  • A man has unearthed a platinum and diamond ring worth $40,000 buried on a beach in Florida and returned it safely to its owners.
Joseph Cook, 37, found the ring while combing Hammock Beach in St Augustine, St Johns County using his metal detector.
The video shows Joseph digging the ring out of the sand and exclaiming in shock: "No way, man, whoah, look at that bad boy, holy crap, yo that's real, I swear to god this is the biggest diamond I ever found on the beach".

How do you know it was their ring? Anyone can claim it's their ring - where is the proof. Putting a youtube up saying you found a $40K just begs you to be scammed

These rings have a laser inscription with. Gia certification number on it. That and I spoke with the original jeweler who sold the ring. Also had the receipt.

It’s really shocking that a person that can buy a 40,000$ diamond ring can’t even offer a guy 100$ for returning the ring. I think it’s awesome you returned it but is 100$ really that much to ask as gratitude for returning it. Sorry but i say the owner is incredibly cheap and in my opinion rude. I’m a poor man and if a guy returned a wedding ring that was my wife’s and it had a value of 2000$ i would give the person 100$ without blinking.

I would disagree completely. This can be viewed from several different angles. First this wasn’t a 500$ item and people with that kind of money SURELY could afford a small reward to show gratitude. Secondly their is ABSOLUTELY ZERO wrong with expecting a reward for such an act of kindness. Asking for a reward may be tacky but expecting one is NOT. Ever heard of the saying “ scratch my back and i will scratch yours “ it’s called helping each other. Don’t look down on someone because you wouldn’t expect or take a reward.
