They sound better cause you're blowing power out the tail pipe and waste gate. Modern turbo setups are more efficient in boost controlling so less power is lost, therefore less sound is heard
The body kit isn't OTT like a lot you see which I like. Actually first thought it was OEM. I remember sitting in this or a mazda mx2 with a custom exhaust and it was a headturner

@@jose_s_bam7938 lol, nope has been totally reliable. Maintenance is essential then you don't worry about it. Ran for 6 years in my ownership with BPU then wanted more power so the engine was built to handle more. Since 2014 no issues.
@@UnseenSpirit This was done over 10 years. The engine build was around £4000 excluding parts. If I add up everything it's crazy. Just gather your parts first then find a good engine builder. Are you in the UK?

That's because it's a Rear Mid Engine car. All cars like this (Ferrari, Lamborghini, and clearly Porsche - it being a true rear engine)have the snap tendency if you don't know what shifting weight does to your car.
I use to have one of these around the same sort of power. That turbo noise from behind you neber gets old. It was by far one of best cars I ever had....Years of joy with mine

And not a chance in hell it's 10plus seconds with four hundred ponies, skipping second I think. Or it was just waiting for the turbo lag to go away and build boost pressure. Maybe set too high with a big turbo and needed time to build to the psi so took longer to hit sixty. My guess anyway...

I had one! It was a 1994 Stock MR2 Turbo T-bar which I imported from Japan. I didn’t make any mods to it but it did go on the dyno once and was 250HP. I really liked it and only sold it because I left UK to live overseas. I had the Mk 1 MR2 before that, another lovely car. Both very expensive if you can find one these days.
Had a Mr2 around 14 years ago but was a a non turbo version. Not long ago also had the Toyota Celica Gt4 UK model which was one of the best cars I ever owned and drove. Love the old school content tho and the owner seems like a cool person too. 👍
OMG!! That's MY old car. It used to run 1.3 bar through that Apexi and a 150 shot of gas. If you look in the boot floor you'll see a couple of pairs of holes from the bottle brackets. I miss that car every day. I remember the first week I had it I went to a dyno day. It only made 268hp but was all over the back of my mates GT4 that made 323hp. I guess weight,transmission loss, gearing. With the gas it would step out in the dry at 90. I can't recommend Rev3 + SW20s enough. It had a Toms scoop. Not sure if it was taken off. I'll post some vids, I've got a few of her. Oh and it'll do 60+ in second revving out to 7250. You don't need 3rd. Man I miss it. I sold it in 2008. Awesome car dude, if the speed matters remap it to pick up the boost earlier and linearly. Also a ignition cut switch on gearstick for full throttle shifting
This is one of the nicest mr2s I've seen. Just watched boostedbois k20 twin turbo which made over 500 at 10 psi for just a base tune, they just need to make theirs look as good as this now
I miss my MR2! Remember the first time the tail stepped out on me in the rain, my go karting days came back to me pretty quickly. Commitment is so important with the MR2 if you hold back it'll punish you, lift off oversteer is the real danger in these, the nose dips, the back end looses grip and it's going round on you. Do the right thing, stay committed apply opposite lock and keep on the gas and it'll have you smiling all day long!
I'm getting one soon from my brother in law. The snap understeer is what is scaring me. However I've heard if you drive it like a motorbike then you should be OK
Yes sir, dont let off mid-corner unless a quick U-turn is necessary...and ya wanted it🤔😁. Had a few mk1's and learned on the 1st one thankfully. The MK2 is being built as we speak, only taking it to around 300-350. Cannot wait, some times just stand there looking at it...hearing that turbine build up & then exhaling. Great sounds, bought mine in Georgia and drove back to CO, the wife wasn't always that pleased with my "safe highway" speeds however. Always a good time

Had two mr2 mk2's and loved them both with all my heart, first one was a standard one the other was Japanese import rev2 turbo with t-bar then dropped a rev3 engine in it when the rockers blew the 3engine up for some reason

That was my exact car. In 08 she ran a 13.8@104 near stock. Just Exhaust, Apexi avcr at 1.2 bar. That was 282hp. At 430 it'll be capable if a 12 flat.

Makes me miss my MR2 Turbo plenty room to improve on that 0-60 mine was 320 bhp and could do it in 4.9
Had two mr2 mk2's and loved them both with all my heart, first one was a standard one the other was Japanese import rev2 turbo with t-bar then dropped a rev3 engine in it when the rockers blew the 3engine up for some reason
