- Are you confused about why people are saying you have to pay for a subscription to use your Cricut? Nope, that is not the case. Cricut Design Space is an incredible program that is 100% free to use! This video will show you how to make the most out of Cricut's Design Space for free, no subscription needed...
...However, I will make this disclaimer, I do pay for Access because you get so much content for $9.99 a month-- but you absolutely do not need a subscription to use Design Space.

I was freaking out because Cricut was trying to charge me for a cut and I was a few clicks away from destroying my explore when I realized it was because of the font I chose. And funny enough it was the font you pulled for the video! Thanks!

Just what I was looking for. Thank you. I'm exploring purchasing a Cricut machine and needed to know if design space had, included content, that works without access. If I start really getting into it then I'd consider access. Importing images and fonts to use IS an option.

I thought I'd check you out because there isn't anyone at my fabric store who seem to know anything. My first impression was wow I never considered to put wood in it. My second impression is $$. It looks like you could really rack up a bill without realizing it. Can you scan something then cut that item out? i.e. make appliqué pieces?

Thanks for video. My question is can I still make designs on cricut design space if I don’t have a cricut yet? I tried but it won’t allow me because it takes me to the set up machine page. USB or Bluetooth. I can’t use the site or play around with it without have a machine to connect too … help. How do I still use website? I don’t won’t to buy Mach yet until I get a feel of the site
for the love of christmas do i need to pay a single dime more to use this machine? i want to buy it, plug it in, upload my own images and start cutting. Do i need this design space to do that? thanks and great vid! just getting frustrated as im bouncing around trying to figure out if im gonna get pinched for more fees after dropping 300 on this with supplies. You can 1000% use this without a monthly fee! You can upload images for free, use your fonts for free, cut for free! The only thing you’d ever be charged for is if you used a cricut image or font- which you don’t have to do!

so many mixed review on this subject. I really want to buy a cricut but the thought of having to pay more just for printing something was daunting.everyone says you have to pay just to hit the cut button!

The machine and supplies are expensive as it is. I want to do it for final and possibly to make a little profit but If you have to pay another monthly bill that's a turn off

Does cricut charge you for uploading your own image and cutting it?
If you do decide to buy one of their images or fonts, is it now “yours” to use for future projects or is it a pay per use type of thing?
The Soapy Fox it is yours to use as much as you want! However there is no way to use it outside of the app!
How do i use the features for free? I can add use the remove background feature, on my own picture, for free?
Can I save to my computer for free or do I have to have a Cricut machine?

You don’t! It’s free to anyone!
What about my cartridges I have..I don't want to link them to my account when I upgrade..can I use them without linking them?i herd after I link they can not be unlinked so I can't resell them kus they won't work on another person's account
You have to link them to use them in Design Space. There isn’t a way around that unfortunately.

It's stupid that I have to pay a service to be able to use a machine I already paid for.
this is the warning that the program gives me
"Making this project requires a Cricut Access subscription. You're eligible for a free trial."
and i can't use design space and do my project because it requires cricut access subscription

Question: When I click on text and the word pops up in the box, there is a square on each corner. However, when you click on the text, your box has icons on each corner...increase/decrease size, rotate, unlock/lock and delete. I want to know how I make make those icons show up on my box. Can you help?
Design space has updated a few times since this video was filmed. So it may look a little different, but the functions are all there!
Does it now charge for system fonts because I have a total of 99 cents for each system fonts? Thanks
Fonts are usually $4.99. So it sounds like you have a design space image on your project canvas.

Unfortunately not. It’s designed to force you to get in and cut that week.
Is there a site that you can upload free images and fonts from ? Idk if it’s just mine but it would not let me even get through the signup to open the designer website to even cut anything
It’s no longer a website. You’ll go to design.cricut.com/#/ to download a desktop app. Then you can upload any image and use the fonts on your computer.

If you used an image for a project and saved it while you had subscription, if you stopped the subscription
will the image you used saved disappear?
It won’t disappear, however you will be prompted to pay for it if you want to cut it.
Has the information changed? I've read reviews for UK buyers saying that they can't use their own images at all because they now have to pay?

I understand that when using Design space, it is all saved on cloud. Does this mean that Design space has access and legal rights over my own personal designs which are stored on their cloud?
Technically they can see all of the designs that people create- but they do not go in and take anyone designs if that’s what you mean. I haven’t checked their legal policy lately- but they have it posted on their site.
Ok so you are in Canva to use the cricut design space?
No- cricut design space is a stand alone app. The “canvas” is where you design in the app.

FromThe6Films nope! That’s untrue. You do not need to pay to upload your own images. Most the time people are using cricut fonts and don’t realize it. That’s what they are going to be charged for. But your images and system fonts are free to use and cut!

If you click continue-- you can see what Cricut is trying to charge you for. It could be a hidden image on your canvas or a font!
Don't know if this was covered in the video as am only half way through. The fonts, images and projects Cricut makes available for free don't necessarily remain free. You might load a free project onto your canvas, then come back next week to make it and it is no longer free! Worse still - you spend the weekend altering it to suit your purpose - then when you decide to finally make it it might come up asking for payment, because that project isn't in the free list any more. I have learnt the hard way to avoid the free Cricut fonts!

So I would’ve been a different brand but I haven’t found a smart cutting you know machine that’s like the joy that size because I live in a really tiny condo so I don’t actually have room for one of those bigger ones. And the cricket website sorry if I’m spelling it wrong I’m actually talking to text because my wrist is in pain I accidentally Sprained it. And so they have a cricket on sale so apparently there’s a section of the cricket website where it is clearance/outlet and they have a few different cricket machine and they’re like bundle deals and so they had a joy where you can get it with label Bundle or you get the cricket machine joy with the card insert bundle so I’ll probably do the card one. And I think it’s either 56 or $58 which I feel like that’s a good deal because you’re also getting materials also have to buy more materials but I’m saving money with that. I make Christmas cards not very good at them I want to put transfer heat vinyl onto shirts there is a way to do that with adult shirts a little complicated but there’s a way to do that because someone gave me last Christmas a mini heat press it is not the cricket brand is a different brand and it supposed to be good and I don’t know what to use it for I’m gonna use it on a couple presents this year to do T-shirts I’m just gonna buy the heat transfer vinyl and a couple of them because they’re really expensive on Etsy. And do a couple presents that way I really want to get the joy but that $10 a month it’s bugging me and people say that with the free version you can only keep her safe 20 different designs each month otherwise if you want to do more you kind of have to pay for the $10 a month but I can’t pay the $10 a month because I wouldn’t use it enough to justify the $10 a month I feel like it would be use more at Christmas time I might use it outside and Christmas but like I said it be great for Christmas presents so you know in my head I see it being used maybe two times a year so if it’s only going to get use that much I’m hoping to use it more but my head starting out it’s probably going to get used twice a year. And their website pretty much says you have to have a membership and I can’t justify that and what you get with the free is bugging me it’s the part where you can’t save more than 20 a-month I don’t even know how many I will be doing in one month I just know that that’s ridiculous so that’s where I have the problem and it’s mixed reviews some people say oh there’s a way to work around that you’ll pay that but then it the videos I’ve watched or like oh you’ll have to pay that you could be my monthly fee. Yeah there’s other ways of watching and there’s people that have had their own companies and I’m like oh you have to pay the 10th $10 a month that you can pay my membership you get way more for $20 I was like OK I don’t wanna pay for a membership I wanna be able to use it without paying a monthly fee if I get to the point where I use it a lot yes I’d like to pay a fee but I’m gonna pay a fee when I just pay the $10 a month instead of paying a fee to a different company that works with it it’s $20 a month that doesn’t make sense
So yeah I’m on used I know your video is a few years old but I haven’t been able to find any newer videos like in this year I haven’t gotten any bills in 2021 or even last year that tells me how to honestly use it Without a membership and then I read somewhere that someone posted a blog the blog that cricket heard people complain and then if anyone bought a cricket machine before December 2001 you could use it without paying the $10 a month well there was a link on that blog to the crickets Letter that they have on their website about that I went to that page the part where it says about if you bought a cricket machine before December 2021 you would have to pay them monthly fee that part of that letter is crossed out like almost like they’re not agreeing to that anymore so I’m so confused and people say all those other brands to do the same thing they’re bigger more expensive and I can’t afford them the joy is the perfect size and the one I’m getting or the one I want to get is a bundle deal so I’m getting a really good deal on it but I don’t want to pay the $10 I’m so confused because there was at one point they heard people complain and said if you bought one before This date you were able to not pay the fee but that’s now crossed out in the letter like they don’t do that anymore I’m a little confused

You will be charged once you stop paying for access.

If you downloaded any fonts to your computer from the internet, you won’t be charged to use those. :)

Filter to your “system fonts” and you’ll never be charged for those ;)

If you click continue, it'll show you what it is trying to charge you for. There may be a font or an image that isn't free. Or it's no longer free. Cricut rotates their free images.
Yeah I just saw peoples comments and I realize your video was before the $10 a month so three is limited it changes each month and it’s only 20 of them each month OK I’ll think about it I don’t know I really want a joy but at the same time it’s limiting you and I’m just so confused about that
My video was made when Access was available. Nothing has changed and this information is all still correct :) you can use design space for free with your own fonts and own images with no limits.
What a scam. I bought this machine at costco to make strickers so I would not have to buy them on ebay. I still have to pay for them but I have to do it myself? What a scam and a rip off.
Do you mean pay for the digital images? If so- yes- you have to pay for them if you aren’t using free images. Or you can design them yourself from start to finish for free.
I paid for an image and Cricut want to charge me $19 for make it...

It’s not free, if you have to have a subscription. Change your title.
You do NOT need to pay to use it. And this video shows you how to do that if you watch it.
