Unis got their 50k album sales in just 5 days. Their album in weverse got sold out from time to time, maybe bc of restock. After a week they got fewer sales only adding 6k sales in 4 days.
For a rookie group from a rookie company having that sale is already good knowing that having sales surpassing 20k makes you out of nugudom. Now you can see their slow but sure growth in popularity bc of the care given by their company F and F entertainment. Its so great they treat the girls good by giving them so many exposure in the past week, the kids wear expensive clothes amounting atleast $1500 per outfit.
As of now the group is out there saturating the market more bc of their engagement.
I love data and there are successful 4th gen groups who sold way less than that in their 1st album. I'm not going to mention the group since people might think I'm deliberately comparing. My point is album sales is one factor in defining "success" but there are other factors too. But this is such great news for UNIS.
@@laizeybonestv they honestly sell more since the company spent so much in luxury brands for their clothing. Their outfit costs around $1000 -$2000 in every stage not including accessories.

4:30 Unis position is quite unique. They retain the "global formula" by having japanese members to penetrate biggest market for idols. And for international market Filipina members are important in the line up maybe bc the PD saw potential gateway to penetrate global market since both are exceptional english speakers. Gehlee is the most popular member in PH and arguably also popular in other countries bc of her unconventional visual, im not sure if shes have a good fanbase in SK. Elisia on the other hand have a quite balanced fanbase since shes also popular in PH and in Korea bc of her talent.
Here is the most interesting detail. No other than Seowon. Shes already popular in SK way before UT as a trot singer and also dubbed as "Little Wonyoung". She is currently the youngest idol ever debuted and people kinda gives interest checking out on her. Aside from talents that rivals older members like Elisia. Seowon's popularity rn is growing in China, her fan account in weibo has 55k followers. And i can tell she is the most popular member in SK.
This is why UNIS position is quite unique and for most, peculiar in some point like their ages (only one is an adult), their company, and the fierce competition in kpop rn. Literally, squased between establish labels.
However, even though some might disagree. Debut song does not deliver the current demand in the market which is the trendy tiktok worthy songs. (i love the b-sides tho). But against all odds they still able to show their presence in the charts and nominated against Illit.
In my opinion, in order to make UNIS big is to maintain their momentum by having a solid comeback this year. They got the talent honestly as half of the members can sing well, they just need to play with their strenghts to atleast reach Kiss of Life popularity status this year.
I think we're on the same page for the most part. Some of their b-tracks have a bit more flavor than the title, but I wouldn't necessarily call them better because the obvious production when to the debut song. It's still too soon to say how they should and shouldn't sound, so the real test is what they comeback with. Really, it's that way for all the new 5th gen groups this year. I think you're right in that it's too much ask to compete with NewJeans this soon, but aiming for a Kiss of Life level is doable. They just need to hook the public with something.
If they use Dopamine instead of Superwoman, everything will change.

@@GleeChan Kiss of Life is not as popular as the big four. They have insane talents and good song and that's the prime reason why they get noticed. Their comeback song is better than any other releases this april tbh. But honestly, i am not still sure on how they should sound as their voices are easily distinguishable and they fit into different genres. That hook in superwoman is lacking even though it is a good title track and to survive you need to go better beyond that. And here's why i somehow agree in terms of line distribution issue here. It is so same when elisia gets most of the lines in the whateva performance, the talents of others are being overshadowed when most of them deserve a line. Maybe vocal diversity can make them popular, they can sing high to low register, they need to include this in their formula.
I predict they will reach at most top15 5th gen girlgroup but not "one of the leader of 5th gen" status.
bit low but maybe. Although, it depends on how consistent they are. rn they are at least in top 10 based on records since 5th gen is just started. They can push it honestly. Only with a good song they can be successful. But honestly their debut exceeds everyone's expectation since the survival show did flops.

If we just based on the talents don't count them out. I think their advantages are their refreshing youth energy and live vocal peformance. btw it pronounce as Yu-NIS not O-NIS.
The true is, even the Judges on the show Universal Ticket, can believe they made A New Gen and Unique Kpop girl group different from other Kpop Survival Show , totally All Kpop packages ever.

Unis is an underdog with more talent than their hype and yg counterparts... a surprise considering yg/hybe teams have years of training under the label and Unis are collection of girls from a survival show that just formed about 2 months ago. Korean side of popularity will be mostly on the shoulder of a little 13-year-old girl Seowon. None of the 4th gen seems to be able to match her in singing live while dancing. The only question is if Korean (and international) public can accept an 7th grader as their star. BOA was in 8th grade when she debuted but became a superstar 2 years later. Seowon is about a younger than BOA debut. Can Korean fans stan a kid who is way younger than themselves? While she and Kotoko are expected to gather fans in Korea, it's up to Elisia and Gehlee to win over the hearts of SE Asians and beyond and they are doing pretty well already. Ultimately, it's up to the agency's ability to find a good song for them. If they have good songs, they will be a huge success since they should be able to sing them well.
That why they need strong impact songs or catching mv. Plus their choreo is very weak..😢 maybe bcuz of to young in the group. I am hoping from producer next comeback maybe galactika will be in charge their comeback songs.😊

I think UNIS are really memorable bc they have great vocals and visuals. Each girl is unique. My bias is Gehlee. She is a standout and have great visuals as well as charisma. She reminds me of a young Lisa of BP who had great stage presence. She will be the top key to their success. Also Unis have already fans and are experienced. Luv the diversity in the group. Reminds us of how BTS no offense when they made their debut and they tried where they can't even win one award because Bigbang was a big one before and BTS did their US debut and they hit big time globally. Sometimes local doesn't work cause you're mean for a big thing and sometimes it's the other way around and it hits both ends after. No hate.

I am currently stanning UNIS & ME:I. Both are from survival shows that happen around the same time. ME:I is from Produce101 Japan. Both debut at the same time. I love both groups so much.

I think it's hard to tell who of the rookie groups is going to stand supreme. I still count last years batches as part of that lot because they are also labelled as 5th gen and they are barely getting started. Right now Kiss of Life seems to be the leader in terms of having a discography, being able to perform without seeming like they are rookies, and consistency, BUT let's not forget Babymonster who had a rabid fanbase even before members were announced thanks to company stans and hungry Blinks just wishing for more content. So I think those two are the groups to beat amongst the 5th gens, even though they were a last year premiere.
I do think that we got WAY too many debuts in a short time period and that's going to hurt everyone. Unless you followed the groups before debut, they all seeming just popped up out of nowhere and casual fans don't have time to get hyped for them. They all get muddled together, which Laise brought up, and it doesn't help that most of their sounds don't differ enough to make any one of them stand out as something new. I'm a chatter box know-it-all, I get it, but I do keep up with girl groups and well... even I'm having trouble remembering who's who. I mean we have Rescene, SPIA, ILLIT, VVUP AF Dream Girls, VCHA, Candy Shop, Geenius,... and that's not counting the many groups to come (it's not even half way through the year yet) AND the re-debut of ARTMS - who will technically be counted as a 5th gen group (crazy, I know!). I'm sure I missed some. As it stands right now, no one really stands out as something dramatically different except for some groups last year (KIOF and Young Posse for example).
So really it's "pick your poison" and ride-and-die with them because you can't go wrong on any of them. Every group is talented and have something offer, but it's just a shame that the field is a clustered mess. This is also not taking into account already debuted groups who also are taking attention away from newbies. You just have to hope the one you like are the ones the public chooses. At the moment ILLIT seems to be getting the blessing from TWICE, and if TWICE endorses someone unofficially, ONCE will follow. We've seen it happen with (G)I-DLE during TOMBOY era. But that's only a short term boost. Like with Kiss of Life, if any of these groups want to be viewed as legit they have to be able to constantly deliver, and we won't be able to tell that until a comeback happens. Debut hype only goes so far. Look at bugAboo, Kep1er, or Lightsum. Every new group has to find a way to get attention and this big cluster isn't going to help matters. With burnout starting to show on album sells, it's the groups that have something unique to offer who are doing well.
Have I rambled on enough? I'll just say one more thing: because I'm a big fan of Laize, since she champions UNIS then they probably are a group that I'm going to pay more attention to than I probably would have otherwise. The same happened to me for LE SSERAFIM, as one of my K-Pop Reactors broke from her usual content to make a huge video about why people should stan them. That won me over and I gave LE SSERAFIM more of a chance right when Antifragile hit. Now I'm Fearnot. Let's just hope that UNIS has their Antifragile moment! lol.

You've mention possible ways for the 5th gen to go up the ladder through competition, influences, fan base, collaboration for mass attention, plus what mentioned in the video and I agree. For UNIS I also hope that they will make a waking call craft for them to establish their own path, so that people can recognize them more, and that Debut song is enough for the group to get known. Now Level up, UNIS!

Despite how they're new in the competition especially their company and how lowkey mid their debut song, they're worth stannable. I mean they only have 2 months to prepare for debut but their performances are top-notch and on par with other groups. At the same time, they are all visuals that has unique personalities and how they compliment each other very well, as based on them being comfortable with each other and being chaotic “ψ(｀∇´)ψ

Their strength is their beautiful stable vocals while dancing. Thanks to the VR removed YT channels everyone is finding out who are actually singing live while performing. Some even have out of tune voices like those who were from the group Illit, Kiss of Life etc... Even those who debuted last year or 2 years ago like Ive, Newjeans have unstable live vocals. Only Nmixx are good in their time. This year so far only Vvup, Unis and Babymonsters are up to my standard.

@@calmspring8537 I have some problems with some overproud, annoying , and toxic filipinos on the internet. They suck at dota and those annoying "pinoy pride pinoy pride" comments everywhere. I don't have any problems with Gehlee but her fans praise her like she's that good while she's not.
You have to realize they are under a temporary contract. They can do so much but at the end they will all disband. There is no other way around it since some members especially the korean members are exclusively already signed to an agency already so Unis can never become a permanent group even if all the members want to. They have a good fanbase and they are really talented but no they are not the next big thing and they are a temporary girl group, meaning they will disband within 2 and a half year.
