    So, Emmanuel Acho has "Difficult Conversations with A Black Man", does anyone else get similar vibes from Dave's videos but about race and so many more topics? And the fact that his videos are shot live, no edits, and he's just talking on the fly. He demonstrates so much insight, introspection, respect, gosh so many things.

    That was a TERRIFIC interview Dave and Reality Steve both. Dave, you have such a nack... like you've been doing this your whole life. You guys talk like best friends already. You should do more interviews.
    Anyway, my opinion of Reality Steve skyrocketed so much more than when he did Whit & Ry. Not sure if he's just saying his side of the story more by now and had so many apologies, but I just think we got a more in depth explanation of his intentions, or lack thereof, with Demi, and I do believe he had no bad or sexual intent.
    I enjoyed some of the other stories as I've only been watching him for a year and a half. That's some good stuff. I liked your take on the 'legal then, moral compass now idea. Makes sense.

    Overall, great interview. I do really have to say that if we are talking about all things being equal karmically, maybe we should ask Jade and Jenna. They are both doing well now, but just like we talk about with Brittany Galvin, that stuff will follow them forever. Steve will never feel what they felt. He can take it all down, apologize, etc., but as we know, the internet is forever.

    I listened to the podcast and then this interview. Both have really changed my previous outrage and kind of malicious vindictive anger to deeper understanding and sympathy for both Demi AND Steve. He cannot change that he made mistakes and hurt people - and that’s a hard thing to carry. I do believe that he genuinely regrets that he cannot change the consequences and that it was not done with malicious intent. I do really appreciate that he’s now added the “moral compass” to stay to the show content and not police the cast members personal lives. Great interview! Really important to have these conversations ❤️

    I’m tired of people griping about “cancel culture …”There is no such thing as cancel culture . People lose their jobs every day for their past or stupid things they did .but it doesn’t mean that these people will be done in show biz for ever . All these so called people that have been canceled end up getting other opportunities and people have a choice if they want to continue to support or not to

    • @DaveNealComedian
      @DaveNealComedian  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      are you refering to a specific part of the interview? Cancel culture is obviously a (flawed) complex term. It exists in the sense that if people can reach out to advertisers or bosses to get others fired, they do. id be happy to discuss it further.

    • @jillwade123
      @jillwade123 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@DaveNealComedian I’m talking about in general . But I can see Steve defensive response in regards to cancel culture … and like he specifically said he has not seen a drop in his site’s viewership. (So obviously he is not cancelled) All people did was hold him accountable. Of course he is going to get a few internet trolls here and there but he just needs to worry about continuing his journey on “doing the work.” But I do not understand his defensiveness with this topic when he has tried to cast several people on the show in a bad light like Peter, Jed , Matt, Eazy etc . I think you did a great job interviewing him , I just don’t get how he doesn’t see that he has played into trying to “cancel” several people. His previous blogs weren’t just spoilers but he also lived off of “exposing” people . Hopefully he has truly learned from this situation, but my mom has always told me when someone is sorry they will show you and tell you their sorry every time .. and I’m just not feeling like he gets it.

    • @JB-wc9hn
      @JB-wc9hn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@jillwade123 I don’t think he’s tried to cancel those people. His job is to comment on the show. He’s been critical of Peter as many fans are, but that’s not canceling him. Jeds situation was something that was happening as the show was filming and his ex even came forward. Steve was reporting on what his ex was saying about how they never broke up. Steve also refused to say what the allegation against Easy was until his accuser came forward about it publicly. If that’s canceling, then technically any news outlet that reports on negative things public figures have done is canceling.

      @@jillwade123 I think you misunderstood what he was trying to say. I've been reading his blog for years and I can tell you that Steve completely agrees with you about cancel culture. You said cancel culture isn't a thing...he has been saying that exact thing for the past two years! Especially in regards to people saying Chris Harrison was unjustly canceled. Steve has been very consistent in saying that holding people accountable is NOT canceling. He has said numerous times that getting fired is a consequence and that doesn't mean anyone is canceled. Chris Harrison was fired & will be just fine. What you perceived as defensiveness I think is his frustration that people still don't get it. People think they "canceled" him. He wasn't, his income hasn't been affected at all and that's what he was trying to point out. That people think they did something but they didn't.

    Those with significant power are stressed about being held accountable ("cancel culture") for fear that their power will be taken away but look at how the lack of accountability in our culture has upheld systems of oppression. There's no cancel culture like colonization and we've been colonized to perpetuate, fuel, tolerate or ignore misogyny and racism since the beginning. Misogyny and racism is in the air we breathe. Accountability is putting on the oxygen mask in order to heal our systems of oppression.

    So - I LOVE RS's spoilers - but years ago was rather put off by some of his commentary. So - I wasn't pro RS at all - BUT after listening to him be brave enough to speak about some tough issues for him... am impressed. Hardly any of the folks who purposefully tear down or torment women - EVER admit to making mistakes (they just cover things up by making false accusations). I don't think that it was EVER ok to be misogynistic - and I had a career where being female was NOT the norm (and so have had WAY too much nonsense thrown my way - hence have little patience for it)... BUT - I am thinking that RS has learned some things along and he seems likely to take more care in the future - and that seems like a very good thing. Unfortunately - true equality seems ever so slow in coming .... doesn't matter whether it revolves around racism, sexism or any other type of ism.

    Did no one let him know that those were up beforehand? I'm sure someone would've gone into the backlogs before and seen it. Him deleting them afterwards feels very performative. I agree that if someone stops repeating their past, then they should be allowed a second chance, but what steps has he taken to not only stop being a problem, but also be a part of the solution? Has he donated to women's organizations, been promoting a less mysoginistic environment in Bachelor? Honestly curious about this, please let me know if he has done anything to make his impact not just a net neutral, but a net positive!!

    It doesn’t matter if he “did it only once” to Demi and it wasn’t a whole bunch of women or the amount of information told to Demi, it is inappropriate. It shouldn’t happen, nor should take “one time” to know later it’s not something to do again. I think people can understand it was a mistake, but it shouldn’t minimize how much hurt or gross that feels as a woman to have happen. Despite remorse, it’s something now she unfortunately has to live with and carry-and that can’t be okay.
    How about we say “I’m greatly sorry to anyone I hurt and I’m wrong” and stop trying to defend yourself because that’s where it goes sideways?

    • @DaveNealComedian
