Ok Cool, yes it's an old video, but my daughters both 11, and 14, are generals, and just got their Mobilink 4, as we couldn't get the 3 for what seemed like forever. Awesome demo.
Thank you for mention the Mobilinkd product. Most with APRS radios would not think of adding something to their radio. Having a real keyboard really helps too. Yes there are iOS versions.
The "glitch" with the case pressure turning the unit on and off is probably because of a swollen battery. My TNC3 had a problem with the battery and the good people of Moblilink'd replaced it under warrantee. Another big plus for using this and the APRSdroid application is the ability to use "voice to text" in the drafting of messages (SMS or otherwise). You can really carry on a conversation via v2t. Great Vid~ See any Sasquatch on your outing? 73 Bigfoot Radio Net!
I think she'd need to reply with a message starting with your callsign with an @ in front of it. You'd obviously need to instruct her on that before you leave town.
@@KM6LYW How does the message get routed to the correct callsign if the person sending the SMS from their phone omits the @callsign from the start of the message?
@@solidstrike165 This shows good operation as well. Most new laptops have the same TRRS audio as cellphones. Wonder if you could use sound card modes and Direwolf on a laptop with one of these cables? th-cam.com/video/M9wAD8J-IQg/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful place to be off grid! I love my Mobilinkd, but I think I killed its battery leaving it in the car over the Maine winter. I have the cables for it to connect to my Baofeng and my Yaesu 7800r. I was able to connect to packet radio nodes and APRS while the kit ran in my car and I sat in a warm building near a window with my laptop. Great tool for emcomm team stuff. de KC1JMH

Great video! Always great to see real world applications of APRS
Hi Craig very beautiful scenery
I did not know about the ? after the number for confirmation. Thank for that tip.

The TNC3 is supposed to now work with iOS devices. Should also handle Winlink Packet mode as well.
Awesome Tysm
You should send a link to it
great job

Yah, but she'd never remember those instructions. In my experience the person need only reply like they would to any other person.

I have a MobilinkD TNC3, I find it too perfidious. It performs occasional stunts, but it is a not reliable service.
Too bad this service is no longer available.
Would love to see a shootout with DigiPi, Mobilikd, and the BTECH APRS-K1 Cable direct to the phone. TNX K4RJJ
TNC shootout! Great idea!
If there is another video with the APRS-K1 cable, please share the radio and app settings
@@solidstrike165 You might check with the guys at HRCC group. They are on top of this stuff as well.
@@solidstrike165 Now this was interesting! Might try changing the radio side to work with my 25 watt mobile. th-cam.com/video/Apz58N2n10U/w-d-xo.html
