Wish I could snap my fingers and have my tooling come out that nice!!! Perhaps you could punch slots in the gusset and weave the strap through them instead of sewing in pieces. I did this on a round canteen cover and it worked well. The zipper would have to be smaller for it to as well. Cool project!

With how thin the gusset is, do you think this would be possible to do on a flat bed sewing machine if you don’t have a cylinder arm machine at your disposal?

Is the zipper 1/2 of the circumference of the bag? I think 1/3 is enough, beautiful work, just so that the belt clamping system would do it differently

Hi Don, wonderful video as always. I have a question about hand stitching this particular project. How would you recommend punching stitching holes with this? I imagine it would be somewhat awkward, and likely would have to be done once the gusset is glued to the panels? Any tips or tricks would be great. Thank you for what you do. I have learned so much from you already.

Ok so I used 3 ounce leather for my gusset, it ended up being around 3/8” to 1/2” to long. My measurements were on the Money so the only thing I could think of is the 3 ounce leather either stretched as I glued it to the face or the leather being 3 ounces made the gusset longer?
