- We spent 4 days exploring Peru's Amazon rainforest! During our two week trip to Peru, we traveled to the remote Amazon jungle to experience one of the most bio-diverse ecosystems on Earth. It was an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our lodge was located deep within the Tambopata Nature Reserve so we had the best chances of seeing the rainforest's wildlife. We saw capybara, caiman, monkeys, spiders, bullet ants, macaws, a boa, and much more!

Would you visit the Amazon rainforest?? I definitely don't recommend it for anyone who is afraid of bugs, spiders, snakes, etc... 😅🕷If that's the case, you can just watch this video from the comfort of your home. 😉 We gotchu boo
I grew up there! Love watching this. You should go barefoot in the mud and rain. Feel the warm mud squooch up between your toes.
@@samswords9993 I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was truly so beautiful and such an incredible experience, I feel grateful to have visited! Honestly that does sound kind of relaxing. 😂Guess we just have to go back someday so I can try it!
Great Video!! We are staying at the TRC for 5n/4d in August! This makes me even more excited for our stay!
Couple of questions...
1. Did you two get the yellow fever and typhoid vaccinations?
2. Did you feel that your zoom lens had enough reach? I have a 70-200 mm lens with an optional 2x teleconverter
Thank you!! And that's awesome!! I'm super excited for you - it's going to be amazing! 🙌
1. Yup, we got both the yellow fever and typhoid vaccinations before our trip. We also got malaria pills which we took daily starting just before our trip. All of this was available with a travel vaccination appointment from our local CVS or Walgreens (can't remember which but we've used both in the past). It's quick and easy, and you can schedule online ahead of time. Your insurance may cover some - Peter's didn't but mine did so who knows lol but we were obviously willing to pay for peace of mind.
2. Honestly, I had a 70-200mm with no teleconverter and I was definitely wishing for more reach. But with your 2x teleconverter I think that should be perfect! The guide also has an incredible telescope which got way more reach and fine detail and you can take photos through it with your phone, but obviously taking high res photos on your camera is ideal.
I also regret not bringing our travel tripod. As you can see in the video a lot of my footage was shaky and that impacted my images as well, not allowing for crisp shots due to handheld shake. I would take 10 shots hoping 1 might turn out sharp! 🥲 If I redid this trip, I would bring our lightweight tripod that sets up quickly, I wouldn't mind setting up in the mud, that would fit/strap to the outside of our day packs for quick access, with quick release plate so I can take camera on and off in a flash. The guide puts his telescope on a tripod so it would be easy to set up yours and not slow down the group - I was worried about that but it's a slow meander through the jungle looking for wildlife, not a high intensity hike.
I hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions you may have. I'm sure your trip will be incredible! 😊
@@AdventureswithPinny Thank you for your response! Super helpful! I'm going to have to start looking into travel vaccinations. And I'm going to bring my tripod! I think it will be worth it for this one-in-a-lifetime trip! Appreciate the tips! Cheers!
Of course, happy to help! Definitely worth it imo, if I could go back in time I would bring a tripod so learn from my mistakes haha. 🥲 Hopefully you get to see a jaguar too, fingers crossed! Enjoy!!
Hey Guys, great video! I’m looking to see to Amazon in April! I’ll be flying from London - were there any solo travellers at the lodge when you went? And how did you get there from the airport? Cheers!
Hey Tom, thank you so much! That's awesome!! While we were at the lodge there weren't any solo travelers, but varying group sizes and all the groups kind of got to know one another from meal times and the research lectures at the end of the night, intermingling and chatting. So I don't think you would have any issues being a solo traveler. The guides and researchers were often around at the ends of the night as well. We flew into Puerto Maldonado and from there Rainforest Expeditions (who run the Tambopata Research Center) were there waiting for us and took us by bus and boat to the ecolodge. It was definitely nice not having to worry about transportation! We were honestly really happy with our experience with Rainforest Expeditions and the lodge. I hope this helps!
Excellent video ! Certainly at that time was a great day of your explering😊
Thank you so much! It was definitely an epic adventure I will never forget 💚
I don't understand from your video how you managed this tour ? Like how you booked the tour guide ? Is it provided by the eco center ? I checked the prices and its very expensive. How can someone do a cheaper trip of Amazon ?
Also, I was thinking if doing Amazon from Peru is better than doing it from Brazil !??
hi! i’m doing amazon to the andes this july. was wondering if you brought your own boots for the deep water in the amazon or if the lodge had some? not sure mine will hold up against it. thanks!
Hi, good question! Luckily the lodge had the boots available in many different sizes for guests to use so we didn't need to bring our own. Enjoy your trip, Im sure it will be amazing!
Great vid, can I post on the Tambopata Travel Facebook Page?
Hi Mike, thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it. You are more than welcome to post the video there. Have a great day!
@@AdventureswithPinny Thank you so much, I work with yhe exact same experience you had, just that I offer better prices and added value to my clients in terms of in-country support, advice & answering any questions as well as helping iron out any issues that may occur like flight delays. I have been running Tambopata Travel for 13yrs, first came to the Tambopata rainforest in 1997 for 6 months as a researcher, moved to Peru from South Africa permanrntly in 2008 🙂
That is incredible! It definitely seems like you have a lot of experience and value to offer. How amazing that you have been doing this for 13 years as well. We definitely want to come back someday and we will keep Tambopata Travel in mind!
Fantastic, look forward ro hosting you in the future 😊
Where did yall stay ?
We stayed at Tambopata Research Center exolodge. Link in the description if you are interested. We were very happy with our stay and would stay again. It was pricey but all inclusive and well worth it in our opinion. Hope that helps!
