An amazing collection just came across your channel. I've been buying alot of 60's & 70's on vinyl when I can find stuff. I have the Grape Jam. Have few of what you showed, very nice.

Quill was the first band to play on Saturday at Woodstock, but they only did 4 songs: "They Live The Life", "That's How I Eat", "Driftin'" and "Waiting For You". I've only got 3 of them so, I have no idea if "Driftin'" was the same song Paul Butterfield did Monday morning. Quill are from Boston.

Been watching your whole "psychedelic" series and enjoying it immensely. I don't often comment but so excited as this is the first time I've heard another person talk about J.K. & Co. I got the CD reissue 7 or 8 years ago (original vinyl, lucky you!) and since then have been turning anyone I meet who is into similar music onto "Suddenly One Summer". Love Os Mutantes too, and agree that the Faust Tapes (from the first video) is psychedelic music, trippy stuff for sure.

Hi Dereck, great to see your video and listen to this exremly cool voice you have. Liked that from the first moment, although the music in the first to vc clips from you wasn't really stuff that catched me....but mate, here it is. Bought the J.K. & Co. few days ago as an Akarma 10" RI after seeing it on a clip from bigstar1000. Simply blew me off...Great records you show, it's unbeliveable how much great music is out there.Thx for that. The Dando Shaft here is great, too. You'll probably know Steeleye Span. If not, give them a try. Partly comparable to DS. Some tunes are just fantastic medieval folk tunes - others are bit cheesy.

Yeah Oliver, the J.K. & co. is an awesome LP. Its beautiful and harrowing at the same time. The guy over doses and you can hear his grave being dug at the end of the album.

The re-issue of the Sopwith Camel album has an extra added intro to the first song. Why they did that, I don't know. There's also a non-album b-side on the single from that. Their second album was more jazzy and spacey and the single was, "Fazon".

I know this is an old video but a great one. Your collection is fantastic. I got the Moby Grape record with the Grape Jam as a double record. The studio one is the better of the 2. it took me maybe 2 years to find a table that would play 78 for the one track.

Reguarding MAN - it is rare but I have seen regular pressings of Manpower (Man) Revelation. They are out there. I have no answer to why. The a.r. & machines echo Achim Reichel stuff is amazing. I couldnt find the album but did find a cd. Thank you for that. Do you have Little Games by the Yardbirds? Pure Psych . Thats my band. They would perform Glimpses in the summer of 67 complete with sound effects and film which Relf would manipulate on stage.

You may have done some traipsing through my mynd! I heard "Crinkly Grin" by Family and that is the first and ONLY LP of theirs I've heard. Also, I appreciate the Free Design, although I am fond of "Make the Madness Stop". Great seeing your collection, I'm learning quite a lot. Also, for pure hard rock, The Collectors' "Take It Easy" is a great one!

OH - THE LITTLE PRINCE (1974) SOUNDTRACK ESPECIALLY IF YOU EVER DJ IT UP OR ACTUALLY PLAY OUT - BUT ITS SO GOOD ANYWAY, CMON ITS WHERE MICHAEL JACKSON PICKED UP A LOAD OF POSTURES (THE FILM OF COURSE) LIKE THE ONE WHERE YOU LOOK LIKE ONE BUTT CHEEK IS ON A VERY SMALL STOOL WHICH HE STARTED NEARLY ALL SHOWS WITH. YOU KNOW THIS PROLLY.

  • @dereckvon

  • @RedVynil

The problem is, when you say, "psychedelic", a LOT of people start rattling off stuff that isn't even CLOSE to being psych!! That one you played at the end, I would NEVER call that psych!! A lot of people tend to think ANYTHING released in the `60's (at least the late `60's) is psych!! I dealt with a seller once through Goldmine or Discoveries that claimed the stuff he was selling was psych and I'm going through the list and there's Patsy Cline, Roger Miller, etc.!! I asked him about that and he said it's there because it was released in the `60's! So, by his logic, I could claim George Carlin was new wave because he had albums out in the early `80's.

Super seeing an alternate view on your wall of vinyl D.
You know what is funny, we must be thinking alike. The album that I checked out last night after your psych video part whatever was Family 'Fearless'. I checked out the incredibly cool album cover as well. But how ironic after all of the albums you showed you picked this one to needle drop.
You remembered I had that Salvation LP, thanks. So many great LP's~
