I have a very small open bite! I went to Smaha Orthodontics here in Macon Ga and they told me that Invisalign can’t help me and that I would need four teeth pulled! They want to extract each tooth in front of my wisdom teeth and wanted to force braces on me with rubber bands!!! So basically $7000 worth of work and that’s not including the expense for the teeth extractions from a separate company!!! I find the info unbelievable that I received from Smaha because Invisalign advertises fixing open bites religiously!!!….

@@nealinja-aho1911 so here’s a update! I went to a more experienced orthodontist and started my regular Invisalign treatment July 12th 2022. Cost me like $5000 since I didn’t have ortho coverage from being a self employed business owner/worker which was great! Never had to pay anything else and I still have all my teeth and my smile has transformed tremendously! I’m still going through treatment and I have to change trays weekly every Tuesday. My teammate will be complete early next year and you literally see results weekly and it’s so amazing!! So I say that to say this…search for a more experienced orthodontist than the one you dealt with that gave you that news because it’s probably not that severe as they made it seem. 💯

I did not have an open bite before braces. I now have one. Why is that? I'm wearing bands to close it, but it doesn't seem to be working. Suggestions?

I have one general question: does invisalign suggest the approach and treatment or does the doctor design and decide the treatment approach?

My dentist doesn’t have me using any bands. I’m actually beginning to question how my bite can close without them? It’s relatively small though but still very curious

Is it possible to keep top teeth where they are and only pull up bottom teeth when closing an open bite to avoid gummy smile? Thanks!

@Premierorthodontics What about the risk of relapse ?
i had jaw surgery to correct un open bite of 5 mm , i took the braves off 4 month ago and i already can see the beginning of a relapse. It starts to open again .I can t go through surgery again as the risk of a relapse will still be there . How do you manage this kind of cases.
Thank you in advance for you answer.

I want to know as well! I had braces as a kid and used headgear and rubber bands to fix my minor over bite and now I'm 30 and I can see its back. Considering invisalign

Don’t you have to like fix the causing problem, stopping the tongue thrusting, thumb sucking etc. I was told to work on my speech and tongue thrusting. So i went to a speech therapist whom also helped me learn how to chew and swallow food.

(I copied this question of mine from another comment)
Question. I've currently had braces for about 3 years however it was only done on the top. I have a mild deep bite and I did have that blue cement stuff (can't remember the name) put on a molar on either side of my mouth at the top. Will my deep bite ever go away or what? I've been asked by my dentist about a few months ago when I will get them off as it doesn't seem like much longer and all I ever seem to be aware of is that there's not to be much longer but I haven't been given a date. I do have an appointment tomorrow and maybe I'll get told something tomorrow however I'm not sure... Something else to mention, one of my incisors are pretty big and it nearly looks like 2 small teeth merged into one, and if I recall correctly, I do remember being told about getting it made smaller however I'm not really sure and I'm wondering why it wasn't made smaller before getting my braces because if they got removed, and then the tooth is made smaller, surely thered be some gaps? If you read this, thanks, I get its pretty long and sorry lol. Hope I get some clarity. If need be, I can send a photo if there is somewhere I can.

@@gugu52343 my treatment cost was $7500, but my insurance covered $2,000. And due to my orthodontist being in-network, I saved an additional $2000. Bare in mind, most places will allow you to make monthly installments; however, a down payment is usually required. I'm thankful for my insurance, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford it. Hope this helps!
