  • “Whenever there is a vacuum, things tend to go to the streets.”
    The increase in republican dissident protests are a result of Stormont’s ‘failure’ to get back up and running, says Bernie Ahern, former Taoiseach.

    Ah Bertie. He told the economists who warned of an impending crash to "go Ki@@ themselves" A few years before the country was bankrupt and had to get a bail out. Real nice guy. Hopefully he is humiliated in his run for President.

    as a southerner lets face it catholics maybe the narrow majority back in the autumn of 2022 it simply stated "catholics" not simply irish catholics the north has grown to 1.9 million, does this include spanish or polish or brazilian or italian catholics who live in the north? the alliance party looks to be the way forward for all in the north as seen in last years elections, clearly and end to bigotry and sectarianism on all sides is the best way forward, and lets face it with our country becoming more and more secular by the day, give it another 10 plus years religion may not be such an issue as it has been....

      also what about those northerners who live elsewhere in england , scotland , wales europe and the young protestants who live in the uk and beyond who go to uni in the uk they make a large number so interesting days ahead....

      It means protestantism is a dying religion. Its the same in England, Catholics technically outnumber the protestants here too.

    What a cheek, Ahern stands by and allows him to call it London Derry, not one of the people speaking live in the North of Ireland. It is not for you Mr Ahern to say when a border vote might happen, there may be a party in Power soon to alter your time frame. Finally you encourage the policy of the tail wagging the dog, Catholics are now the majority, Sinn Feinn is the largest party, which I acknowledge wont please you, and yet you promote bowing to the DUP who is holding the people to ransom. I remind all three of ye, the people of the North of Ireland "take note of what it is called Ahern in particular" voted to remain in Europe

    John, please, when talking to someone Irish or a Northern Irish Republican, call the second city of NI 'Derry' - not 'Londonderry'. It is somewhat disrespectful, in my opinion, to use a disputed place name which your interviewee is likely to despise.

      @@SimDeck I cannot understand why protestants in NI would want to remain in the UK. It's the poorest region within the UK and the English couldn't give a damn about you. And the UK economy is steadily going down the toilet. GDP per capita is MUCH larger in RI than the UK. It's even going to be overtaken soon by France!
      But it's demographics you should worry about. Catholics already outnumber protestants and the day of reunification is drawing ever nearer.

      @@windowman929 Hi, Gerald. I see your point, that an Irish speaker would call it Doire. I'm an Australian who only speaks English, so for me it's always going to be either Derry or Londonderry.

What are the British dominating and what in your view is the reason they are doing so? Can you explain please?

    English Intelligence consists of two groups with two symbols: mi5 and mi6. So if it is
    I = 9 = Daved in Russian, Accordingly, the mi5 = m9 × 5 = m45, and mi6 = m9 x 6 = m54, so MI5 + MI6 = M99 = MDAVEDS

      Joe should demand that the Republic should join NATO and share the burden of European defence! Since the vast majority of EU members are NATO members! Also while Joe is there insist that the Republic match UK support for Ukraine 6 billion dollars and help train Ukrainian troops like the British! Force Ireland to buy American made intelligence gathering aircraft as the British use! Send Irish special forces to Ukraine to replace the SAS!
