I think a great episode topic would be "Lost Treasures." I think Nate would absolutely love this topic! You could talk about the stories behind different missing treasures, their values, and go from there...
Hey Aaron! Your baseball glove was at Hidden Treasures Antiques on Wells Street in Fort Wayne, IN. Sandra (the owner) wrote down the name of the Podcast and I played her the clip of you talking about it. She was smiling from ear to ear as she listened. After talking with her, I have a sneaking suspicion it will be reuniting with you soon:).
Love the CVS updates and wanted to let Brian know Hazel is not alone! I'm a pharmacist and one of the funniest prescriptions I've ever filled was Prozac for a dog named Twinkie with the directions, "Take one tablet as needed for thunder". Dogs take human meds all the time, but their different phobias requiring medication are always a good laugh.
Currently sitting in the quiet Harris County Jury Assembly room in Houston, patiently waiting by listening to the podcast. I literally laughed out loud when Nate said “and I believe you, with planet fitness and that other thing” in reference to Aaron’s glove. My laugh caused the whole room to turn around and stare at me. Keep up the good work guys
This is one of the most interesting and well-produced podcasts I've ever listened to. The host does a great job of discussing a wide range of topics related to artificial intelligence, mountain climbing and stand up comedy in a way that is both informative and entertaining. I would highly recommend this podcast to anyone who is interested in learning more about any of these topics. -OpenAI
As a software engineer, I think the ubiquity of machine-generated content will increase the value of "organic" material. It is forcing humans to evolve our ability to create more imaginative and insightful art and literature. If anything, it will weed out those who can ONLY think like machines and elevate the dignity of the truly artistic.
I’ve been a loyal fan of the pod from the beginning I’ve seen every episode - Nate mentioning Jesus and how he saving one friend at a time best moment In Nateland history
I've been home with possible exposure to covid and bored out of mind. Nateland's old episodes I've missed have really kept me from jumping off my roof, thanks cuzzy wuzzies!
Here is my OpenAI generated comment: "This is a great podcast about AI! Nate is a great host and he does a great job explaining things in a way that everyone can understand." Obviously OpenAI has never listened to the podcast.
Google’s response “They do and they don’t” to the question of “Do trees grow until they die” is the perfect answer for Nateland. Maybe one of our folks is working at Google HQ. 🧐 🌳 🤷🏻♂️
@18:34 “we just want to medicate her, we don’t wanna love her” I am doing yard work listening to this and that made me stop mid rake and bend over laughing 🤣
I love how they kept questioning if Arnold was in the 3rd terminator when they were looking right at his face on the cover, bigger than it was on the first and second cover.
I grew up among the great redwoods of Northern California. Redwood trees grow like weeds, and might be over 100' feet tall and well over 10' or 15' in diameter and weigh literally thousands of pounds, but their roots will only go 6-12' in depth. Yet, they seldom fall over. That's because they grow close together and their roots entwine with each other, and they share nutrients with each other and support each other, holding each other up. But still shallow! No, kidding about the shallow part, love you guys. Redwood trees on Nateland tee shirts would be a great symbol for you! You are all much appreciated, I so look forward to the weekly podcast.
Dustin looked like he was already throwing in the towel on this episode when Aaron was doing the second Vuori ad read 😂😂😂 then got super supportive during the Truebill read lol
Let's go folks, forest biologist here - how long a tree lives depends on which species you're talking about, Yellow Cedars can live for as long as 2000 years old whereas a Western Hemlock may live around 300-500 years. The rings represent the growing season, the width of the ring represents the spring/summer when the tree is actively putting energy into growth. In the winter it slows down into conservation mode. Rings are absent or very hard to discern in climates that allow even-year-round growth. So more pronounced seasons create more pronounced rings.
that ai stuff when Aaron was submitting a subject is wild. it really opened my eyes to the fact that we’ve probably been reading ai generated articles for years. so insane
Aaron's explanation that Mt. Everest is full of trash and bodies at the peak can be filed under yet another one of his excuses to not exercise. But who can blame him? He's already scaled the daunting academic Everest of graduating Notre Dame with a degree in friendship. If we're going to get nautical, the greatest of all the ships is friendship. Friendship: the only mountaintop experience anyone needs. I'll go proofread this now.
I absolutely LOVED the mental picture of Backwards peeping his worried, Irish Springs smelling Avatar head that needs keeps through the window for the podcast! We’ve got Nateland and Aaronland….when to we get a Bateland?? Backwards Bates is a champ for rolling with the jokes Nate hurls at him weekly and while I honestly didn’t think he was that funny when the podcast first started, he has earned my full respect and cracks me up every show! Keep it up gents! And go Grizz!!
Aaron is like those tour guides that don't know how to answer any additional questions outside the scripted tour they are giving and just answers your question by saying "that's a great question!"
I just saw Katie Hannigan at the Comedy Cellar in NYC. She said she was dating an "older Italian man," had no idea it was Mike Vecchione!! Glad the show was a hit, excited for more Nateland Productions.
I just left Starbucks and immediately came to leave this comment. I looked up at the menu and saw iced coffee with milk, and it made me smile. I couldn’t help but think of Nate’s story. Not wanting to get milk with ice in it, I ordered the ice coffee with cream, per Nate’s suggestion. I got the same “with cream?” question and confused look that Nate did. I said yes and then she proceeds to take out the WHIP CREAM. All that to say. Nate, you’re not ordering wrong. I think we just need to switch to iced tea and move on with our lives.
Nate, please don't let the world's largest mushroom and Portland skew your view of Oregon. It truly is one of the most beautiful places in the country and you'll get to see first hand in July. Buying my tickets to see you at the Britt Festival on Fri! Long time fan and this is the first time I'll get to see you live. Thanks for all that you guys do in keeping us sane in these crazy times!
I think we’re ready for Nate’s next sitcom pilot. It’s a new take on “The Odd Couple” where Nate lives with his best friend, who recently passed away but is preserved as cyborg. Coming this fall to NBC, it’s “Ice Coffee with Mark”.
Interesting bit of tree knowledge, when you drill into one to check it’s age you actually reduce it’s future life space by half so Aaron was partially on the right track when he said to double it then divide in half.
Aaron I ❤️ that story about your baseball glove. I have a similar story too. I'm 36 and I'm from Maryland. (We can talk about your negative comments about Maryland another time) A couple of years ago I was traveling home from a trip I took to Nashville. We stopped in Gatlinburg real quick and went in a couple stores, including a thrift store. In the thrift store was a burned cassette of The beastie boys "licensed to ill". On the front was a pencil drawn picture of the original album cover (the burning plane). It was mine that I had made in the 7th grade! Unreal. It was 50 cents, but I didn't even pay for it because i figured "well it is mine and it shouldn't even be there." Yes, i stole it. So, there's that story. BTW Aaron, I wanted to see you in Maryland a couple months back but the ol ball and chain wouldn't let me. Ill catch you another time I guess. Love the podcast fellas!
For easiest mountains to climb, you can't beat Pike's Peak in Colorado - it's over 14,000 feet, only about 300 ft shorter than Mt. Rainier, and you can actually drive to the top, so even Aaron with his gout foot can make it (I'm still catching up on early episodes of the podcast so I don't know how that saga ends) Love the show!
Seemed a fitting/ironic episode titled "Artificial Intelligence" for Bucephalus to mention that they are possibly switching pharmacies because of the pharmacists specifically. Something to be said for the human element no matter how "advanced" a civilization may get.
I think it needs to be clarified. Dustin said it, but quietly. Pescatarian sounds a lot more like Presbyterian than Episcopalian. Big fans of the show, gives me a great chuckle each week on my commute. Thanks for all you guys do, and think, and think you do.
I totally blanked when yall transitioned to talking about Baked Beans’ dog and just assumed he was talking about his daughter that whole time. I know the whole pregnancy was a bit challenging but I thought using the term “breeder” was kinda harsh. Then Nate saying “sounds like someone sold you a rescue”, topped off with Dustin asking if he puts the Prozac in her food, both appalled and confused me. I know yall like to mess with each other but this seemed like a bit much. Imagine my relief when he finally said “good girl Hazel” and realized he was talking about his dog. Lol keep it up yall.
While it doesn't have the lowest population, Greenland is the least densely populated country in the world with less than 0.02 people per square kilometer. This is because about 80% of the country is covered by the Greenland Ice Sheet. Perhaps that is what Banshee was thinking? …Additionally, Greenland is technically an autonomous country of the Kingdom of Denmark. If you were then to consider all such territories as part of their respective kingdoms, Mongolia would have the lowest population density of any single country. Might be time for a Greenland episode, folks. I've been listening since the beginning, love the podcast, and everything y'all do. Keep up the great(-est average) work!
Are those Nateland pens on the desk? If so when are they going to be available for purchase? I love pens and getting a Pen for my favorite podcast might actually get someone I know to listen/watch too. I mean considering no one cared when you read my comment before, but a new pen to my collection is sure to do the trick. Keep being hilarious guys!
I’m 100% with you Brandon! I was eyeballing those pens and thinking I would love to have some in the distillery tasting room where I work. I typically keep Nateland on the tv, why not have a couple of pens out?
The moment Nate thought Pescetarian was a denomination and Aaron continuously insists that he was thinking of Episcopalian, all the while Dustin is completely ignored while saying "Presbyterian" which is a denomination that sounds almost exactly like Pescetarian... Man that was sooo painful to listen to! 🐟⛪🤦😁
The AI conversation was eye popping! That letter they generated made me say out loud to myself-I knew it! When I was in school(I’m a healthy 60)we had to go to the library and sign out thirty pounds of books, use the antique microfiche, and use encyclopedias to write a paper. Our kids have it so easy and frighteningly so. You’re right Nate to protect your daughter from that fake ness. It is about people and heart. Another thought-Indeed, one of your sponsors, does this as a business- they don’t see the people they they sparse out words in a resume and pull candidates in for employers and probably miss a lot of excellent employees.
A while back I was talking to someone who owned cattle and they said they were about to go out and “A.I. some heifers.” I go, “Wait, they’re making robot cows now?” Turns out, in that context A.I. means artificial insemination. Really hope I get to hear Nate try to read “artificial insemination.”
When Listening to Nate say "I wanna watch someone do something I can't do..." I felt like I FINALLY had an explanation as to why Breakfast continues to show up each week and endure Nate's verbal abuse. It's like Stockholm syndrome but for comedy podcasts. Of course I'm kidding.... Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!!! Keep up the good work fellas!
LET’S GO FOLKS! Every Wednesday morning I wake up excited because there’s a new episode, and then I read what it’s about and become disappointed. Then I actually listen to the podcast and unsurprisingly, end up even more disappointed. Baby Daddy Bates, Weber Foreman Grill and Nathanial Bart are my favorite disaster every Wednesday morning! Thanks for all the laughs!
Excellent episode! Loved the AI talk. I imagine I am not the only one who signed up on the DALL-E waiting list to try out this art-creating AI. Is it ironic that I had to finish a puzzle to prove that I wasn’t a robot to get on that list?
Aaron toning it down on the ad reads today off the top. I liked the way you read them before. It added a little life to ads which, let’s face it are very boring for us. Love the show guys, keep it up!
Does anyone else think Nate and Dustin could be twins? Especially when Nate’s facial hair is more grown out. I can’t not see it. Great episode as always, guys!!
Speaking as a fan of all those Nair do wells (you can say that perfectly), thank you for choosing to shine light on the perfectly imperfect part of comedy. Everyone laughs, just not at the same thing. If it's not funny try someone else.
Nate, just wanted you to know, we show up for you for several reasons. Underneath the humour, we see an honest, humble, kind-hearted, gentle husband and father who shares a very funny perspective on life. Your words, body language and facial expressions are unique and the fact that it's clean just makes it next level. There are many funny comedians out there but not like you. You are one in a million Bargatze and we got you!!❤
The best cautionary movie for AI is Colossus: The Forbin Project starring Eric Braeden. You can usually find it on youtube. AI has been "just ten years away" since I was a tyke. I don't think a Turing test will ever be passed in our lifetime. There is always something missing.
Big fan of the Podcast and am also a hat connoisseur like Nate and Aaron, would love to know where to get my hands on Nate's Old Hickory hat from this episode?
Different species of trees live longer than others. Additionally, trees in temperate latitudes have annual spurts of growth in the spring and summer and periods of dormancy in the winter, which creates the distinctive pattern of light and dark bands. Tropical trees grow year-round, so they do not have the alternating dark and light band pattern of tree rings.
I would pay good money to see Brandenburg concerto explain the roko's basilisk problem to his more successful friend Nate, and see Nate's solution for controlling hostile AI. Something tells me he might just end up giving us the best answer for it.
My sister had to give her 60 pound pitbull medication for anxiety. When she filled the prescription, she laughed out loud because she used to take that same generic version of Prozac.
Bing search engine is definitely using an A.I. for the results that are posted on the right side of the page. Search any person and read the little 2 or 3 tidbits of info that is given on right side of the page for the person. Can do places and things as well. But the info for people makes me laugh sometimes. It'll even read like a robot would be saying it.
To show how far AI has come in chess: Stock fish was the best computer program for chess for years. It was far superior to any human player. In 2019, google made an AI bot called Alpha Zero and all they did was tell it the rules to chess, and then let it play games against itself for 4 hours. Then it played 100 games against stockfish. There were 72 draws and 28 wins for Alpha Zero. All with only 4 hours of playing chess.
I used AI playground and asked it to create a funny comment for this episode.... and It said "This guy Nate is very funny! But he's definitely not an AI himself due to him not being very smart."
"I'm wearing this now," says Nate pointing to the jacket that he indeed is wearing... right now. P.s. - Nate, where'd you find that hat? My dad's a DuPont grad, his grandmother's old white house from 1929 used to sit on Old Hickory Blvd in Lakewood but was recently torn down to build apartments. His dad opened a Sinclair service station there in the Lakewood area as well in the 50's. I'd love to get him a hat like that for his upcoming birthday!
@1:03:55 There is a guy in China who has married a robot. To do chores for him. I would like to see Grammy nominated Nate, use his new Hollywood clout to make his cinematic directorial debut: Maid in China
I've already seen commercials for these "design" places using AI to replace Architects. When people can go online and get stuff redesigned by a robot/app/company, it's heartbreaking as an Architect. It's not the same but people don't see that.
Hey, Nate! My wife and I came to see you, Dustin, and Mike in Orlando this weekend as well. All three of you were fantastic. Unfortunately, in that huge auditorium, we landed in front of the ONE couple that decided to tell their own stories after every joke, curse between every gap of silence, and laugh before you reached any of your punchlines. Kinda ruined the experience for us, but the good thing is that we saw you in Jacksonville a few months back and laughed harder than we've ever laughed with any comedian. Any recommendations on how to deal with unruly, disrespectful audience members who believe that their voice is more important than the one we paid to hear?
I think a great episode topic would be "Lost Treasures." I think Nate would absolutely love this topic! You could talk about the stories behind different missing treasures, their values, and go from there...
Ohhh that's a good one!!!
Agreed, awesome idea
Yes! But I’m going to need Dusty to guest on that one. It would be perfect.
@@meganthornton9409 He looks like a modern day treasure hunter!
Yes!!!!!!! 100%! Big daddy Bates, get to researching this one. 🙏🏼 Would be so hilarious and interesting, esp with Dusty Slay!! 😆🙌🏼
I was 2 days slow...
There’s something to be said that the best out-loud reading Nate has ever done was written by AI
The Nate land podcast is one of a kind . All the way from calendars to pondering the universe and AI . This show is pure joy keep it up !
As a software engineer, I think the ubiquity of machine-generated content will increase the value of "organic" material. It is forcing humans to evolve our ability to create more imaginative and insightful art and literature. SOMEBODY went to college!
But in all seriousness I do agree
I’ve been a loyal fan of the pod from the beginning I’ve seen every episode - Nate mentioning Jesus and how he saving one friend at a time best moment In Nateland history

God isn’t real
“Sticks and stones may break my bones… but words don’t matter.” -Nate Bargatze
This is possibly the best opening 30 minutes of any Nateland!
Every single episode of Nateland puts me in a good mood, no matter what’s going on.
Thanks for this, guys. 🤟🏻
I've been home with possible exposure to covid and bored out of mind. Nateland's old episodes I've missed have really kept me from jumping off my roof, thanks cuzzy wuzzies!
Here is my OpenAI generated comment:
"This is a great podcast about AI! Nate is a great host and he does a great job explaining things in a way that everyone can understand."
Obviously OpenAI has never listened to the podcast.
I spit out my drink when Brian said Nate thought he meant Union WORKERS
DUSTIN IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE GUEST ON THE SHOW!
He’s got a laugh that says “I’m uncomfortable 24/7”
"Is he in the 3rd one?" "I don't think so." As they look the movie poster that is like 90% Arnold's face 😂
Google’s response “They do and they don’t” to the question of “Do trees grow until they die” is the perfect answer for Nateland. Maybe one of our folks is working at Google HQ. 🧐 🌳 🤷🏻♂️
Way to go Aaron. Excellent job on the commercials. You toned it down. Good job Sir. No hard feelings.🙂
I always had to turn the volume down (A LOT) on my headset when Aaron would read the ads.
The fact that Nate thought pescatarians were some type of pessimistic religious group is the reason I watch this. He’s like a reverse genius 😂
I grew up among the great redwoods of Northern California. 🤣😂🤣
I think that Nateland could be re-named "Artificial intelligence" and it would make total sense after you got through your first episode.
I just saw Katie Hannigan at the Comedy Cellar in NYC. She said she was dating an "older Italian man," had no idea it was Mike Vecchione!! Glad the show was a hit, excited for more Nateland Productions.
I think the apple seed challenge would be a great follow up to the Krispy Kreme challenge
Nate’s reading skills are so bad that it actually makes his sponsor reads enjoyable.
True!

I listen to both and the love that Big Jay and Dan have for Nate andthe love Nate has for them is so nioce and refreshing
Interesting bit of tree knowledge, when you drill into one to check it’s age you actually reduce it’s future life space by half so Aaron was partially on the right track when he said to double it then divide in half.
New Krispy Kreme Challenge: First one to eat 149 apple seeds!
Awesome episode as always!
I f#%king love you…
I’m Irish and yet your wit, humour and jokes are global…
Superb!!! ❤
I think this episode is a great lesson for the future in not selecting topics with the word "intelligence" in the title.
Aaron I ❤️ that story about your baseball glove. I have a similar story too. I'm 36 and I'm from Maryland. Turns out the cure for Nate's reading issues is giving him a story about Brian being jealous of him and wanting to kill him.

Count from the center of the tree out. No need for additional math.
The space in between each ring indicates how big the tree grew each year.

Will Nateland productions ever branch out with other podcasts? I feel like we need a podcast hosted by Mike Vecchione and Dusty Slay.
Has anyone made a Nate-wiki yet? He gives us so much info about himself, his High school dance songs 😆 so much randomness we need to keep track of!
What I'd rather see is Wikipedia according to Nate. Just Nates explanation of stuff
Speaking as a fan of all those Nair do wells (you can say that perfectly), thank you for choosing to shine light on the perfectly imperfect part of comedy. Everyone laughs, just not at the same thing. If it's not funny try someone else.
Just think we could have buzzer beater overtime games every time!!!!!
Why am I not surprised that Breakfast’s dog is “worried”?!?!?
Nate seems to be very interested in trees. Can we let him know about the tree of life in Bahrain? Keep up good work
Big fan of the Podcast and am also a hat connoisseur like Nate and Aaron, would love to know where to get my hands on Nate's Old Hickory hat from this episode?
I mean, Benjamin Franklin feat. Biggy performing "Mo Money Mo Problems" sounds like a really good time lol
All kids watching Nateland are about to get better at writing
Different species of trees live longer than others. Additionally, trees in temperate latitudes have annual spurts of growth in the spring and summer and periods of dormancy in the winter, which creates the distinctive pattern of light and dark bands. Tropical trees grow year-round, so they do not have the alternating dark and light band pattern of tree rings.
I would pay good money to see Brandenburg concerto explain the roko's basilisk problem to his more successful friend Nate, and see Nate's solution for controlling hostile AI. Something tells me he might just end up giving us the best answer for it.
Breakfast got his topic off 60 minutes this last week 😂😂
This was the scariest episode to date.😮
My sister had to give her 60 pound pitbull medication for anxiety. When she filled the prescription, she laughed out loud because she used to take that same generic version of Prozac.
Bing search engine is definitely using an A.I. for the results that are posted on the right side of the page. Search any person and read the little 2 or 3 tidbits of info that is given on right side of the page for the person. Can do places and things as well. But the info for people makes me laugh sometimes. It'll even read like a robot would be saying it.
After that CVS and Hazel the dog story , Bates should definitely add "Wild" before his name ...
...as in "Wild" Biscuit Bates.
To show how far AI has come in chess:
Stock fish was the best computer program for chess for years.
Breakfast becomes a dad and all the folks try to get him addicted to pills. Is this an episode of its always sunny in Philadelphia?
"I'm wearing this now," says Nate pointing to the jacket that he indeed is wearing... right now.
P.s. - Nate, where'd you find that hat? My dad's a DuPont grad, his grandmother's old white house from 1929 used to sit on Old Hickory Blvd in Lakewood but was recently torn down to build apartments. His dad opened a Sinclair service station there in the Lakewood area as well in the 50's. I'd love to get him a hat like that for his upcoming birthday!
What I really want to know is; Did Aaron GASP when he seen the AI software DALL-E for the first time?
I love how Nate thinks engineers who make this unbelievable AI technology can't add a line that introduces imperfections and unpredictability
Ahh yes, the classic kids rhyme: "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words don't matter."
Chain restaurant, foreign cars, certain types of music and art in the last 50 years have caught on that we thought people would never like possibly.
@1:03:55 There is a guy in China who has married a robot. To do chores for him. I would like to see Grammy nominated Nate, use his new Hollywood clout to make his cinematic directorial debut: Maid in China
did you see john crist taking a driverless waymo car in phoenix. it's hysterical.
I've already seen commercials for these "design" places using AI to replace Architects. When people can go online and get stuff redesigned by a robot/app/company, it's heartbreaking as an Architect. It's not the same but people don't see that.
Nate, you need to contemplate 1 Cor. 16:33 a little more.
150 apple seeds can kill you? I smell a new Krispy Kreme challenge!
Should check out the podcast Dudesy
The podcast is doing very well and growing. Who amongst Nate's co-hosts is gonna be the Yolanda Saldívar?
Breakfast bates all day
