Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
This channel follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️
We share our life in this ancient chateau in the heart of the French countryside, and show you the diy, renovations, crafts, cooking and gardening that are needed to bring a home like this to life!
A very special thank you to all of you who have become Patrons of the Chateau de Lalande. The hall of miniatures at the V&A that is purportedly for children, but let’s face it - us too, is just brilliant.
Love Gerald, he looks so happy and well ❤
Acdcm❤
I’ve often heard Stephanie speak of Framlingham and growing up with mummy, daddy and Gerry, just hadn’t put two and two together realising Gerry still lives and works there as I thought he lived in Scotland. Thank you for sharing this little snippet with us, it was lovely to see ❤
The fact that your tray has a thousand years of lineage behind it, gave me goose bumps....🙂
Gerry is so funny ! Never a dull moment with him around!
Always watch you just before going to sleep. You are the perfect happy tonic for a peaceful night
I agree!!! Love these posts.
Hi, from Los Angeles. Good luck with the new table! Somehow, I suspect you'll soon need a second one. Galahead travels so well - many dogs get car sick, don't adapt well to new places. He makes his home wherever you two do.
Loved seeing Gerard and your hometown. He has such a sunny personality. Love the new table. Then, the V&A museum and London visit. Great fun in the middle of the week!
I love that Gerrys business says GRADE A,when his name is Gerald Grady.... very punny, Gena xx
What a lovely day I so enjoy when you take us with you I get to experience the beauty of your surrounds and the art . Thank you enjoy . I love Galahad he is a gem .
Good Thursday evening form Seacoast New Hampshire-USA 😊 LOVE the new table! LOVE seeing Gerry on his home turf! Stephanie, because of you I see the world. At my age, due to some health issues, I can no longer travel as I once might have when I was young. I longed to travel as I was growing up. I studied several languages including 8 years of studying French. I had hope and dreams long since understanding they will not be realized. Still I find happiness in the life I do have. You share so much of your world, your life. Thank You Stephanie. Words cannot express my joy in traveling with you. 🤗🥰👏💕
Thank you Stephanie! 🏰
enjoy your hometown 😃
Hello Gerry he’s such a joy. 👋 VnA building was amazing especially the hall of miniatures loved it, the ceiling, lights, staircase and more. Splendid. You always take us on a wonderful journey Stephanie. Thank you ❤
This channel is such a calm and comfort! On bad days, this is where one needs to go.
Thank you for taking us with you Stephanie!😘The new table is beautiful and practical 👍
So much positivity and fun packed into this vlog! Gerry is such a warmhearted person. Thank you for spreading joy! Stephanie is also such a fantastic tour guide, and I'm missing that. Any chance we might get to see more of those longer tour-guiding educational videos again?
Love the V&A, my fav London museum.
How fascinating about the family that made your tray!
I know that way back, Murano residents weren't allowed to leave the island as the Venice Republic didn't want the secret to how they make their glass being leaked.....😮
Wow fun fact eh?
You take us to all the cultural places. Thanks! That was fun.
Good morning on this sunny day from Gippsland, Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺 😊
Good morning from a too warm Surfers Paradise !
@endeavouringit we are still cold though. About 12° but feels like 5°, top 17° today. Icy blast and windy.
TOLD YOU THAT TRAY IS BEAUTIFUL THE WAY IT IS ❤
What a beautiful place at the V&A. The table is going be be great to fit more people.
I spent many many days in the V&A when I was a student, especially the library. One day the head librarian presented me to her fiancé who was one of the conservators and he gave me a guided tour of the cellars, vaste proportions going under Cromwell Road and full of treasures. The ceilings where covered in plaster casts donated by a closed 19 th century factory that had not been exposed ! He showed me a marquetry 18 th century chest of drawers that had been exposed next to a radiator and most of the marquetry had fallen off so they had to secretly have it restored as it was on LOAN from some old family!
Stephanie, you have such lovely family and friends. ❤
Hello from a resident of Islington. I'm just up the road from your flat. I too visited Sainsburys Liverpool Rd, earlier but didn't buy wine today. Enjoy seeing the locale in you vlog. Safe journey home
Your videos are so entertaining and asthetically pleasing! Hello from the center of the USA- Nebraska! 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us . Enjoyed it , as always.
Love the miniatures and the time you spent with Gerry. ❤
What a beautiful museum
I LOVE your little town!!!!! I love the countryside too, I live in Norco, CA, Horsetown, USA.
Surprised to not see tartan somewhere on Gerry's building! 😉
I just ordered The Glass Maker, I loved Girl with the Pearl Earring.
I was at the book launch of Tracey Chevalier's last book A Single Thread in Winchester Cathedral. It was an interesting evening. Alas, much as I've enjoyed her previous books, that one did not live up to the hype. Never the less, I'm still looking forward to reading this latest book.
That's the silver cow creamer that Bertie "stole" in P.G.Wodehouse's The Code of the Woosters! There it is.
Thank you for having content that enriches our intellect and minds, as well as the creative arts.
Your home town looks like a really nice place to grow up in. Looking forward to seeing your new table set up. 🇨🇦❤️
Beautiful table!!
❤❤. We stayed at The Crown Inn earlier in the year, great place, lovely welcoming staff.
what a lovely jaunt to the lecture hall that you shared with us and can't wait to see the masterpieces that Phillips creates on the new table
You have inspired me to travel and learn more about history or European life and art . Bravo to you !
You are thinking in French Stephanie, it's not place du marché in Framlingham, but the market hill. V&A my absolute favourite too xx
I enjoyed the trip through the V&A on the way to the lecture hall, and I will also enjoy reading the new book. Thanks for the video!
I just booked my London trip!! So happy that there are things my 10 year old will enjoy
That's an amazing, beautiful museum! I hope to go some day. Thanks for sharing it with us. I have all of Tracy Chevalier's books, but this one. Now I need to get it!
Good afternoon from the US.
Good morning from The Netherlands!
NOW KNOWING THE PROVENANCE OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL TRAY - I hope you didn’t get around to removing or changing those lovely handles Stephanie??! 👌💖
Good evening everyone from Florida♥️♥️
Not a silver cow creamer!! Where's Bertie Wooster when you need him to snear at such a creation?! Anyone in need of a giggle, read The Code of the Woosters by PG Wodehouse. Im off to read it again immediately, inspired by the silver whatnots!
London is one of my favorite cities but I do need to come back because I haven't been to V&A.
I’m reading that book now. Captivating from the first page!
Stephanie they missed you both .
This was a wonderfully happy post.
I prefer a tablecloth
I’ve read The Glassmaker, such a good book!
I love London!!!
Thanks Steph and Philip nice to see Gerry
It’s a great read. I love Venice. The book has been out weeks in Australia
I know that place very well! I have visited it often. My cousins live in Great Bradley Suffolk!
Good morning Lalanders from Sydney Australia!
Hi, from Surfers Paradise, I miss Sydney
Hi from Southern Highlands NSW 😂
Thank you for sharing your life with us. Letting us see beautiful things in this world that is sometimes so ugly and depressing.
Now, you just REALLY need a suitable chandelier - or two? 😂
No, I think the one in the former diningroom just needs to be moved. It will look stunning in the new diningroom 😊
Thanks for showing us around❤
Haha Phillip the hearty. What a nice trip for you all. Hello Jerry!
I love your posts Steph. I learn so much from you and the fabulous places and things. Thanks so much for sharing ❤
Hello from Atlanta Georgia
I enjoyed the video, thank you!!

What a great place!
Hello from Rogers, AR
Dont know who was handling the camera ??? It was perfectly done Bravo thankyou so much. A real joy to watch ❤❤❤
Love, love, love Gallahad!!! Ignore the grumpy people's comments!
Hello from Florida. USA
Gerry was a good friend of her Father she has known him a long time they are like brother and sister
Good afternoon from Indianapolis, Indiana USA
Hi from Tasmania.🙏❤️
Now you can't ever sell that tray. I loved that Museum, even the staircase was a piece of art
Nice table and I'm looking forward to seeing it in place and fully extended. It does however suggest the possibility of ongoing future purchases of new and pre-loved brocante placemats in significant quantities.
Afternoon from US
I read up on Framlingham and found it to be listed by estate agents as the top place to live in Suffolk and a lovely old market town. I was surprised at the reasonable prices of real estate. Though if was going to move across The Pond I'd have to choose a warmer spot in southern France because in cold and damp winter weather I tend to lose my foliage.
Isabelle and her husband redid a garage, I seem to remember Stephanie saying. They didn't have a room for Stephanie, so added a balcony finally, until she had a small apartment or house. She and Nick sold their separate properties for Lalande. ❤
amazing life
Good morning from Ipswich qld Australia
Oh yay, my sister now lives there, I'm in Surfers
Bonsoir du Mans 😊
🌸🌸🌸
hello from the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia
Hi from Surfers
@@endeavouringit good morning I’m in the hinterland. 👋🏻
Thanks for the book recommendation! Just reserved the audio from my library. So very cool about your beautiful tray! I loved it when you spotted it and was glad when you bought it. 💙💛
YEA!😊
Phillip, do you ever plan to visit us in the USA?
Stephanie and Philip did a visit to NYC several years ago.
HellomFerald and Stefane and Philip.
Jerry is so fun. I’m not sure his connection with Stephanie however. Can someone explain please?
The family sort of adopted him a big brother to Stephanie but not of blood related
Isabelle said that Gerald adopted the family when he was 12 years old. He loved to take care of Stephanie and push her around in her pram. When they left Scotland and moved to Farmington, Gerald came with them. Stephanie and Gerald refer to each other as sister and brother. Gerald has two families that he loves and they love him. Even Amaury and his family lived at the family business, so Stephanie grew up with him and his younger brother.
❤🏰❤️
❤❤❤
Looking forward to seeing the new table insitu.
Another fabulous find by Phillip.
Love the little adventures you fit into your travels, even if the objective is to pick up a piece of furniture 🥰
When you get a moment What are you looking for in a table for it to be your forever table?
I tried giving our dog fish, she rolled in it!
Paying for laundry when you could buy your own industrial ones is madness you don’t need a nice room for a washer just a roof 😅❤
I'm sure the laundry appreciate the business and the paying guests enjoy professionally laundered linens ... And the dog at the table 😂 o French 🎉
Just the B&B laundry is sent out for the season. Isabelle did laundry for years and it was too much, even with volunteers. Remember the day Stephanie remove Isabelle from a stuffed laundry room for a group hug to calm her down. At 83 years old they have asked her not to do laundry, but let Stephanie do hers.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Tables! We bought our 8 seater for £11.00 from a charity shop in the South of England, paid £70.00 to transport it to Scotland, and rounded the transaction to £100. All for a previously priced £1,000s table because it was brown! Yours looks spectacular. We never use tablecloths. We just do placemats and distress the wood😂😂😂. Regards, Stephen.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Can’t wait to see the table all trimmed out in your lovely dining room. Just a word of caution- fried foods, oils and white potatoes are bad for dogs to eat.
She said she took of the batter from the fish, she did not speak about potatoes
🤍💜🤍💜🤍💜🤍💜🤍💜🤍
Stephanie said her Mummy’s building is next to Geralds building. What is Mummy’s building used for?
To live in.
You so have to visit Murano when you are next in Venice.
