That was terrific Thom & I totally agree that the TW's were one of the greatest bands ever! My very favorite by them is "End Of The Line"! Still hard to believe that three of them are no longer with us!
I don't know if you do guitar lessons in person or you ever did, but I have to say that you are the coolest teacher. A huge source of music for us who try to learn and of course in a small amount of time you manage to transmit all the beauty of these songs and point to us everything that is important to feel the music through the guitar.
Thanks for that. One of the best "feeling" gatherings of musicians ever. Their music always penetrated deep in my soul. Great job of breaking this one down. A shame to have lost so many, but glad they put down some great tracks for posterity.
Great choice of a song and a great presentation. Thanks so much. George wrote such great songs. "Old Brown Shoe" is another often underappreciated favorite. And your Roy Orbison vocals are astoundingly impeccable!! Or impeccably astounding! Rave on!
It's always fun to watch your channel as your enthusiasm is infectious. I'm a pretty experienced player (80) and I can usually play along with you instantly. I think it's the international aspect that attracts me as I'm British but play in bands in Prague made up of many nationalities including Czechs. According to him this song was inspired by George seeing a notice on a packing case.
2:49 always love this chords sequence.. 3:24 bless you sir .. now I finally what chords used in that part .. I always thought it was G but with G# in bass and it didn't sound quite right
@Phil McCrackin honestly dude I'm not the right person to answer that .. but I did saw it in some jazz chord progression .. therefore, my initial thoughts are it's belong in jazz family chords 😅
Thanks Thomas, I really enjoyed all these guys and you can tell they really enjoyed it especially George doing a little jig there. Poor George never seemed happy with the Beatles or his wife of that time. Alot of guitarist think they have to play lightning fast to play a song when simple can be just as good especially with the right guys. Great lesson like always, Peace.
Yeah, pretty much the same as "Shambala" by Three Dog Night. Learned that riff like 40 years ago, Back when Bob was still working on Maggie's farm. George was watching all things pass, Roy was still trying to pick up "Pretty Women" off the street And Tom & Jeff were probably still in school. Just Say'n.
I think the f# and the open D are played together as the first notes of the song. That's what i'm hearing. Good video! Well they all are ! Thank You. JG
Cause there are so many guitars you can play it many ways. I like the picking version you’ve suggested for the walk down base line and chords, I think your Roy Orbison pre chorus is a good way to play it to particularly with a band. Although I’d probably revert to the accoustic chorus pattern which I’ve always played as uududu sort of a backwards normal pattern. Thanks for doing it this way. It’s a great insight to thinking about it again. 👍
When John was killed I thought the best music was in the past. Thank God for the Wilburys as we got another decade of great music. Shame they got such a late start and unfair ending. BEATLES and WILBURYS FOREVER!
One thing that I never got about the wilburys. You have Roy Robison, best singer of his kind and Dylan with a bad voice. I do believe as lead vocal, it was 4-2 Dylan. Outside of that it was pure joy
Great video!! Much appreciated. I'm hearing a little bit different phrasing of the into on the B and C notes where it anticipates the next move. What do you think?
Nice tune and adorable worked out by you! But why is this one letting me think of of Badge and Here comes the sun and Peaches and Diesel and ..... :) :)
Thom I will be starting my own youtube channel this weekend and I am very inspired by you. Keep up the good work. May I ask for some blues stuff in the upcoming videos.
Hello Thom...fantastic video on another great song! Don't mean to be a nitpicker but it looks like what is supposed to be a D7 in the chord chart is actually tabbed out as an E7.🧐

You are awesome!!
And what a great song. Great lyrics and a wonderful production and performances by unquestionably great entertainers -- legends all.
One of my all time favorite songs. R.I.P. George, Roy, and Tom
So sad
Roy's section is my favourite, something angelic yet haunting in his delivery and chord progression...
That was terrific Thom & I totally agree that the TW's were one of the greatest bands ever! My very favorite by them is "End Of The Line"! Still hard to believe that three of them are no longer with us!
George makes this record - a great vocal and superb riff and slide part. Effortless.
He was the leader of the group! He had to make it happen!

LOVE the TRAVELING WILBURYS!!! Thanks for making this video, Thom!
my Absolute most favorite band or group of musicians ever
Guy, u are a great teacher ... very entertaining and knowledgable! You definitely know what's great guitar music too
This one completely slipped under my radar. I've now included into repertoire. Totally doable. You're the best. Please don't stop what you're doing.
Thanks for that. One of the best "feeling" gatherings of musicians ever. Their music always penetrated deep in my soul. Great job of breaking this one down. A shame to have lost so many, but glad they put down some great tracks for posterity.
One of my favourite songs. This chord progression/riff is a standard. I’m glad you are showcasing it. (More Than A Feeling etc)
Been listening to Traveling Wilburys and Tom Petty on and off all day, thanks GP.
just the best song ever made ! by the best musicians i love !
They were INCREDIBLE!!! Songs u could sink your teeth into
this is an excellent lesson and i greatly appreciate how you get right on it and don't drag it out -- you rock!
I think they were the best super group of SONGWRITERS of all time!
Great choice of a song and a great presentation. Thanks so much. George wrote such great songs. "Old Brown Shoe" is another often underappreciated favorite.

Great choice! Thank you.

Another great song and another great video. Thanks 👍
Beautiful song and explanation
Such a great song. My wife’s favourite ! As a player it’s a such a good warm up song….best supergroup ever …..
Ah hell, I subbed just cause of the band/song even before watching the whole video. So chill and to break it down like that is just beautiful.
Awesome! I just got hired by a band yesterday (have my own band too!) and this is one of the songs!
MUCHAS GRACIAS, EXCELENTE TU CANAL Y MUY BUENA TU CLASE. ESTA CANCION ES UNA DE MIS FAVORITAS, SALUDOS DESDE CHILE!
Thank you Tom apostrophe absolutely excellent as always
Love this song and thanks for showing this
You handled that with ultimate care. Thanks.
Awesome as always

I already knew how to play it, but your explanation is incredible

Sorry Thom the auto correct put Thomas.
Goed gedaan Thom. Dank!
3:10 Spot on Roy Orbison impression
one of the first songs I learned way back then
This song I always avoided because it was hard to make it sound good and I didn't like the way other youtubers played it. Glad you covered it.
The greatest super group ever. Without question. Fight me.
Well played Thom, love that super band !!
There is a nice documentary about Jeff Lynne where he recounts how they form that band.
Yeah, pretty much the same as "Shambala" by Three Dog Night.
Learned that riff like 40 years ago,
Back when Bob was still working on Maggie's farm.

You make aweome videos man

What a band they were.
The guitar line has Harrison all over it!
Roy is smiling at your Roy.
When John was killed I thought the best music was in the past. Thank God for the Wilburys as we got another decade of great music. Shame they got such a late start and unfair ending. BEATLES and WILBURYS FOREVER!
Most George Harrison hits have a descent…I reckon.
@guitarpilgrim, consider also doing "End of the LIne" by the Wilburys
The great wilburys
Slide Solo by George played on Mike Campbell's Strat
How is your family? Haven't seen you in awhile. Cool band.
A lot of Badge DNA in that one.
Interesting thing was George played primarily standard tuning slide.
This is a great vid, but I do have to question the line: "...the one thing George Harrison is famous for is his slide guitar..."😆😇
George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne all saying ‘Wow we’ve got Roy Orbison in our band’.
Intro Chords are similar to what Eric Clapton played on Cream's White Room and Tales Of Brave Ullyses. 🎸
Supergut!
The best voice of Rock and roll music: Mr Roy Orbison
One thing that I never got about the wilburys. You have Roy Robison, best singer of his kind and Dylan with a bad voice. I do believe as lead vocal, it was 4-2 Dylan. Outside of that it was pure joy

Yes. But keep up the good work!🙂
Wonderful way to teach, thanks. BTW Your strato guitar, is an American Vintage '61? or American Original '60s, sounds really great.
♥️
Thom I will be starting my own youtube channel this weekend and I am very inspired by you. Keep up the good work. May I ask for some blues stuff in the upcoming videos.
Nelson, Otis, Charlie, Lefty y Lucky; los hermanos Wilbury
This is just another really excellent video from Pilgrim.! Top class teacher always. Can anyone tell me what type of Strat that is???
Faded white or cream:)
Yea but what strat?? American pro 11??
'Probably the one thing George Harrison is famous for' is his slide solos?! Really?!
No, not really.
He was also in a somewhat known band called the Beatles.
You should do warren haynes everyday will be like a holiday
World will mourn when bob the god is gone ey !
👍👍👍
Reminds me of Shambala by 3DogNight.
Hello Thom...fantastic video on another great song! Don't mean to be a nitpicker but it looks like what is supposed to be a D7 in the chord chart is actually tabbed out as an E7.🧐
Thx for the heads up! I corrected the mistake!
Sounds like Shambala by 3 dog night
Try a 12 string for this one!
who plays this awesome slide guitar on the song "boobs" (Bellamy brothers) album 40 released 2015? Anyone?
😁👍👍
You might be mistaken.
This is the riff from Desiree by Curved Air.
th-cam.com/video/QWgdDlRJMm4/w-d-xo.html
Am i the only who hears "Shambala" Buckwheat Stephenson in this ?
Doesn't sound right on a six string.
❤
