  • A Delta IV Heavy is seen as the backdrop to a unique 3D projection story about the industry, national security space and the future of space exploration. This unique experience was projected on the rocket and mobile service tower at Space Launch Complex-37 (SLC-37) ahead of the Delta IV Heavy NROL-44 launch for the National Reconnaissance Office.

The projectors we used (Christie D4K40 Pure RGB Laser) don’t have a lens available to throw from outside the BDA. Also, The Range requires proper lighting for a launch. Projection doesn’t meet that requirement. Also, It really wasn’t that visible from off base. We set up and tested over 3 nights.

It won’t since it’ll be traveling at nearly orbital velocity when it reaches MECO; far faster than a Falcon 9 booster. Meaning even if they wanted to- it’d take space shuttle level heat shielding to survive. It isn’t practical at all.
Especially when the engines burn themselves out (they’re ablative & literally melt away), so the cost to catch & refurbish one of these boosters would cost more than to just maximize its use.
Not to mention ULA’s market really doesn’t benefit from reuse since they aim for deep space where performance & reliability are more important metrics than cost.

I hope SpaceX never resorts to this level of high cheese and just get on with the coolest most spectacular thing about rockets, which is they launch to orbit, rather than act as advertising billboards. ULA has accomplished a lot over the years but, let's not forget that this is hyping an overpriced technology that is becoming outdated and will soon become obsolete.

Totally Propaganda with false claims about the extent of what they do. Why So? Because this alliance only provides the launch vehicle, NOT the Life Saving and Enhancing Services mentioned. They do not create them. But they would have you believe they do. They want to perpetuate their old, inefficient and wasteful technologies for their benefit, not the countries. Their launch fees are excessive, and not a good value, since systems that reuse the launch devices are available.

Actually it isn’t a waste since they can get performance that SpaceX only dreams of. Especially with unprecedented accuracy & variations.
Landing rockets is cool- but only works for flights to LEO. ULA doesn’t focus on that. They go too far into deep space for it to be practical. Any booster built to fly these missions, would burn up on re-entry anyway since they’d be traveling 2x faster than the Falcon 9 does on its return.

@ZooNamedGames you keep mentioning only F9,why you never talk about F-Heavy? and let me tell you that "spaceX can only dream of"(that make me laugh...not gonna lie) it's a really strong statement...for such a young PRIVATE agency they achieved what people believed impossible in such short time.
