When we were in Albania (Tirana and Saranda), we felt extremely safe. Albanians are some of the most hospitable and generous people we have ever met. We loved it and hope to visit again. It's a beautiful country and culture. The food is fantastic!
Terrific information, thank you! I also appreciate how you set the right tone which is calm and friendly. (To many people on TH-cam trying to get likes by yelling into the camera:)
What albania has that is exceptional is the hospitality. If you or anyone finds him/herself out on the street with no place to go, just knock on any door. 99 out of 100 you will have a place to sleep as an honoured guest. I think this is what would set Albania apart from any other nation. Certainly not saying that other nations are not hospitable. This is just a norm in the Albanian society with regards to guests.
I’m Albanian living in the USA + 20 years New York now Florida . I came down to Florida with my family & 3 young kids I feel much safer than NYC . Albania is much much safer than USA is fact’s . In Albania you know your neighbors here you don’t !
Hey Patrick. Just want to say welcome to Albania. You probably have learned by now about the Albanian Customary Law we call "Kanun". It starts like this: the house of the Albanian belongs to God and the guest. Enjoy your retirement.
Spend it, because you can't take it with you. My wife and I live in Columbia at the moment but we are moving to Albainia. We also lived in North Masidonia, and Spain. Never going back to the US again for any reason. As an ex Marine, I sadly have to say that there are far better countries to live in than the US. My advice to younger people: learn a trade which can be done online, get a passport, put on your big boy panties and travel the planet with an open mind and patience. When you step away from all the noise in the US, you will come to understand what it is to relax and live: not just exist.🍻
I have travelled extensively in Albania and never had any problem with crime. A lot safer than London, where I am from. Albanians say that if anyone is robbed, the police would be the last of their problems.

Appreciate the information. And the attitude. I am so sick of people who use any and every opportunity to infuse their political ideology into everything. And honestly, it`s almost always those on the left that do it.
Another excellent and informative video, Patrick! We are considering starting a Nomad Traveling Lifestyle....after our first 6 months in Ukraine, Poland, and Estonia, we plan on visiting non-Schengen countries Albania, Montenegro, and Turkey. Do you think these countries deserve equal consideration, some month each, in Aug-Sep-Oct? Thanks! Dean & Cindy
Thanks Patrick! I will be watching your videos with keen interest. Can Americans still stay in Albania for up to a year without a special visa? Cheers and Happy Holidays!
Hi! And yes Americans can stay for 1 year visa free...they updated some stuff and took the year away and said 90 days...then corrected it back to 1 year for us...
@@patrickoverseas Thanks Patrick! That's great. We will start our own slow traveling adventure next year and I thought Albania would be a cool place to visit. Have you been to Turkey as well? What did you think?
I've travelled to most countries in Europe, the US, and Canada. Whether it's London, Barcelona, L.A, Krakow, Berlin, I'm keeping an eye on my belongings. In Albania? I genuinely just have this trust in people. I have left my bag with laptops and my phone/wallet/passport on the beach whilst I swim in the sea without worrying too much. I have always felt very safe in Albania, probably the safest I have felt in any country....until I get into someones car 🤣🤣
@@patrickoverseas Be aware of the big and bigger cities in Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam! Each of those country's inner cities (I have been to many of them) is a bit different from the other. Some drive on the right, some drive on the left, etc. But one thing is the same, they are very aggressive most all of the time in the cities. Of those four countries, Malaysia is probably the least nuts....but I've only been to Kuala Lumpur. 😄
I’ve lived in the Philippines, Armenia,Bolivia, and Paraguay. I’ve always felt safer outside the US than outside the US. At least in most countries I’ve been to you at least know where to avoid, whereas here you never know where the threat is coming from.
We plan on moving there in November!! I am on disability, im hoping to be able to visit switzerland for medical . Its ranked one of the highest in the world for medical. Unlike America, which is also ranked as the most expensive in the world and definitely not top quality
hi i m a youtuber from Bangladesh. i dont need to work over here . i just need a safest good country to raise my kids and make them a bright future. i could try any other EU country but cost of living is too much high for a 6 person family. i need a cheap and safest country. would think this will be a good idea? i m brown. 5 feet 6 inches and muslim .. are they recist ?
no. they are very open and no problem with any religion...they are about 60% muslim. Whats cool is there can be a church close to a mosque and no trouble...they got it so right where most of the world has it so wrong with hatred. As for schooling with kids...i dont know. my kids are all grown...I wish you the best my friend !
Good video, thanks. I know that's not your list, you're just reading it. We can say the fact that NZ is so high in terms of safe countries that the list is absolute bs. We have felt far safer in South America than most parts of NZ. A factor at play here is politics. There are almost as many gang members in NZ as there are Police, but they are predominantly Maori/Polynesian. Of course, it doesn't suit the current narrative to highlight that. I hope your surgery went well.
i think if you look for trouble any where in the world you can find it. But there are a few i wont try. sorry i wont say which. im trying so hard not to bash a country.
i dont know...i will try to find out for you. they do have a business visa i believe for 3 years. if you are a american you can live here visa free for 1 year then leave for 90 days and do another year. There are many permits. I just dont want to guess and give you bad info
If I retire here in the US, I will only be able to sit in my house and watch TH-cam. No money to do anything... I want to travel, and live somewhere that the healthcare will not bankrupt me.
I lived 30 years in the richest areas of the US, yet never felt as safe as in Albania. In addition, the majority of crimes in Albania are among bad crimes, family feud or neighbors feud, leaving the crime on innocennts almost to a zero level.

I wonder why it's ranked #40 then?
Someone said there's a war looming.
I was in Albania a couple of years ago three things surprised me safety, food, and friendly people can't wait to go back
if you see me there plz say hi!
I was in Tirana two weeks ago. It was super fascinating, economical, and the people I interacted with were lovely and friendly.
I couldn't agree more. Were settling in now
Came over from Dans channel. Nice channel 👍 Great interview with Dan
Thank you soooo much !

Hi Paul....thank you comment! I'm new to this...but trying to learn and keep channel light....good to meet you!
Some states in America, individually would not even make that list... They are off the charts. It's Very Sad.
and i dont see it changing

This makes me want to cry! I knew in my heart the US was bad but those statistics gives me a wake up call. 😢

Yes indeed! Perfectly stated. I am young & doing this right now. Turkey, Africa and now Albania. I think Albania and Peru are major contenders.
