i thought all cats were BIG into boxes, every cat i've owned or taken care of thought it was christmas morning every time i brought home a box half opened like these lol and paper bags too
apparently cats like to feel enclosed (so they don't have to worry about predators from most sides). Also, they like being in high places. Conclusion: cats like boxes up high
They like funny sounds too. The sounds in a box or bag reflect and must be interesting to them just like my dog. Bags are a lot of fun for both because they make crinkling sounds and they are flexible shape shifters. ;-)
The diagnosis is simple: Maru is addicted to boxes - an obsessive cardboard compulsion. He looks none too happy with the selection of boxes afforded him, but he settles defeatedly for any he can get his paws into, or almost into.
I have only recently come to know Maru, so nice to see him when he was younger. At 4 years he moved around faster, which is no surprise! But he already loved boxes 😘

I suppose it's because Maru is a full-time, 100%, all day every day Hammer Head. A dyed in the wool, from the day he was born Hammer Head. He does what he does because he enjoys doing it and hopefully he will be doing it all...and more...for a very very long time.
