Watched these videos a lot when I was shooting for my highschool trap team as a freshman. I’m 25 now and these are still nice to watch for the memories. Cheers
Mr. Batha, I'm new to the sport and I appreciate these videos because you are insightful and concise. This video in particular has been the most helpful for me. The idea of soft focus and letting your eyes operate on instinct is simple and keeps me from trying to anticipate the path and keep gun movement smooth and minimalist.
Thanks for your instructional video series! After watching them all a few times this past Saturday, I went to my local trap range on Sunday. I've never been a shotgunner so I watched a little and then shot a couple of rounds. Didn't do all that great of course, but it was FUN! I went back on Monday and on my second round I ran 17 straight and finished the round with 21! Now I'M HOOKED! Still working of consistency of course, but after a few more rounds and trying different techniques I'm shooting in the mid to upper teens after a few rounds this week. Oh, and BTW, the raising of the eyebrows really does help me see the bird just a bit quicker. Thanks again for giving me a starting point!
You probably dont give a shit but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my account password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Josue Fisher I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I've shot mainly down the line as kid and this year come back to full competition and found that low gun holds to the trap have change to high gun hold above the tray by watching the videos and other high performing shooter and making little change my shooting is becoming easier and smoother than it was 30 years ago. there's video have a lot of simple well spoken techniques that do help. thanks
Thank you! Is the gun in your video a 20 or 12-gauge shotgun? When shooting trap or sports shooting, does a 12- gauge shotgun give the shooter an advantage compared to using a 20-gauge shotgun?
Shout out to Mr Batha. Wow what a difference his trap shooting videos have made for me. After implementing his recommendations for looking into the distance vs focusing on the trap house and holding at certain points over the trap house based on which shooting position you are at plus going from two eyes open to one eye open I improved my 4 round average from 10 to 20. Basically 100% improvement overnight. I’m very happy I found his videos. Thank you sir.
It's all very well to say "See bird, shoot bird". It's harder to do it. The trick as I see it is to get that shotgun mounted so it follows your hard focus. As soon as you attain sharp binocular vision, it means your eyes and brain are computing the tracking solution in range, bearing and elevation in order to STAY in binocular vision (and focused). And that's the optimum time to take your shot. That's why see-bird/shoot-bird works.
I just started shooting trap after wanting to for years. As I suspected I have huge eye dominance issues. I just mounted a fiber optic bead on my shotgun and eye dominance problem solved! The only eye that can see the bead is the one on the gun. Brilliant! Now I can shoot both eyes open.
As ever Great Videos from Chris showing the beginners and Intermediate shooters correct procedure and as he say's follow his lead and Open the Door to a better way of shooting ,see bird shoot bird in Either Skeet or Trap it works so use this analogy
You sir, are an excellent coach. I had trouble picking up the clays, I went from bare!y connecting with 5 or 7 clays to 15. Your videos have helped this beginner imensley. I love the friendliness and willingness to share knowledge that I have encountered in this sport. Would love to shoot with you one day, but until then I'll keep watching and learning.
I should have never started watching videos. First time ever shooting trap I just shot. Didn’t think. Broke 14/25. Second time, 19/25. Then I started watching videos, and now I’m breaking 8 - 10!
