one.
    Also the feet you made for the stove, great idea.
    How does the fan/s work? Does the bottom heat up on the stove and produce enough heat to rotate the fans? I might have to get one for mine.
    A question mate. I purchased a temp gauge that is meant to pop on to the flue pipe but unfortunately the pipe isn’t magnetic, any ideas on how I can attach it? Thanks mate, here’s to your next hot tent 👍

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad it was helpful Ant! Thats exactly how the fan works - the differential between the hot bottom and the cold top generates an electrical current that drives the motor. This fan also keeps the top cold continuing the cycle. 304 Stainless is not magnetic. You could try using some brass wire to hold it on, or if you are handy, rivet a small curved steel plate (3cm x 3cm) to the pipe section you want to mount the thermometer.

    Hi Michael and Esme!! Today jan 24 in Thetford Mines, Québec, It's -20c ( -30c with wind factor). Maybe not the best tent and stove for this type of weather but better that not having any!! Still, a great video to watch , I truly enjoyed! Speaking of winter equipement, the government of Québec has determined that for a month ( jan to feb) clothing is considered a non-essentiel good, thus illegal to buy in a local store. But on the other hand, the government facilities selling alcohol and pot is wide open....The fines for people being outside of their properties from 20h to 5h are between 1500 and 6000 dollars. A Ministerial Decree has put in force The War Measure Act overpowering the charter of rights and liberty. I'm aware that this channel is not appropriate for this type of comment, but it puts in perspective how lucky we are to have acces to nature and be able take a break from it all and most important of all, have a thought and compassion for those who can't.

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stéphane - thank you for the comment!! My only hope is that the people of Canada and especially Québec, will remember what was done "to them" by the government - without public consent. I'm a firm believer that history does not repeat itself but sometimes it rhymes. We have seen this before in Europe and other places and it does not lead to anything good. Denying people clothing with plummeting temperatures is truly idiotic but allowing them to drink and take drugs is ok. If I hadn't witnesses this play out personally in my lifetime, I would never believed this would happen in Canada, especially in Québec. I am lucky to be in Alberta where they have "mostly" been reasonable restrictions. Lets hope this is over soon and we can get to the ballot box 👍
