Great podcast episode, glad that you invited Telo Trucks to the show, really hope they made it to market and their trucks would be perfect for us here in Europe with narrow roads and short driving distances. Also, the looks of their pick-up is just awesome :) Keep it up, guys :)
Looks like you guys have moved that signature "dent" from the rear door closer to the front wheel. The truck looks different now. Personally, I liked the previous design better, but I know it's a matter of preferences. Are you planning to modify the door handles, too?
Thanks for the efforts to get this lined up and posted! I'm definitely interested and had no idea they existed. Having a compact Toyota pickup (prior to the Tacoma), I keep hoping in the reasonable future timeframe for an electric sized version. I've added them to my shortlist of potentials. 👍👍
I am a motorcyclist, but there isn't a single electric bike I would buy unless they were practically giving them away. This guy rightly points out you say 150 miles and people don't think that is very far. When you are on a bike you typically are stopping sooner than that, BUT with the lack of infrastructure density there is no way I want to be out on an EB when chargers can be quite a long distance apart if you venture away from population centers. When I go riding I am not rolling around in metro areas "for fun". Current EBs are commuter and local only and way over priced for that role. Yes, I know there are people out there trying to road trip these things, but that is far from my idea of fun. Magna, Rousch, Foxconn I know have setup for this sort of thing to contract manufacture. I think if you look at the Ford Maverick success it should be obvious that small little trucks at affordable prices will sell. There is a market, but the time frame to get a product in market appears to be short. Everyone is now about to launch a Maverick competitor. How many will be BEV? Haven't heard anyone say they are launching a small BEV. If they can make the production date of early 2026 then they manage that. If they don't make that date the time will have passed. Ford is launching T3 and they are already talking about midsize and small trucks for the new platform.
The battery part was interesting, reminds me of the SQL V NON-SQL Database debates in the IT world. We're there are people in both camps that say the other is trash and their DB camp is superior in everyway and they will never use the other type. When in reality both have pros and cons and depending on your use case pick the type that meets your core objectives. As all the cylindrical cell battery packs I am aware of kyle has described there charging performance as a** so that clearly looks to be a fundamental issues with cooling them. So all the pros outlined in this interview but charging still seem to be a real world issue. We're as Tycon has great charging preformce and uses pouch batteries so real world demonstration that they can be made into great battery packs. Seems cylindrical cell battery packs are the camp the new US car firms are all sticking to no matter what, which I find interesting.
i really like the telo truck concept, even though i'm not a SF city dweller. make it easy to repair, customize, and make it tough and long lasting.. even out in the country, i would love to have a utility-first vehicle with this profile. but here is a thought: maybe if you are so worried about someone messing with your stuff while you are parked to get coffee in SF, you should consider voting differently, rather than designing a truck around a crime problem.
This is exactly the truck I’ve been waiting for. I reserved mine, not I just hope they can actually deliver. I’m rooting for low-tech software that can function long after they go bankrupt 😂
I’d live to trade in my Dodge Ram for a useful, small pickup. The Ram has been useful ancc so reliable, but the 16 mph makes it prohibitive to drive. The best pickup I ever owned was the pre-Tacoma Toyota I owned out of college. It had decent mileage, was the equivalent of a $25,000 cost nowadays, and was reliable. We need an affordable, small, EV truck!!!!!’
It's the size of truck 95% of people actually need. I'd go with the long range RWD. It builds out to $45,500. If it qualifies for the tax credit (Who knows if that will still be a thing) it would be $38,000. I would say that price is decent but not great. We'll see how this goes. I'd consider leasing one.
Where is the video of the prototype actually driving around? Seems like they should have a driveable one if they truly want to bring this to market early 2026. I won't hold my breath nor give them $152 for a reservation.
While the odds are stacked against Telo, I really hope they succeed. This is a true cab forward design that actually moves seating forward to maximize passenger/cargo volume in a small footprint. New EVs like the id.Buzz look like cab forward designs, but they are kind of fake. The seats are well back from the front, so it while it looks cab forward from the outside, it really isn't on the inside. I love this design but I'd want the van version they showed. Not everyone wants a pickup.
Can't wait to see these on the road.
Can’t wait to have $50K so I can buy one 😂
Great interview and a refreshingly honest guest. 👍

Just hope that this doesn’t turn into another Fisker - great product rushed to market too soon and not fully developed

Dude the longer you look into Telo, the more genius and sensical they seem. This really could be a disruptive EV/company!
Any plans to include route planning, battery preconditioning, and/or ADAS? I'd love to see adaptive cruise control become a part of this at a minimum.
Looks like Canoo
Hopefully they make it.
Thinking the same😀
Will it be available with a bed cap?
How many 240V and 120V outlets does it have, if any? How will it support V2X (G,H,L)?

I will buy one.
Arizona has no restrictions on people riding in the pickup bed. Might as well put a 3rd and 4th row back there!

Give one to Tom to do some stress testing for you
Love my Zero Motorcycle 🤪
The Telo truck looks like something the facilities crew would drive around Sun City West.
Hey Dom…round cells😊
If you look at the reflection on the side of cybertruck it's wavy. There's a reason no vehicle has flat panels.
I'm the only genius that noticed this.
I think US vehicles will need to have a full front bumper.

Can ya package a Batt/Motor Combo (plug & play) that looks like a V-Twin engine and bolts into a Shadow,Vulcan or other mid size metric cruiser?
New construction now conforming to the "european" garage of 19' can't fit most trucks of today (nor larger SUVs) can't wait for my Telo
100%. Even the unibody ford maverick is over 200 inches long! That’s longer than some 3-row crossovers!!!

What climate are you in? Do you need AWD or winter tires at all?
@@password953 I live in Wisconsin. My current car is a RWD Polestar 2. I use dedicated winter tires. It handles very well.
@ niceeeee. Yeah sounds like RWD would be the value Telo for you! Probably same or better range than your polestar?
@@password953 It should be by a little bit if they hit their mark.
I might buy a used one in 2030.

Wish someone had asked so what happened at Mission Motors that you left ? Plus did anyone get their 5k deposits back?
That would be a whole other episode!

Agreed man you said it perfectly
Battery prices are currently dropping so fast I hope the EV prices follow.
I want one, sign me up , take my 💰
There’s a reservation list and the configurator is live!!
Hope they beat Ford on this.
Ok so now I have a deposit on a TELO, Aptera, and Scout. Who wants to place bets which one is released first?
When something sounds too good to be true it probably is. Ain’t no way they are hitting those specs at the 50k price point…
how many more years before production starts? Sorry this just seems like a joke.
Crew cab, 100kwh, dual motor?....It's already $70+ grand....What's the FN point? Build a little beater pickup. That's what we need!
The dual motor, with the 106-kWh pack, comes out to $49,999 on the configurator.
@@BatteriesIncludedPodcast Thanks, but that's what they tell you two years from production. Enjoyed the show though!
@@ThisMFr Thanks for watching!
math aint mathing. 106kwh for
