Yes! This comment EXACTLY! The music from the Sonic games were always so memorable and I would always find myself humming the music from the first two levels all throughout my life lol.
This game was not easy to play. It made no sense, and each stage was too big, had many Chaos Emeralds to find and getting to each Boss was a nightmare.
Happy 30th Anniversary to the classic Sonic game from the 90s. Also to Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and the Satam series, too. Great vid play-through.
Right now im doing a sonic marathon. Watching gameplays of sonic games I've never played or heard of before since i was born on Christmas of 1995. This is a game i definitely wouldn't have played as i have no patience so I'll just enjoy watching you play.
Can talk about the ending for a moment? They just dropped him SCREAMING into his own burning and collapsing tower! This game got DARK for a Sonic spin-off.
There's bonus levels too. Collect every ring on a stage and then sparkly portals appear. Enter the portal to start a multiball bonus stage. (Kinda like the bonus stages after each level, but it's a multiball boss fight)
I dont know how in the hell I managed to beat this when I was 13 years old, I think maybe you had unlimited lives or something? I just remember putting in a 12 hour marathon session and getting it done.
I used to LOVE playing this game when I was a kid. I would spend hours learning all the different light up bonuses and tricks on every level to figure out the best strategy. So much fun.
Wow I completely forgot about this game. Now that I'm seeing it again I remember everything about it, even the environment I played it in. Haven't played this since around 95, I was like 5 back when I played it when it came out lol. Love how these games I used to play bring me so many good memories too. I thank my brothers for introducing me to videogames, because of them I became proud gamer. So glad I grew up in this era of videogames 90's - early 2000's, the best era if you ask me.
I don't think I've ever related to Sonic quite like this. Basically how it feels to work a job (getting bounced left, right, up, down, and diagonally constantly), and Sonic's expressions when he slides out of control really sell it. Except there isn't as much HR Geiger style horrors (there's more). Also the scariest Robotnik has ever been.
My dad was obsessed with this game because he loves pinball games. I could never beat it when I was young at the time. I always loved the music in Sonic games, but the soundtrack in Spinball always stuck with me. Maybe I should bust out the old Genesis and finally beat it lol.
8:07 in the bonus stage, they have references to Bonnie, Sally, and Boomer/Rotor. And since this is an official SEGA game, that means the freedom fighters are canon!
@@GoodfellaZeta4873 yeah, I know. Though I wish it was. I heard they're actually fighting to bring back the Freedom Fighters into the IDWverse. Iunno how that'll work, but I hope it does somehow.

Yeah I definitely don't have the money to mod my consoles and set up all the RGB stuff to capture clean footage. I don't think I claimed I was using a real genesis. The closest I can get on my budget is the Mega Retron HD, which does look good, but you'd notice graphic and audio inconsistencies and people who dislike emulation won't like that either soooo yeah still using emulation for now. Maybe someday! On aspect ratio, that's always a little tricky. Some developers made their games knowing they would be stretch to 4:3 on tvs and end up looking squished at the natural 10:7. This is an example of that. The rings, balled up Sonic and other circular objects look more or less round when stretched so I decided to stretch it for this one.

Sonic Spinball. I really liked this game, but I remember not getting very far just for being so difficult for me. I remember the music was really good though!

For a 224p game to be perfectly scaled to 1080p without interpolation this had to be emulated. Also Genesis games use a 10:7 aspect ratio not 4:3.
