    Wow this video is great, it answer my question as to how to resolve sleeping inside the van without turning on the engine for the air conditioning, as it is very dangerous will be inhaling the carbon monoxide without knowing it. Thanks...

    That roof looks thinner than an inch.
    Didn't you use anything to make it thicker so that the screws fit properly?

    Hey is the handle bendable? I would like to purchase this vent but that handle dangling in middle of my low roof van is a deal breaker..

    Why didn't you go with the full-size Maxxair roof vent fan?

    Did you paint your roof black because you like it hot inside the van?

    Hi bro.. Mind sharing link on where to purchase this maxxfan dome?

      Hello! Unfortunately the online shop where I got mine (UK) no longer sells them. I think there is a supply-shortage too. ☹️

    Nice! Only one fan? Dont need two?

    • @Hong.Wanderlust
      @Hong.Wanderlust  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it is definitely better to have two, one for (intake) and one for (exhaust). Helps create circulation flow. 😊

    how this would perform in rain? it seems that it could leak directly, no?

    • @Hong.Wanderlust

      Didn't have any issues on my over-night stays BUT I think it might be prudent to close it if the rain/winds get too strong.

    Would you say the fan does a good job at exhausting the heat? I will be using it in a slightly smaller space but curious if it helps keep the interior to a moderate temp, thx

    • @Hong.Wanderlust
      @Hong.Wanderlust  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jacob.
      To be honest, I won't consider a single-fan to be very effective in cooling down the interior. Yes, it helps, but no it won't feel like there's any noticeable breeze.
      I have read about how some people install two-fans, with one pulling in air and one exhausting out air. This method seems logical in creating a draft, and might be a good solution.
      For me, leaving both windows slightly lowered/opened for fresh air helps. The only issue with this will be the risk of mosquitos/bugs. I also have a few additional fans inside the cabin (small portable USB powered fans) to help with the circulation.
      In a nutshell, I'll say on its own (yes it helps, better than not having it) but also (don't expect any noticeable breeze).
      Hope this helps. 😀

    Can you say something about the noise, please?

    • @Hong.Wanderlust
      @Hong.Wanderlust  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ahh! Something I missed out in the video. To be frank, it is quite audible, especially if camping in a very quiet area. Slightly louder than a regular a/c unit at home. Having said that, it is still bearable, and a well worth compromise for ventilation. 🙂🙂

    Do these fans have a forward and reverse

    • @Hong.Wanderlust
      @Hong.Wanderlust  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, this particular one only does one-way (exhaust - out).

    • @krookeddubtheory
      @krookeddubtheory ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally if you swap the positive and negative you can make it go in reverse.. you can wire it up to a rocker switch for forward and reverse

    Should have silaconed the vent after the black paint. Paint will not adhere to silacone as you will find in time as your paint will peal;.

    Hi, really like the video, so how do you feel about this fan? I got the same van and i also thinking about adding this fan. Still thinking hesitated about Maxxfan dome or Maxxfan deluxe (too big for our roof). Hope you can help me for make a decision. Thanks from canada

    • @Hong.Wanderlust

      Hello Tomle!
      I haven't had the chance to do much van-camping in the van yet, but in my personal opinion, the MAXXFAN Dome seems to be a decent enough ventilation fan for our van. I reckon the MAXXFAN Deluxe to be just a tad too large (and loud?), but it won't be without merits as it'll be sure to offer stronger ventilation.
      I grew up in Vancouver and if I'm gonna assume, I'll say the MAXXFAN Dome will suffice for keeping things cool in the winter months and sufficient for summers.
      😉

    Why the black roof? In California that would only make my van hotter.

    • @Hong.Wanderlust
      @Hong.Wanderlust  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL! Super sharp eyes! 😅 Yeah, you're ABSOLUTELY right, it does indeed soak in the tropical-Singapore sun/heat much quicker than a white roof. During the respray, i was thinking more of aesthetics and outlook, as all my cars (past, present) have black roofs, and didn't think about the van-camping aspect. hahaha!
