Question how did you get into scrapping and how did you get sister involved?

Hi Wayne. It simply started with me collecting aluminium and steel cans. Then I started collecting and dismantling e-waste, that was over 12 years ago haven't looked back since. I asked Jane to help one day as I was quite snowed under and she has been helping ever since that day...

Hi Wayne, Jane here. In the last video you asked what the significance of my tattoo is? It simply means, half devil/half angel, the representation of good and evil.

That is an item that I have always wanted to scrap out, but because of it's size has not happened. There is lots of plastic but there is a lot of good scrap also. I would think that those USB metal covers, if you file them and they are brassy and barely magnetic that they are not steel but likely nickel plated. Nickel is slightly magnetic and even more so when it is worked and tooled. If they are not brassy and barely magnetic they could be stainless. I would upgrade them unless they are very magnetic. Hope your op is minor and we see you soon in good health. All the best. 👍

Hi A Fineliner. I run into this issue frequently, as you mentioned its either slightly magnetic or not magnetic all and then there's differentiating between brass, copper and stainless steel, which I try to do. For me it comes down to what the scrapyard says, as they are quite pedantic with what they will and won't except. Thank you for your well wish! 👍😃

It Was only 2gb. I was hoping for at least 4gb. I did get an 8gb out of a laptop the other day though.

I knew that something like 1 .2 GB of RAM is good 🙂 in the laptop there are 2x4 of RAM, which is 8 🙂 in total

Hi Mike and Jane, I also do micro scrapping like you do. There are two well known minerals that are ferromagnetic : iron and nickel. So, if you file a little contact box (28:50) and it is yellow and slightly magnetic, it is nickel coated brass. If slightly magnetic and white when filed, with a shrill noise, it can be stainless steel.
Although it would take a lifetime to get a pound, the tiny screews of the hard disks are almost always stainless steel.

@maxcloutier5285. Thank you for that information and thank you for watching. Maybe certain types of stainless is ferro-magnetic too? When I wave a neodymium over the screw they rock to and fro as if they are either magnetic or becoming magnetised. Have you experienced this at all with the HDD screws?

@@MicroScraprMike Sure, a percentage of stainless steel is ferro-magnetic. Stainless steel is very complex, I suggest an internet search to know more. My neodymium magnets are in a separate container so I dont know if they do experiments when not attended, lol.
