I just... do 🤷‍♂️ It's like learning words in a foreign language, you just repeat them enough times and you'll eventually memorize them.

I got stumbled on the transition from the alcoxide to propargyl alcohol. Can I just use water or does it have to be hydronium?

That part is just aqueous workup. So, yeah, saying water is just fine as well.
