I miss these sea of thieves days, it was so fun playing this campaign and being friends with everyone sailing around dying to fight it :(

Overhyped flop and this 'trailer' shows all the problems with sea of thieves because there is no actual gameplay presumably because it would be underwhelming/disappointing if they did show it us

Coming back to this trailer and seeing Merrick being developed so much since then, getting the hunters call, getting his ship back(briefly), killing the shrouded ghost, saving golden sands(some people may not like that), and as of this comment, being trapped in the sea of the damned by the dark brethren. I hope he never fully leaves us

It would have been better if there was some sort of character customization at the beginning of the game, with tattoos, scars, etc., from the start of the game rather than some stupid store..
the lack of a character creator was because they wanted everyone to look unqiue and fit with the games art style, instead of crosswired kohlii heads making the ugliest pirates possible

To the people who already judge the new content before it drops...wtf. clearly you've never heard of don't judge a book by its cover...developers work hard long hours to bring us content time away from their family's and life for us. And to be ungrateful for the hard work they put in...ridiculous keep in mind that's it's also free...and don't the game has no micro transactions hard to come by nowadays. This is probably the best game I've played in a long time. So if you don't like the trailer or the game what arrr you doing here lol go somewhere else and be negative. Keep up the good work developers those of us die hard fans are with you. Can't wait!

It's not 'free', they've been paid full price for a game with no content. They pretty much owe us.

Why play it? $60 for this game it needs content yes...my comment wasn't about the lack of content it's about people putting down content that hasn't even dropped. Like I said before that's like judging a book by its cover...you can't judge the new content by a teaser trailer...I think we all knew they weren't gonna show gameplay...why give it away it's like the game itself you sail to island to discover loot and lore....you don't know what loot you will find or things you will learn until you do it. This is what the trailer models hints at what the hungering deep will have but nothing for certain. I don't want to know what the new content will be before I play it ruins the surprise and the fun of discovering it. You and those who want a gameplay trailer must hate surprises lol anyway just give the developers some credit they have a deadline to meet set by the studios. If they have to scrap content it's not always their fault. They are bringing more in its just going to take patience from us..I think in a few months most people won't have a complaint except for the haters...

Brandon Paul while I agree with not judging the content before you play it, the stuff about the developers taking time away from their families is a little over the top. It's their job. You make it sound like they are doing some great humanitarian services. They are well compensated for those hours of work.

Edit - NPCs don’t say what their dialog says, they only say something when you start to talk to them. But technically they do talk, only in that short time frame.

This was an epic trailer, an epic DLC, and epic gameplay. The fact that other players would team up just to fight this was awesome. I hope they add something like this again.
Rare you probably wont see this but I really think this way of making teasers outshines the newer content updates only really made interesting by the gameplay itself, Also i feel like an event with myth and anticipation such as this one would re ignite the piratical ways in og players.

Let me share a moment from the time this came out if you are interested!
If not well, simply you don't have to read it xd
Back then a cooperation between crews was something unheard of, it was simply useless and there was no point in doing such a thing UNLESS you were a really good lad.
At that time, most of the players weren't even close to be a Pirate Legend so everyone wanted all the loot for themselves.
Even with this update there were no Alliance flags availible at the time, they came out couple months later if I remember correctly.
Then this came out and for the FIRST TIME EVER I was able to sail with other ships alongside me all friendly, having a good banter along the way, helping each other out with commendations/achievements.
At that time I've got my achievement of shooting myself onto another crew's deck from my boat and now I wanna paint you a picture okay?
Imagine you've NEVER had a friendly interaction in this game.
And now you are sailing your sloop, right behind you is another sloop and next to that sloop is another. All of us lead by a big Galleon and all of us sailing close enough so we could play shanties and in some cases jump onto other boats.
You travel from Shark Bait Cove where Merrick was stationed at the time alllll the way under Devil's Ridge.
We had no idea what is in front of us, we just knew we had to play our instruments all at the same time... so we've arrived, made a circle from our ships and all went onto the Galleon.
Started playing and sure enough a low growl starts to fill your headphones and before you realise it ... a HUGE shark jumps out of the water letting out the scariest growl you've heard in this game to this point.
Everyone paniced and jumped onto their boats.
Explosions never stopped as every ship unloaded tens of cannonballs into the beast, but when the Hungering one was released, he was REEEALLY tanky.
I used all of my 80 cannonballs I had, the other sloops had around 200 cannonballs and used them all as well, the Galleon was dishing out houndreds of them and that monster was still alive! (I must admit, we all missed a good portion of our cannonballs xd)
We had to use sniper rifles to finish him off ... after good 15-20 minutes of fighting it, we've made it!
Everyone out of supplies, a cheering voice chat shouting HOORAY and YES WE DID IT!
Filled your ears, everyone patched up theirs and others ships and we've made our way back to Shark Bait Cove.
On the way there I asked if we could take a screenshot when we'll arrive and everyone agreed.
As we were getting closer, someone started playing "Becalmed" on his hurdy gurdy, then another one joined and we were all slowly sailing as the sun was setting down, all playing Becalmed and THAT ... is the best memory I have from this game.
I've never been in love with a game like this ... ever.
We've all arrived, got ourselves a reward and all went onto the Galleon and made a screenshot of everyone involved

Fantastic! This is what we wanted in-game from Sea Of Thieves at the beginning. In-game voice-acted characters, engaging pirate tales, and one-one emotional connection to the player. Are we seeing the beginning of real adventure content and the game realizing its actual potential? Hope so, great job...
What? This teaser trailer is not saying all of that is coming. This update will add a megalodon and then a bunch of stuff they will have to remove and work on for another month before it’s fixed.
Coop Shanks Here's the thing about that. Firstly, at least there is a large grouping of new content (whatever it may be.) Secondly, it's free. People would be much more annoyed if this cost money. Thirdly, sea of thieves, while it does have momentary ( yet in large ammounts) of updates and down time, it's not the only game in the world that has updates. Don't rag on it that much.

I think the server problems with the last build might have something to do with pushing it to the end of the month. If they don't figure out the current problems it may get pushed back further.

CAPILL. its somewhere north of plunder outpost. it has a shipwreck around the east of it with this beachy area that comes of the main island. it forms a bay th the left of it and on the side of the mountain on the left is where the cave paintings are

hinting at needing two galleons with at least three people on each, both crews playing music, with all three instruments (new drums included) to either summon or pacify the beast
in the background are three gun powder barrels lashed together with rope, possible new way to use them as high powered sea mines to dump out the back on pursuing foes?
a slight call out to parrots, one of the rumored pet types
also if you notice, the old man has a shark bite scar on the right side of his chest

I'm digging this. And all this "no content" foolishness... I'm glad it's the way it is. I play this for a long awesome relaxing time. Of course, there are moments where everyone has to rush for whatever reason, but I so enjoy hopping on and sailing virtual seas with people from across the world. Before this released, I only ever played Halo games and Titanfall 2. It's nice to have a change of pace. Also, I do not find fortnite or PUBG fun at all. There you go. Have at it. I'm looking forward to whatever comes along in Sea of Thieves.

I love this game we went on an epic adventure and teamed up with another crew, we all did this entire quest for the first time we went with two ships and returned as one giant crew on one. Keep adding more adventures for us to go on.
I found a picture of this pirate on the Killer Whale ship on one of the unmarked islands. I wonder what that might mean.

No but showing something is better that what they are doing currently, showing nothing causes people to speculate and often over hype and then complain, if they shown something even a tiny bit of gameplay that would likely not happen.

cuz they still havnt fixed half the problems completly from release. i still get a rare skelly voyage where the skellys dont spawn, and last night i did 2 treasure hunters lvl 45 still got castaway chests and no captains chests out of 14 chests. they need more content and to fix all this before asking $60 for a rushed beta,

In all fairness the hungering deep team was given like a month to complete it, and they only said early May once, they have since corrected it to just sometime in May

If you knew anything about the development of any open world game like this, you would know that more content almost always means more bugs. Heck, sometimes bug fixes means more bugs. It's important to get the game as stable as possible before any big release.
the Hungering Deep, oh man the hype was unreal when that trailer dropped! We never did get that tale about the ol' eye stealin parrot! lol
hungering deep is my favorite expansion from Rare for sure! I love tellin my story.
I still rock Shark Slayer, the tattoo/scar combo, the drums/speaking trumpet and of course the oh so good megalodon mast!
oh whatta real adventure that hunt was, we were fighting the giant for what felt like hours, there we floated; a galleon with no planks. we had patched up holes on every wall, but the giant kept on biting! no food left, just a few cannonballs in my pocket. then the shark went under, and may as well have swallowed our friendly sloop whole!
they were the other sloop that started this with us, didnt do much of anything but sail in a circle, sadly after a few unlucky consecutive bites it sank!
Now, it was just us and the meg. As it circled round us again with a handful of shots left, I let loose and fired nonstop till the very last shot, and as luck would have it, that giant hungering one finally roared upwards and was out for good!
I couldnt believe it! but as much as I started celebrating, I heard what and found of why it was just me yelling happily lol, the galleon groaned, wood creaking and all I heard now were buckets!
With the amount of holes in our middle and lower deck we were only a few moments away from sinking for good! I still remember climbing up the crow's nest in a panic. Searchin round, I realized to the NE there was a chance, so we slowly limped against the wind to Devil's Ridge, while frantically bucketing the whole way!
my crew cheered when I came back with planks. we all raised a grog and struck a happy tune as we sailed towards sharkbait cove, finally in the clear.
Not only did we take out the beast, we did it practically alone! it took everything we had, but we did it, what a wonderful feeling that was.
one of my favorite moments in gaming! honestly, wont ever forget it. Hungering Deep will always hold a special place in my pirating adventures!

This had me more concerned than hyped... it showed basically nothing about what is coming. How am I supposed to get my friends back into the game if I cannot show them any new features at all? "Hey guys, you should come back and checkout the new update! It might have a shark or something!"

i wish that they kept the meg a summonable quest, or made hunters call have some voyages to go kill a beast somehwere. and youd get to keep the treasure and return a piece of the beast to show you killed it
