Oh what a lovely specimen and I think you did very well dissecting the best out of it. But I wonder how it may have turned out carved? I'd be interested in a twisty one like that! Lovely material and love what you do mate. To me the twists are what I'm after and inclusions encourage details. But it could all go to pieces at any time. I dropped a 10ct black opal carving today a finished one! Now it will be two and "that's opal" expect the unexpected . Cheers mate.
I maybe should have carved it but we find them very slow to cut and even slower to move! I used to do quite a bit but our focus is getting back underground after that ‘patch’ 😊
Haha yes if I had a mine to go back into with opal like that! I think my priority would be the same so well understood. I'm a solid plasterer by trade and push cement up walls all day. Opal carving is how I relax and I've time at night and that's lucky. I love art side of opal and nice to see colour after white rendered walls all day. Cheers mate if you've any like it again slip it under the bench for me to buy in the new year. Good luck stay safe . Travis.
@@acidrainopal Thanks mate. It can be very therapeutic and I’m grateful to be able to do the hobby I started 35 years ago for a job! I hope you can get into opal as much as you’d like to! All the best. 👍🏼🙏
