Awesome interviews. I grew up in Queens and my neighbor kept pigeons. My summer memories involve the beautiful circling, swirling cloud of pigeons ever present on the block.
I live in London, we see them as flying Rats. But watching these videos gives me more respect for them. Mike Tyson is a life long Pigeon man, and it got me interested. 3:27
The video, the comments....I've found my Pigeon People! I raise orphaned/discarded/injured/hatched-by-mistake ('oops' babies!) infant pigeons. Some are feral and I soft-release them on my Chelsea roof with my fascinating neighborhood flock - I have never seen a flock with so much more plumage variation. I see that Homers, Fancies, Racing, & King pigeons were once part of this feral flock. I can tell early on by their behavior which babies have a lot of non-feral genes. They have no plans on leaving! Then they grow beautiful plumage, some with feathers right down to their feet, cool 'hair-dos', etc. I start the soft release process when they're pre-fledges, but know they won't and often shouldn't join 'my' flock. But they love getting outside, looking around, and lounging in the sun. I would love to meet some of you with lofts and different breeds. I suspect you can teach me a lot. And most pigeon /wild bird rehabbers know very little about pigeon behavior and personalities, they aren't able to experience the depth of feeling, the respect, and humbling privilege of knowing their group of pigeons so well. BUT......they get DAYS OFF!
I love pigeons and I love feeding them. I give them bread and corn. Very few times I would give them cooked rice. A couple of them eat from my hands. I really enjoy feeding those beautiful birds.
Love your video, I have had pigeons all of my life, and I could not agree more, on what these great birds give back to there owners! to me its the greatest sport on earth!!! thanks for posting
Pigeons are the most amazing animal! Mine came into my life unexpectedly on my birthday this year when my son brought me one that had been hurt by older teenagers that thought it was fun coming to our neighbourhood to abuse and torture the birds. =( At that point I knew nothing about them except that he needed my help. The more I learn from them, the more amazed I am with them! I say them because I wound up with another one that came to our backyard with a hard ball of crap stuck to his foot (i thought could be a growth), but my husband and I soaked her foot and it came right off. Sadly her foot had been broken by the weight of the hardened crap so we've decided to keep her. I don't want to let either of them go now because I'm afraid someone will hurt them, a bear or cougar, eagles, hawks, cars, etc. And the first bird (Perly the Pretty Pigeon), looks like a whole new bird! He is doing really well! Confidant, sweet as could be, funny, and knows he's pretty special! I just love my new birds! The 2nd bird is much quieter, so sweet, and just as loving and smart and Perly! We call her baby bird or Elvin! I never knew how smart they really where until I did my research! I could just tell they could understand a lot! And when I found all this info, just confirmed what I'd observed, they're awesome little creatures! Very precious! I'm just so excited to have them in my life! Their a special part of our family now! 💙💦🐦☀🐦💦💙 p.s. I've noticed Perly and Elvin sound different! Perly coos sound kinda like a purr, or the sounds you hear most pigeons make! Baby bird tweets sound most like a squeek! Do males and females sound different? Maybe that's why? They both have the racing stripes but look a tad bit different in the face! Baby is a bit smaller too!
This is great,, i also have pigeons here in Kenya and i love them and am passionate ,, i keep watch all the time up to see if i can see pigeons in the air,, you may watch mine and advice

"This is the life!" I can understand that!
Not into pigeons, but I like to see people into them talk about 'em: they always have some kinda zen-like atmosphere around them when they do.
I live in London, we see them as flying Rats. But watching these videos gives me more respect for them.
