I’ve been playing ukulele for almost a year and I have had a hard time trying to get chords to sound right even if I tuned my uke. You are the first person to really help me and I learned this really fast! Love the finger picking its my favorite ♥️

Yes! We have to include cheats! I'm all about finding creative ways around a chord :) of course, I want you to learn the chord eventually, but I don't want barre chords to hold people back from playing altogether. Nice seeing you here, Sean :)
Hi Bernadette, oooh I love this song so much and once tried it on the guitar but didn't succeed because of several reasons. This time I will manage though I found the chord changes to be a little bit complicated... nevertheless I don't know whether you want some more feedback than the above. First: Your singing has really improved a lot. You seem to be a very ambitious person. 😀 Second: Thank you very much for having fingerpicking in your songs. Third: I don't have the patience to watch the complete video first and then do all the exercises you show. So what I do is... I grab my uke and directly follow along your lesson. And here you interrupt so often.. e.g. it would be helpful to say: we play this part once/twice or whatever - then do so and tell everything you want to after this exercise. Forth: What would be more helpful than having the text on the bottom, the chord diagram on the right would be having the chords name mentioned above or under the text so that I know where I do have to change the chord. (The chord diagrams could be displayed somewhere on the screen the whole time if you want so...) The way I try to play with you is - watching you (the picking/strumming), reading the text and looking for the chord I have to play. Instead of viewing ONE chord at a time I like to see which chord comes next to "get prepared for the change"... 😎😂 As always... thank you very much!!!

Thank you for this!!! It would be super helpful if when playing the chords in order for the first time you put the picture of the chord a beat or two before the transition. As in, when playing the A chord at 3:05, can you put the photo of the E chord up before finishing the 4 beats of the A chord so I can practice switching to the new chord cause I don't have the finger placements memorized. Hope that makes sense!
Great tutorial. I started learning to play ukulele little bit over a month ago. Some chords are still a bit hard for me to grip but I can already play along with finger style just skipping top string which is not used in that finger picking combination :) I always loved this song, it sounds beautifully on ukulele and I'm over the moon that I can play it! Aww, Luisa! I think you're the first person to ask :) I wanted a clean, open, minimalist look. I think I'm experimenting with what looks good and I'm trying to see if I like this better. I think I'll know after I have a few videos and can compare. What do you think? Do you like the cozier space from before or this minimalist space?
Bernadette Teaches Music I think both are very different and perhaps choosing the background based on the type of video might be key? I can see the minimalist background be beneficial for tutorials that require focus and attention, while the cozy living-room with Diana's painting and everything could add to a feeling of familiarity and comfort for announcement or unboxing videos that are not so much about teaching.

I want to make sure that I have a good understanding of the basics and move on in a way that makes sense. I really wish I could see your playing posture. It's really almost impossible to tell without seeing it. I have a tutorial on how to hold the ukulele. Check that out and see if maybe you're holding the ukulele incorrectly. I would hate for you to develop problems from poor posture and positioning

Hi Bernadette (and/or other uke lovers) I'm a fairly new ukulele player (been trying the 30 day challenge too) I love this song but I can't seem to play E consistently well. I either have to squish my fingers and often get bad sounds (I have a soprano ukulele but this might be the first time my fingers have ever been too big for something), or if I play it as a bar chord my finger can't bend in a way that leaves the bottom string open. Do you have any suggestions?

I wanted a clean, open, minimalist look. I think I'm experimenting with what looks good and I'm trying to see if I like this better. I think I'll know after I have a few videos and can compare. What do you think? Do you like the cozier space from before or this minimalist space?
Bernadette Teaches Music I think both are very different and perhaps choosing the background based on the type of video might be key? I can see the minimalist background be beneficial for tutorials that require focus and attention, while the cozy living-room with Diana's painting and everything could add to a feeling of familiarity and comfort for announcement or unboxing videos that are not so much about teaching.

This past week was my last week teaching (I’m an elementary school teacher) and I was completely focused on that.

Thanks so much for your videos - I've progressed really quickly on the ukulele through them and am now addicted to my uke/ 'mini guitar'...aha :) Would you ever do more intermediate-advanced song tutorials as well for the people that progress with you? No worries if thats not the focus of your channel tho.

I have thought about this and if you asked me this question a year ago, I would have said no... a year ago I wanted to build an inventory of beginner songs and videos before adding more difficult tutorials. I think now I feel ready to do it... but I don't know where to start! Do you have any ideas?

I like it when theres a mix of strumming and fingerpicking in one song, and I quite like different styles as well like more Spanish in style. Haha on particular songs me neither sorry.... ask people in your next vid? :)
Cameron Brooks yes, people ask this quite a bit and I wonder why... there are so many channels doing more advanced songs. I guess everyone who asks wants to see this channel’s approach to more difficult songs? I can’t be sure.

I really wish I could see your playing posture. It's really almost impossible to tell without seeing it. I have a tutorial on how to hold the ukulele. Check that out and see if maybe you're holding the ukulele incorrectly. I would hate for you to develop problems from poor posture and positioning

I have a question I just got my ukulele and sometimes when I strum the uke buzz’s and I don’t know why I think it might be because I strum harder when I go faster but I’m not sure. Please help!

Try to find where the buzz is coming from
Is it coming from the ukulele or from you when you hold a certain chord?

I’ve been using my phone to take videos of me playing guitar/uke/piano while singing to upload to instagram to share with my friends, but the audio isn’t the best and i would like to start uploading them here on youtube but would like better quality audio. if you have any tips i’d be grateful for some help! :)

Hi Bernadette (and/or other uke lovers) I'm a fairly new ukulele player (been trying the 30 day challenge too) I love this song but I can't seem to play E consistently well. I either have to squish my fingers and often get bad sounds (I have a soprano ukulele but this might be the first time my fingers have ever been too big for something), or if I play it as a bar chord my finger can't bend in a way that leaves the bottom string open. Do you have any suggestions?
