I did a lot of research when painting my pulse rifle including going to see an original firing hero rifle on display at the Royal Armouries (but that one was painted black for Alien 3 then repainted an incorrect olive green. I learned they pretty much painted everything of the Marines (From the APC to floppy discs but not the armour) in the brownish green grey Brown Bess or a colour very close to it and that was the colour seen here on the welder. Brown Bess was redeveloped by Humbrol several years later into the clay brown colour Adam's rifle is. You can see surviving stunt rifles that have been sold in auction used in filming and they closely match the welder too.
Here is a great idea! In the tip that seems to have an actual welding tip. Modify that and put a light in it. The size light that might go into a pen sized flash light. Then take two things you want to weld, such as two flat pieces of metal sitting at a 90° angle from one another. They can be connected or not as long as you cannot tell.. Then take a sparkler and place it in the joint. On the welder make sure the blast shield is something like a sunglass glass. Then make a video using the prop welder, from the point of view of looking through the shield. Light the sparkler, and the light in the prop at the same time, and you should have what sort of looks like a welder that is really welding.

Have you ever thought about doing cutaways to pictures or clips that you are referencing? Would save me having to then search for a whole bunch of things during/after the video 😂
Adam is so cool mane😀🍪
Does anyone know how much it went for?
Especially not having seem the original colour I could talk myself into thinking your rifle was green and depending on how lit up it is the colour shifts quite a bit on both props and sometimes the colours do look almost the same. Of only the prop builder would spill their secrets from their paint rack xD
LOVE BRADNDON!!!
It’s Fantastic that Adam knows a lot that the prop guy dosent lmao
Yea he smokes this guy in knowledge! Haha
I’ve met Savage twice and was lucky enough to hang around and listen to him talking with people and the guy is truly a Know it All. I mean that in a great way because he has just exposed and thrown himself into so much in life that he is an incredible hub of knowledge!
Also, truly a great guy that devotes time to his fans…
Adam knows his shit
Brandon has to know a little about a LOT, including stuff that Adam wouldn't know or care about.
Go to the Legacy boards. People there have forgotten more about Aliens props than most people will ever know.
@@thomasbecker9676 I’ve still got my Alien toy from when I was a kid. Even my granddaughter loves Alien especially the one with Newt! Haha
Wow,I read the description wrong. I was expecting a creepy anamatronic Alien hand.
"you had a pulse rifle within five feet there!!" :D
Can anyone link me to the photo of r2 Adam was talking about
_"One-Day WELD"_
😊😊😊
Extremely cool geek content here. Just curious though (and it makes no difference to the production), is is not a touch off to have a very futuristic device featuring ordinary slotted-head screw fasteners? Not meant as a put down.
Need to get Jim Cameron on Tested.
How many reference photos and measurements do you think Adam took of this? 😁
Wow!! Awesome 👍
*casually introduces screen accurate pulse rifle like that's a thing you just have lying about*
Mightn't the color of the paint also have changed just from aging for 35 years?
I’m just trying to imagine the number of photos Adam will be taking of this prop.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it spent some time on a grid mat and possibly being videoed at high resolution on a turntable for 3D modeling
and now there's hundreds of them being made
Every one-day-build is a some-day-build.
why do these pocket welders not exist yet?
The Alien welder: Next one day build.
DID YOU GET REFERENCE PHOTOS AND A COLOR MATCH!?😍😮
OK, Downloaded from the Auction page.
Moar Aliens stuff pleeeeeease
Should have built that pulse rifle with a rifle firing Thompson reproduction. Then it would be a really legit prop.
Gun control laws might prevent that in California.
@@evanlindsey1100 I don’t think for a modern repro Thompson. It’s semi auto only, has a barrel over 16”. All he would have to do is make sure it’s “Cali compliant” and it wouldn’t be a big deal. Plus gun props can be specifically licensed: and I’m sure this legend would have no issue achieving that.
Why knows Adam more of all the props then the propstore when they are going to him. This isn’t the first time that he has learnt propstore something.
Adam knows almost everything 😉
I remember when I toured Prop Store in LA years ago with a few friends; we wound up identifying a fair number of pieces they either had mislabeled or didn't know what they were.
Aliens is one of my favorite prop movies! Please do a video Adam on your pulse rifle !!
Well now I have to go watch the movie again….
Great... now I'll be on ebay for the rest of the day to buy parts to build THIS prop too.
Good luck, lol. Those Hama parts are like hen's teeth.
Brown Bess. Tins are like Unicorn poop.
I was lucky enough to have a sample from Nickatron and got a quart pretty well color-matched.
Seems like a very odd choice of thing to equip a soldier/marine with! Handy though :)
@@Feroce yeah good point!
Ok…FINE, I will watch Alien again! Sheesh, lay off.
I've build a live fire pulse rifle if yall ever want to test it lol
Only on Tested can you get a title card that says "Non-Working Model".
Looks like it was being clutched by someone on another planet, while being chased by aliens, during his last moments. Then it was returned to Earth 35 years later.
