    10 hrs ago I did my garage. Used rust oleum. I power washed first, paint stained etc. then I used acid, I used a hard bristled brush to work in the acid. Worked great.. then I rinsed. Floor is still perfect..

    Curious how to handle the cabinets in some of the places. The first where you did you bid you didnt mention if you paint around or remove or have the customer remove them. The second, do you do anything to keep the acid and the water from flowing into the cabinets on the right side and destroying them? Most builder grade cabinetry around here is coated mdf and isnt always installed to the spec so the bottom lip could be exposed particle board, wouldnt that wick up the acid + water and cause some warping? Or is this where you have the caulking come into play and lay a bead around that stuff first?

    I do epoxy flooring for a living. You need to grind the floor then clean with DA. acid washing is the DIY way, diamond Grinding and you have 20+ yrs. also you use 100% resin so nothing evaporates and you keep the mil you put it on at. Also top coat in polyaspartic because epoxy isn’t uv stable. But most important is diamond grinding.

      @miked6097 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nicholasummel7867 ya I guess that’s what he says gotta believe it. I’m just going by the books. My old man has been doing it 38 years just epoxy flooring not paint with some epoxy, retiring this year. Just putting it out there. I redo acid etched floors with water based “resin” all the time here in New England. Sometimes they don’t call back the same guy, they call someone else to fix it redo it whatever… stay safe

    • @miked6097
      @miked6097 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He’s a painter for 22 years he hasn’t been strictly dropping floors everyday for that long. He’s done a handful during his painting career Do enough of them wrong he will get a call back. Maybe a commercial kitchen auto shop will not hold up. Made this video because it’s becoming popular. Lol. He don’t moisture test, hardness test just nothing with code here.

    • @miked6097
      @miked6097 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t you notice he has one or two videos about epoxy amongst years of painting videos and your thinking he does these all the time for 22 years…. Cmon he’s a great painter and has great ideas but this is not how to pour resin flooring. Not when your giving a 10 year warranty.

    Many concrete garage or basement floors are not suited to this epoxy coating. You will discover that although the slab does not show moisture coming through it when you test it, it may very well have significant moisture at another season of the year. I no longer do epoxy floors for this reason.

    hi and thank you for all the info! I'm a potter moving into a studio space that is new concrete. I want a floor that is easy to mop up clay dust. I won't be moving heavy equipment around other than a few rolling carts/shelves, and shouldn't be leaking crazy chemicals into the floor (other than ceramic glaze occasionally that can be wiped/mopped up). Looking for any recommendations. Epoxy? full 2 coats? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

    I have a customer that wants to switch from pro industrial paint to epoxy on their garage floor. I have one worry, there is a drain in the middle with a pretty severe dip around it. The customer wants to do it anyway and wants the dip to stay for drainage. Have you ever run into this problem? Is this even do able? I have been searching for a tutorial about this but all of them are on completely flat floors with no drains. Any help will be much appreciated. Ill buy a few Paint Life shirts if you can get back to me.

      But there is so much more money in it. I had a painting company and recently turned it to epoxy flooring. Epoxy Express. Profit margins are huge compared to painting. And to buy all that equipment protects its from everyone just doing it. The equipment is close to 15k total. The trade is growing like 30% per year. Stay safe bud! I do countertops and floors garage, kitchen anything it goes over everything except plastic.
