Love that tequila sunrise color, back in the day I remember looking through those old Bass Pro catalogues and wanting all the cool colors of power worm. Just picked up some kinky beavers in Blacklight, SUPER cool looking color, can't wait to try it!

You just inspired me to go to tackle warehouse and put a 🐸 box together, just put in a order for 12 different kinds and sizes. Should get them by my birthday on the 12 next month, we only have a handful of weeks left for good frog fishing. BTW Red Shad is my go to power bait worm color. I caught some of my biggest fish on that color.
I have the gold gill kaera, great frog. Most excited about the big swimbait, I'm in the same boat, trying to start throwing them myself. Be nice to see someone else struggle lol

I use a vmc ewg hook that has an extra long “neck” and it keeps the plastics on really well. I could only ever find them at gander though so I bought about 10 packs when they went out
Debo, Debo, Debo... Want a big frog; SPRO King Daddy 90. A Musky took my first one on my first cast. (SPRO Dean Rojas Bronzeye King Daddy Frog Midnight Walker) What happen to the Mann’s SpringR worms? I use Tru-turn worm hooks on Culprit worms and fish them weightless; the color you picked is a good one. I always liked Stanley jigs and spinnerbaits. Very often; if you explore lure manufacture websites you find the most interesting baits not known about in most tackle stores. Three Stanley sell are the Sidetrac Cobra, Hale 6” Sidetrac Mudpuppy and Slide `N’ Glide Pocket worm. All are explained in detail on videos how they work. Most soft plastics are just the same old thing with a different name. The ones to try most are ones that have built in features no others have. Trust me; this is important and makes for great discoveries; seldom known to only a small few. These old boys are some smart anglers. They haven’t been sit-in around eating Moon Pies and drink in RC Cola all these years. Try some Mann’s 10" HardNose Floating Snakes too. Be careful; because Turtles love them. I once watched a big Pike lying under water under a bush hanging over the water. The bush was full of water snakes sunning. Mr. Pike was patiently waiting for one to drop into the water. And one quite big one came to a brutal death when it did. Try some D.O.A. C.A.L. Sna-Koil Soft Baits sold at Dick’s too. They come thru weeds and reeds better than frogs do. I started out using Doug Hannon ones and now use these two.

I love the Berkeley powerbait 10” ribbon tail worm in motor oil red. It’s not the most durable bait, but I have a lot of success with it. Just got the tequila sunrise color. We’ll see how that does

I have tried using a cheap glide bait 2 or 3 times with one smallmouth follow right up to me before it turned away. So I just got an S-Waver delivered from TW yesterday in the lite trout color. I would like to see how you fish a glide bait like the Pistol Pete. A few days ago, I went early to a lake in the mountains where there is not a lot of pressure. Tried topwater for 3 hours with only one small blowup. I finally switched to black/blue plastic worms and ManBearPig in tramp stamp to catch 4 largemouth. All between 1.5 to 2 pounds. At least I figured out what they wanted.

PowerBait worms.... I use those on a spinnerbait when nothing is working. I was on vacation for a week at the cabin and dude try it out. I caught alot of bass.
I'm just getting back into fishing for the first time since I was a kid and I have a tendency to over-buy with new hobbies. This was not good for me to see haha
Get 3 baits to start, some kinda topwater, some kind of bottom bait, and some kind of moving bait, personally I recommend a frog, some senko's, and a spinnerbait, they may not be lifes most exciting baits, but they will pretty much catch fish year round, and learning WHERE fish are during various times of the year is much more helpful than having a billion baits and no clue where or when to throw them
I prefer June bug but that tequila sunrise has a nice color. And frogs all the frogs. I have yet to catch one on a frog but I am bound to do so before the end of the season. My issue is getting out, I need to go more often!
Debo that Kaera frog is really good. Bought a few last year. They have a nice tight erratic walk. You’ll definitely love that molix sneaky frog. It’s probably the best walking frog out there now. You should also try the Megabass Big Gabot frog!!! Bigger frog with a popping style mouth. Check out another good lure from molix called the supernato. It’s a frog style lure but has a squarebill lip. Made for swimming thru heavy cover or u can work it topwater like a frog.

Power Bait, Culprit, and Zoom big worms for the win! Here lately I've tried Bass Pro Shops' 10" worm and it has performed very well. Caught 3 fish on the first worm and still had life left in it. I've always had good luck with Moccasin, Black/Purple, and Watermelon Candy colors.

Debo, I do love my plastics so the worms you have all look interesting. With plastics you need good hooks. I am a big fan of the VMC resin coated hooks. Also a major Owner and Gamakatsu fan. This past year I also got into Mustad KVD grip pin super line and fine wire hooks. They have a unique bait keeper that works very well especially with Z-Man and other tough durable plastics. Not so well with Senko’s. I use them with Senko’s but they only last maybe for two fish. I am starting to use bigger hooks even on 4 and 5” baits. My theory is it is harder to gut hook and easier to remove. Not scientific but seems to work this year. The bites are subtle, hard to detect and by the time I do set the hook they have it for too long. The larger hook seems to solve that issue. I am using a good reel and rod so detecting is not the issue. I also like the hooks with the longer neck. I will give them a try.

Just got my new Lews Speed Spool and I was wondering what line and rod to pair it with. Im a tall guy and I primarily fish from bank and kayak, this is my first baitcasting reel and I have always loved braid over anything else on my spinning set-ups. the line works great for me but I use 15lb braid on them and am afraid that it would dig in. I was really leaning towards 20 or 25lb braid as my selection and I have been told that I should use mono on my bait caster as its my first one. I really value casting distance and throw a lot of texas rigs, crank baits, and sometimes even lighter jigs. What are your recommendations or suggestions?
15lb mono is a great all around line. It does have a lot more stretch than braid so you'll have to keep that in mine. A MH rod rated for lures upnto 3/4 oz is my favorite "do-it-all" rod.
I’m diggin’ all the frogs!! There’s a myth out there about RED... fish are supposed to associate that with blood, or a wounded fish. What do you think?
I have no clue. I've heard so many things about colors they can see, colors they can't see. I'll have to test on my own to see if they'll eat the frog!
I've got to the point where I only throw the 2 R2S frogs. The Bullywa walks better in open water and I prefer that frog there. The Ish frog is better in thicker cover, it has a flatter bottom and makes a nice indentation if you get some surface slop. That's my 2c on the frogs.
Excited to see the frogs, powerbait worms, and definitely that huge glide bait. I don't own or have ever thrown a glide bait that size, so I'll live vicariously through you.
Hah! That used to be my second favorite next to tequila sunrise. I honestly haven't thrown that color for a long time. Pops always outfished me with TS...so...i just gravitated toward that.
When the fish are in the right mood you can't beat a glide bait. Most of the time I get them to just follow it in and at least I see what is really swimming around. Like anything I guess there is a time and place for them.
Yeah, that's what I really have to figure out. Oh ...this would be perfect for a big glide...I don't have that confident "ah haaaa!" Moment with them yet.

I use the owner worm hooks. The long shank helps to keep worms there. And save a lot of plasticks.

Ribbon tails my favorite. I use the same style hook. Slide the plastic all the way on the hook.
I use the weedless wide gap hooks for wacky rigging in weedy ponds. Haven't used them on ribbon tails.

I used it and caught a few on it. I still prefer a 110 plopper or 120 berkley choppo.

Braid will help with detecting the bite. Even if you run a leader.

I noticed that it does well. The heavy and large size are nice in slop!

Hah! That used to be my second favorite next to tequila sunrise. I honestly haven't thrown that color for a long time. Pops always outfished me with TS...so...i just gravitated toward that.

Honestly, it has held up really well! The Daiwa J-braid is good, a lot of people like power pro. I've got a couple others that I'm testing too.

I'm not sure? Some spinnerbaits just don't put it on there. I love the nichols pulsators and they don't have a plastic keeper either...💁♂️
I like the gamakatsu super line worm hooks, they’ve worked pretty good for me so far. I kinda wanna see the frogs and the twin turbos get used

I actually just picked up some of those power baits curly tails same color in 7in. Haven't gotten to really fish them yet unfortunately.

When the fish are in the right mood you can't beat a glide bait. Most of the time I get them to just follow it in and at least I see what is really swimming around. Like anything I guess there is a time and place for them.
Yeah, that's what I really have to figure out. Oh ...this would be perfect for a big glide...I don't have that confident "ah haaaa!" Moment with them yet.
I have never used a weed less EWG hook on a big worm. Always something new to try. Thank you Debo.

Debo do you keep your plastics in the bags and just throw them in the tackle box or do you take them out and put them in the plastic boxes?
Nope, I always keep them in the bags. Plastics can react with a box and melt, smell awful, and ruin a box.

I have tried it, but you really need the weighted line to cast them. So it doesn’t really work.
