Sorry no. The ILM rendered spaceships wouldn't look nearly as realistic as a big model. You're contradicting yourselves. There are other videos in which you stated that even the best CG still doesn't come close to the real thing. Also with a model you don't have to rerender the whole scene in case you change your mind. You just need to shoot it from another angle. It's infinitely reusable. Nothing beats the real thing in terms of texture. And even if it was possible why would you? A model can be reused thousands of times as I already said.
*That vortex when the TIE fighters pass through the fireballs might be inaccurate.* The vortex in the scene is the same created by airplanes which have two horizontal surfaces, separated by fuselage. The TIE fighters have two vertical planes, separated by pylons and a sphere. If the rendering is following physical laws, shouldn't the vortex these shapes? Or is it simply just trying to imitate what the ILM crew saw in another movie?
They also built a time machine to get to a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away to make it as authentic as possible. Also, they cast only real Twi'leks to play the Twi'leks, to avoid cultural appropriation.

Since the production had all of the prosthetics and makeup from the first movie, they actually found another actor and stamped those same prosthetics on him to get an old George McFly. This led to some HUGE lawsuits and now there is language within SAG contracts that says you cannot use prosthetics of another actor to portray the same character using a different actor. So with the growing tech that is DeepFakes, I would think this would fall under the same guidelines. For instance, let's say I want to make my own Top Gun movie. I grab my friend that looks (and is short enough lol) to play Tom Cruise and I slap a DeepFake on him, I'm effectively taking Tom Cruises's likeness and stamping it on someone else without his permission. THE FIRE THE FIRE GAVE ME LITERAL CHILLS and the way the fire swirled after the TIE fighters flew through...oh I was so happy. No one else understood why
It sounded just as good, but the explosion wasn't as impressive as the one in Ep.II, but perhaps it's cus the explosion is in an atmosphere which due to air pressure makes it not as big
Another thing I noticed with the Luke scene was the inconsistent lighting. Some shots had really nice highlights on the nose and eyes, while others had more of that generalised lighting. It's barely noticeable but it really throws you off when you realise. Great video as always!
Seriously! Pedro Pascal even talked about it in interviews that it got to the point where he could improv with Grogu and there was one instance where the puppet got close to a "fire" and Pascal accidentally reprimanded him like he was an actual child (and the puppet reacted and everything)
i feel like one of the tells is that even when a person isnt moving, their are still tiny movements on their face like their eyes and mouth. but the deepfake doesnt do those tiny movements.
Please cover the Voldemort rebirth scene from Goblet of Fire when he first gets his new body. That scene blows my mind when his head slowly grows into its final form
Yes, it's all Peter's clones in fact and they have supercomputers constantly working to deepfake the faces of the other guys on themselfs for the videos. Makes sense.
"The Expanse" has a lot of moments where they unnecessarily show low gravity stuff. Sometimes people, sometimes just cups; also liquids. They do it so often, they must´ve found a clever way to simulate it. Wonder if you guys could take a look at it...
if ya asking us which HP scene to react I would say do a deep dive to every single movie and make a multi-part video series and I think people will be happy to see 8 videos from you guys on harry potter!!!
Three great Harry Potter Scenes to cover are when Harry and the gang are running from the death eaters in the crystal ball archive and everything is crashing around them, when Sirius Black is talking to Harry through the fireplace, looking like embers and burning wood, and the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort when they are slinging fire, molding water and transmuting glass into sand.
Yep. The handheld blasters and cannons in the Star Wars universe are more similar to bullet guns and artillery in the real world. They heat up and fire bolts of energy; they do not emit lasers.
It's not how good the CGI is, it's how well it's used. Kudos to this incredibly talented and passionate team that clearly should have been given the reins of the sequel trilogy. Even if you love the trilogy I don't think there could be any argument that talent + vision multiplied for source material passion would have and could have given us something truly special.
The swirling air off of wings is called "Wingtip Vortices" It's caused by the high pressure air from below the wing wrapping around the wingtip to get to the low pressure above the wing (Lift). In actuality the heavier the aircraft, the more lift is created and the stronger the vortex. The vortices off a Boeing 747 can actually flip and damage a smaller Boeing 737.
i have this slight feeling, that Disney poured this much money and effort in the mandalorian as an effort to make people look away from the trilogy which riled everybody up so much
TLJ is the least "for money" of the Sequel Trilogy. love him or hate him, Rian Johnson is a filmmaker with a vision just like George Lucas. TFA was definitely a cash grab (even though I enjoyed it), and TROS was more of a pandering to the people that hated TLJ than it was a proper story, but TLJ at least had a strong theme and told a genuine story.
I think it looks better than Rogue One Leia, but worse than Rogue One Tarkin. it's the dead eyes, and the motion of the face that really take away from it.
@@knightbot4052 Really? 'Cause I actually thought Rogue One Leia was much better than Rogue One Tarkin. Even once I realized it had to be fake, Leia still looked fully realistic, but Tarkin suddenly looked like a cartoon.
What you’re seeing with the ships and planes are called wingtip vortices. Like wren said it’s caused by the pressure differential between the air moving over and under the wing at the same mass flow rate. The top of a airfoil is actually a longer distance for the flow of air to cover and the underside of the airfoil is relatively straight. The flow over the top must leave the trailing edge the same time as the flow from the bottom. This causes the air on the top to speed up and create a zone of low pressure. The air on the bottom of the wing wants to equalize the pressure but is stopped by the wind itself. With the tips of the wing we see a flow resulting in what we call wash out. Where the flow on the underside of the wing desperately attempts to get to the top of the wing and thus takes an angular path outwards. When it comes off the side of the wing, it rushes to the low pressure zone. This happens at ever position of the wing tip relative to its position in space. So as the wing moves forward it leave a spiral of air in the process of equalizing pressure. With faster speeds we see the spiral become smaller in radius and thus create more lift for the wing. This is actually a phenomenon that is impossible to see in 2-D airfoil calculations and created a bit of paradox in the aerospace community when flight and flight calculations were in their early stages. Because in calculation when using the thin airfoil approximations an airfoil would appear to make no lift, but it practice it would, this is do to washout and wing tip vortices. - Graduate Student in Aerospace Engineering

@@timegentleman it was just a joke man, they even show the cgi used in star wars. they still appreciate it, but it’s kinda obvious that the sequel trilogy was not purely done out of passion, theres passion in there but I think the biggest factor was still the money.

They went to a bunch of effort to make the smoke and fire swirl around the TIE fighters in a way that is very specific to airplanes with wings. It's really really cool, for sure, but that strong double-swirl thing is very much a result of wing airflow. TIE fighters fly using vectored thrust, kind of like a hovering Harrier. You can see that in the famous silhouette shot in Force Awakens. It would do somewhat similar things to smoke, but with more turbulence and less strong vorticity.

Even though they were talking about the Trilogy and not the character. They used a footage of Rey because she was the face of that Trilogy. Could they of chosen better footage? Hell yeah! They should of used the poster for one of the sequel films.
@@TheOvervoid I would be willing to argue that the recent movies are more of a cash grab than the prequels. At least they had SOME characters I cared about and SOME story. Rey is a horrible character devoid of conflict, just following the story. She never makes big/hard decisions.
A couple things tho - there's no ripples in the water as they pull the ship out on the crane. In real life, all the water sloshing off the top as it emerges would cause rippling as the water re-collects with itself. Also, you guys didn't discuss how the sound design adds SO much to the visual water effects. Especially as the ship slams down onto the dock.

THE FIRE
THE FIRE GAVE ME LITERAL CHILLS
and the way the fire swirled after the TIE fighters flew through...oh I was so happy. No one else understood why
I’m surprised that you didn’t talk about the seismic charge in that episode
I was a little disappointed ngl
It sounded just as good, but the explosion wasn't as impressive as the one in Ep.II, but perhaps it's cus the explosion is in an atmosphere which due to air pressure makes it not as big
I swear you guys are making history in developing the VFX community
Another thing I noticed with the Luke scene was the inconsistent lighting. Some shots had really nice highlights on the nose and eyes, while others had more of that generalised lighting. It's barely noticeable but it really throws you off when you realise. Great video as always!
Not gonna lie whenver I see Grogu continuing to blink and move behind the scenes it really convinces me he's real
Yup. More uncanny valley skullduggery. The tech just isn't there yet and I wish effects people would admit it.
Please cover the Voldemort rebirth scene from Goblet of Fire when he first gets his new body. That scene blows my mind when his head slowly grows into its final form
Petition for Corridor Crew to make a shirt that reads "But do the pores stretch?"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
With Nico's face
Better: face mask with "Trust me, the pores are stretching"
Plotwist: Everyone at corridor is actually a Deepfake.
Yes, it's all Peter's clones in fact and they have supercomputers constantly working to deepfake the faces of the other guys on themselfs for the videos. Makes sense.
Plot twist: I never saw this comment on every corridor crew video
love that u guys make me appreciate something as small as water simulation like seriously i never noticed how top teir that shot was but im amazed now
HP scene: Fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic
Oh yes! The part where the glass shards turn into sand is awesome!
5th movie
This
Yes!!!!
"The Expanse" has a lot of moments where they unnecessarily show low gravity stuff. Sometimes people, sometimes just cups; also liquids. They do it so often, they must´ve found a clever way to simulate it. Wonder if you guys could take a look at it...
This! Breaking down some of the shots in The Expanse would be amazing!
I love that series
Hey guys Netflix’s “sweet home” has so pretty interesting VFX and I think you guys would enjoy tackling the VFX used in the show.
Holy shit YES I wanna see the Harry Potter stuff
Came down here to comment that. Ended up leaving a like.
harry potter scene: Alfonso Cuaron loves going through glass. The boggart scene seems to be the greatest example of that.
When that one x-wing flew into frame we all knew wha was about to go down
It made me freak the fuck out seeing it for the first time since 1983
In Fantastic Beasts 2 there is a scene where the girl turns into a snake and I'd love to see you guys react to it :)
if ya asking us which HP scene to react I would say do a deep dive to every single movie and make a multi-part video series and I think people will be happy to see 8 videos from you guys on harry potter!!!
- Voldemort and Dumbledore duel in OotP
- Dragon in GoF
- The Dementors
- Fred and George fireworks in OotP
Three great Harry Potter Scenes to cover are when Harry and the gang are running from the death eaters in the crystal ball archive and everything is crashing around them, when Sirius Black is talking to Harry through the fireplace, looking like embers and burning wood, and the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort when they are slinging fire, molding water and transmuting glass into sand.
The lasers in star wars are gas based, so theoretically they could act like a gasoline explosion
Yep. The handheld blasters and cannons in the Star Wars universe are more similar to bullet guns and artillery in the real world. They heat up and fire bolts of energy; they do not emit lasers.
@@hw2577 EAT LASER CLANKA!!!
The Gas it's actually called Tivana i think
I would love to see you guys do a R rated version of Harry Potter.
PLEASE look at Neville on a broom in A sorcerer's stone. Its definitely something.
Now this. This is what we want
you could say .... this is the way

The moment I saw Gideon’s ship in space I shouted “Oh shit it’s a real model!!” So glad I was right.
“It’s not all for the money”
(Shows shot of The Last Jedi)
i have this slight feeling, that Disney poured this much money and effort in the mandalorian as an effort to make people look away from the trilogy which riled everybody up so much
I choked laughing at that one
Yea I noticed that too
Yeah the sequels were straight garbage made only for nostalgia money. I don’t know why Disney doesn’t just put Jon and Dave in charge of Lucasfilm
Niko: it's not all for money
*shows pic of the latest trilogy*
TLJ is the least "for money" of the Sequel Trilogy. love him or hate him, Rian Johnson is a filmmaker with a vision just like George Lucas. TFA was definitely a cash grab (even though I enjoyed it), and TROS was more of a pandering to the people that hated TLJ than it was a proper story, but TLJ at least had a strong theme and told a genuine story.
People saying Mando Luke looks worse than Rogue One Leia need to get they eyes checked
Rogue one Leia was so much worse especially cause it was an actual movie not a tv show
I think it looks better than Rogue One Leia, but worse than Rogue One Tarkin. it's the dead eyes, and the motion of the face that really take away from it.
@@knightbot4052 Really? 'Cause I actually thought Rogue One Leia was much better than Rogue One Tarkin. Even once I realized it had to be fake, Leia still looked fully realistic, but Tarkin suddenly looked like a cartoon.
They are just salty.
I think Rogue One Leia looks slightly creepier but I think it also depends on what cost more as far as which is worse.

Harry Potter 4: The "Fight scene" with Voldemort and of course the Dragon scene.. Especially the ones where they are on the roof
For Harry Potter basically any of the challenges from goblet of fire.
The Wesley Joke shop scene.
Fluffy in Sorcerers Stone.
The Basilisk.
Werewolf transformation in Prisoner of Azkhban.
Sectum Sempra spell and healing in Half Blood Prince.
Overall compassion from the earlier movies and the later ones
Clint: and when you're sitting on the toilet
Me who's sitting on the toilet: A jedi he is
The “lasers” are in the cannon is super heated gas bursts
It's called plasma
Harry Potter scene suggestion: Voldemort vs Dumbledore in Order of the Phoenix.
One of my favorite scenes, and the best wizard duel of the series imo. Would love to see a vfx breakdown of this! 🧙🏼♂️
Best magic fight in the entire series.
Maybe do Dumbledore vs Gandalf?
Me: “did they just drop a real phone into the toilet?”
Remembers these are special effects experts.
And yes, they probably did just that. The phone is IP68 rated after all
I'm gonna blow your mind... search "stock footage" in them interwebs

For the Luke they could have just used Sebastian Stan for him and it would have looked really good
As conflicted as I would be to recast Luke, I am so ready for Sebastian Stan to take over the role. He would hands down be better then deep fake/cg. I knew something was off with Luke and because of all the fan pics of SS as Luke, I thought it was him at first

@@timegentleman it was just a joke man, they even show the cgi used in star wars. they still appreciate it, but it’s kinda obvious that the sequel trilogy was not purely done out of passion, theres passion in there but I think the biggest factor was still the money.

I'm pretty sure Clint only watches Kung Fu movies and Anime. Does that seem like an accurate assumption?
My guess is he doesn't even watch them either 😂
I think for _Harry Potter_ it could be interesting to look at how the same things look in different films, ie the Whomping Willow in films 2 & 3 or the Centaurs in films 1 & 5.
You guys need “but, do the pores stretch” merch.
Corridor crew's favorite word : *_Pores_*
Mainly niko's but yes xd
that and “Janky”
don’t forget muzzle flash
Holy moly!! The water shot is absolutely incredible! 😮🤯👏👏👏👏

Listen to Niko explaining how pores stretch
There’s a scene in Prisoner of Azkaban where the camera flies through a mirror and it’s probably really simple but I wanna see how they did it
The Nutty Professor! Breaking down that Dinner Scene would be amazing!
The scene where Voldemort smashes all the glass inside the ministry of magic during the fight with Dumbledoor, 👌🏻
I have a scene for Harry Potter! Philosopher's stone: Professor McGonagall turning from a cat to person. I would really like to know if it was cg or a practical effect
That wasn't an effect, Maggie Smith is an actual Animagus.
@@JudeFergy isn’t it weird they’re gonna do a CGI artist react to Harry Potter when there is no CGI at all? The camera man just had an invisibility cloak with him and record the whole thing...
Harry Potter:
Good: The basilisk in Chamber of Secrets
The dragons in Goblet of Fire and Deathly Hallows
Bad: The troll in Sorcerer's Stone
Grogg in Order of the Phoenix
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, where Dumbledore cleans up Slughorn's mess!
I was hoping they would look at the seismic charge, I think it looked pretty neat.
Finally Harry Potter reaction.. we want Dobby analyses, he's the best thing after Gollum
Yes! Compare first and last appearance of Dobby in the series.
And yet still not as good, interesting though.
Harry Potter shots: anything to do with quidditch
Voldemort on the back of quirrels head
Voldemort forming his new body in goblet of fire
How everything froze on the train during the dementor attack in prisoner of Azkaban
How they did the basilisk
How they made dobby and kreatre
Both poly juice potion transformation scenes
How they did Harry’s arm with no bones in it.
Where Harry is flying the hippogriff over the water,
The dragon climbing out of Gringgots and flying away with them on the back
I honestly thought the razorcrest getting pulled out of the water was practical effects with a little model, wow!
Have you guys ever considered reacting to "ghost" videos? Some of them out there are clearly fake, but there are some that appear legit (to my untrained eye, at least). It would be cool to get some VFX artist viewpoints
BUMP
That's actually a pretty cool idea.
I second your suggestion.

Massive oof
Even though they were talking about the Trilogy and not the character. They used a footage of Rey because she was the face of that Trilogy.
Could they of chosen better footage? Hell yeah! They should of used the poster for one of the sequel films.
@@TheOvervoid I would be willing to argue that the recent movies are more of a cash grab than the prequels. At least they had SOME characters I cared about and SOME story. Rey is a horrible character devoid of conflict, just following the story. She never makes big/hard decisions.
@@TheOvervoid they used Rey not only because she was the face of the trilogy, but she was one of the biggest issues with the movies as a whole
CLINT: I’ll pretend I understand what’s going on in every video
How can someone in the industry watch ZERO films and shows?
@@peatorv In a few years, they'll release a video showing how Clint was CG the whole time.
I love how purposefully not subtle this video was when he said "There's still passion and craft in this and it's not all for money" and then quickly cut in a clip of the new trilogy.
Especially with how inaccurate it is
