As someone who's spent the last 6 years playing Skyrim without ever finishing the main quest, i have to say your Skyrim asmr are some of my absolute favourites🔥
58:45 The red "splits" means you lost time as you correctly guessed, green means you went a bit faster than in previous runs and yellow splits are actually gold splits which means that this is the fastest time you ever got in that particular section across all runs you've made so far.
If you enjoy the Skyrim speedruns so much, you should definitely do some more often! I remember it was the Dragon Priest Mask speedrun video that introduced me to this channel, and I’ve been watching ever since. Definitely one of my favorite types of video from this channel 😃👍🏼
I try not to post them TOO often but maybe I will try to maybe do one every month or so :) I enjoy trying to constantly get better at them plus there are a few alternate ways for me to complete some that I haven't done yet! Thank you for the encouragement! ❤

Yours I think is Magyk, a series i completely forgot i had even read if not for the recognizable cover art. But it could also be the Seventh Son, The Septimus Series books by Offenwanger. so it sounds like its a trope.
I wonder if one of the mods you use interferes with Esbern in some way. Usually, any character following you will catch up any time you go through a door or fast travel.
