If I had a dollar for every time I've listened to this YEM (and the rest of the 94 red rocks show) over the past 15 years, I'd have enough money to buy a time travel machine and actually go back to this show
Trey wails on The Note and love Fish's enthusiastic shouts, but the MVP of this one, and the reason I've listened to this more than any YEM is Michael Gordon. He must've found the resonant frequency of the Rocks, because he just lays it down!
26 years later...still an absolute manslaughter of music and vibrations. I was born the following morning (6/12/94) this yem and these yams brought me to this wild ass planet. cheers sapiens!
If you listen closely you can hear Mike say “too many notes” at 14:55 This YEM changed my life the first time I heard it. Just an all out onslaught with an incredibly contagious energy. When they get going it’s just a tidal wave of sound that washes over you!
I was there on shrooms, it was the best phish show I ever saw. Was there in 96 too when they were banned cus hippies crashed the gates. I was one of those hippies. Good times. I'm 51 now haven't seen phish since the great went in Maine.
The '94 Red Rocks shows were my two first Phish shows and my mind was blown open and has never been the same. Up till then I figured their albums were mostly studio magic. As a very young bassist myself I didn't see how they could do it all. Anyway, I wound up at every Red Rocks show from then on except '09. Great times and would love to hear their music bouncing round the rocks again. They truly are exceptionally magic there with the way the wind blows the sound and echoes off Ship Rock and Creation Rock. The light show at night and how it blends into the night view of the Denver metro beyond....
My favorite YEM. At least my favorite that I've heard so far and I've heard many a YEM. This entire show as a whole is definitely among my top 3 favorite/greatest phish shows. 94 as a whole was just great and probably my favorite year for phish along with 98 and 95 etc.
My first show that kicked off my first tour! Rurnt for life. I was supposed to live a "normal" life after this? The fabric of space and time had just been torn asunder in front of my very eyes! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ditto what everyone on Earth who knows Phish thinks and says about what is and always will be "THE" YEM For some reason my favorite part of YEM is the single note Fish hits on the wood block 4:06. Can't explain it, I guess with YEM being a complicated composed song that's always "busy" as so much is all happening at the same time from beginning to end its a little island in a sea turmoil. The single wood block is like a brief pause, moment of silence, catch your breath, its allowing you to take and soak it all in and prepare yourself for lift off.
I love this yem and I was at this show which note for note is near perfect. Someone told me to check the Albany Dec '95 yem and that was unbelievable too.
the wood block is one of the best moments in any YEM, no less this one - the tension builds and builds, and at just the right moment, Fishman turns a key and the flower blooms
99% of what is wrong in the world today can be attributed to the fact that this YEM has less than 29K views. An absolutely exquisite version, and for me, the definitive one.
Best show ever. Thanks for uploading! I could never find it throughout the years and my cruddy cassette was practically destroyed. Noobs better recognize this gem xD
This is the highlight of one of the greatest shows ever. Wish there was a video of this show. I was there and swear some dude was recording. Where are you, my man?
God damn, Trey’s first note of his solo in the jam is maybe the best planted single note ever!!! Not taking away from the rest of the jam cuz it is jaw droppingly amazing, starting of with the perfect note didn’t hurt
Best. Show. Ever. I was there and was absolutely dumbfounded by what they were pulling off. Best YEM ever. If they played this now, people would be shitting their pants and smiing the whole time.
I met Mike Gordon that night he said "hey what's up, what are your guys into tonight?" Super show. First time for Phish at RR one night only. I remember something about Trey talking about Lizards built into the rocks that form the amphitheater and burrowing into the ground for us to enjoy the night. Divided Sky opener cuz it was raining and they almost called off the show if I'm not mistaken.
NO QUESTION TOP 3 yems of all time, and I dont even know the other 2...I just assume they rocked this hard at least a couple more times. But honestly everything about this song is played perfect and Gordon really lets it rip during the B&D section. wow wow wow i would do anything to see a show live in 1992-1996
haha first live yem i ever listened to when i was young. my older brother had good taste and i thank him for helpin me "find a funky thing to get into." phan for life. p.s. how about Cactus droppin bombs 15:20

adjusting for inflation, eh?
Ditto to this, almost 100 live shows, countless webcasts, wasn't at this show but still my favorite YEM by a mile

I love your statement, classic
Ditto

Cool birthday story. The only thing cooler would be if you were conceived during this yem.😀

I don’t know what you’re hearing lol, Mike doesn’t say anything and if he did the band is far too loud to hear it
I was there on shrooms, it was the best phish show I ever saw. Was there in 96 too when they were banned cus hippies crashed the gates. I was one of those hippies. Good times. I'm 51 now haven't seen phish since the great went in Maine.
Holy shit. You took shrooms at a Phish show? You must have been the only one.
Surely the greatest live YEM on record right here. The reason I love Phish is this take
I drove with a car full of friends from Jackson, WY for this show (and somehow, back.) Will never, ever regret it, nor forget it.

This is quite possibly the best thing my ears have ever heard. Queue absolute face melt at 14:00
this very version of this very song changed how I listen to music when I first heard it more than 10 years ago
.

Perfect in every way. Not a note out of place . 12/10 energy , fun engaging riff , blast off. Face melt soul melt . Boo boom bada ba boom boom pa!

One of my favorite bootlegs and YEM of all times. The years at RR were pure bliss with phish at the top of their game...

An absolutely exquisite version, and for me, the definitive one.
I had to make sure my video play speed wasn’t on like 1.25 or 1.5…damn that intro is fast
Phish at red rocks was so fantastic. Miss it
Whoa, does anyone else hear 13:16-13:50 treys guitar sounds like the early remnants of the denver ghost jam 97?
15:19 will always live in my memory as one of the coolest fucking moments in my entire life. Holy shit.
Holy cow, I was at this show and it was amaaaaaazing! Can't believe I stumbled on this.
Holy fuck this was a crazy ride
easily my favorite jam. well this and 11/17 tweezer
Best show ever. Thanks for uploading! I could never find it throughout the years and my cruddy cassette was practically destroyed. Noobs better recognize this gem xD
@15:34 fish says what we're all thinking: "YEEUH!"
Pure magic. Some of the best years showcasing their amazing talent.
I have the whole show on CD if anyone wants it. Quite possibly the best live concert ever.
can you send it to me somehow?
You can get the whole show multiple places online.
@@_____8488 ya, things have changed since he posted that 7 years ago lol
This is the highlight of one of the greatest shows ever. Wish there was a video of this show. I was there and swear some dude was recording. Where are you, my man?
I was there trippin fuckin balls having the time of my life lol hell yeah!!!
God damn, Trey’s first note of his solo in the jam is maybe the best planted single note ever!!! Not taking away from the rest of the jam cuz it is jaw droppingly amazing, starting of with the perfect note didn’t hurt
That whole first lick he does
Dare I say but this might be numero uno of all time

Close, that's not this show. You're talking about the 8.20.93 Red Rocks show.
You're exactly right!
+Jason L yeah that 93 Reba..................
The mighty 1994 Phish. Kids these days don't even know.
They played with some kind of energy then. Still great today, just different.
+hawleywe that energy was drugs
Weed, beer, and mayyyyybe, some pills. 1998 is when it took the turn.
Oh, psychedelics were fine.
i was thinking it was the youth, but hey I'm game!
My 2nd year seeing them at redrocks. Cant believe its been ao long.
The whole show.........Greatest.
I was at that show!!! I wish they'd release an HDCD disc set of this show and the one on the previous night...
siting here 16 years later this YEM is and was the SHIT!!!!
Respect to page McConnell. Dude completely nails this, phenomenal
remember like it was yesterday. Ty J.B.

Give 12/9/95 a spin
The Albany 12/9/95 yem is pretty astounding also.
They just don’t even come close to playing YEM like this anymore! Damn. That jam is so good
Never did though, this is one of a kind.
Dick's 2024: hold my 🍺.
even the vocal jam is kicking ass
Fishman's snare.
So Yemmy!
from my favorite show
haha first live yem i ever listened to when i was young. my older brother had good taste and i thank him for helpin me "find a funky thing to get into." phan for life.
p.s. how about Cactus droppin bombs 15:20
Happy 25th birthday to my lil rager yemmie boi
Best version of YEM... never forget the first time I stumbled on this- was tripping on 3.5 gs of cubensis and put this on headphones
awesome!!!
Aliens paying attention
Wish Mike got this loud and involved still.
15:21 WUUUUUTTT
If you’re trying to show someone this song, play them this version
This is great! 11/28/97 Worcester is my favorite though.
fuck yes
holly shit!!
Mike thumps this a good one.
Indeed a nice YEM indeed!
YES
Cactus!!! 🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵
HEY I WAS AT THIS
I used to have a tape... it had them telling the story of poster nutbag @redrocks i cannot find this track anywhere... poster nutbag / harpua.. help?
+Stoic Ninja 8/20/93 !!! One of my favorite shows. Ice>Wedge is awesome because it's the old intro to wedge with page doing the riff instead of trey.
+Lauren Hanson this is so strange. Just yesterday I found the recording from 93.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Best YEM
*BOY MAN*
Can I download this somewhere? Link would be fantastic
🌿✨
11:00
I've fast forwarded this to 11:00 a thousand times in my life. My favorite 5 minutes of guitar.
wow
You turkey…HTF DO YOU SPLIT YEM>RIFT
Man Is This A Primo Version
who thumbs down this?
floor tom
boned up
My favorite yem is STILL on a live one
If only Troy could still play guitar like this...
And changed his name to Troy ;-)
living in the past, that's one (shitty) way to go through life
I didn’t like the structured part of this YEM, but the jam is something else.
To be honest I listen to this version SO often that I usually just skip to 7:06 to get to the goods
ew
