- Hey guys! In this video, I’m going to tell you what you NEED to buy for your gecko and a few things that you should include as well! I will do my best to provide specific examples of products, but certain products may not be available in your region. There are definitely substitutes for said products, however! (I am not affiliated with any of these companies and am only suggesting them based on price, accessibility, and experience with them!)

i really liked your video! its fantastic and very well informed! your video of your leo climbing made me laugh, my leos do stuff like that all the time!! One thing I did want to mention is the herpavite multivitamin lacks vitamin A, I had to switch multivitamins recently because of this. I wish you the best!
Thank you! Planning on remaking the video if I ever get the time! I'll look into more multivitamins, that's good to know! Luckily I haven't had any issues with herpavite yet.
I have a reptile hammock that my leopard gecko actually climbs up to quite often. Probably every night. I've put a layer of coconut shavings and reptisoil on it so his little hands have an easier time staying on the net without falling through.
That's smart! They really do love to climb, don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
Cool video. I thought your setup was cool can you make a breakthrough on how you made it?
I'll try my best! What type of stuff would you want to see in that type of video?
thanks i was going to buy one
What were you going to buy specifically?
@@leopardopedia leopard gecko
Ah! Glad I could help! Good luck!@@Stinger_HAPPY
0:38 holy shit that small beauty looks like one of mine, Mathilde. she isnt this big now only about a year old, but looks like i can "see" what she is gonna probably look like when shes full grown
a very beautiful gecko you got there
Thanks! If your Mathilde looks anything like Autumn then I'm sure she's going to look amazing!
@@leopardopedia
she has the same colour and pattern, atleast on her cute little face, the shades might vary from Autumn but its atleast in the 90% close range haha
Nice video.
Just bought a leo. We have a 36x18x21 enclosure. What uvb fixture would you suggest and the length and wattage? The arcadia shadedweller only comes in 12 inch
I have the Reptisun T5 5% HO bulb at 24 inches, and the bulb is 22 inches!
@leopardopedia so what did you do with that? Obviously it won't fit being 2 inches short? Lol
@deanjager4341 whoops! I misread your comment haha, if your enclosure is 18" wide, you need a 12 inch bulb. It should be 2/3 the size of the tank!
Great video! I have one question tho. Do you need a 600W thermostat for a 50W or 80W dhp? Or will 100-300W be enough?
Thanks Skidoods! I'd be happy to answer your question, If you are using a 50W or 80W DHP, you only need a 100W thermostat (assuming nothing else is connected). I use the 600W one because that is the one with the "dimming" feature, which is what you absolutely need if you're using a deep heat projector! Hope that helps!
@@leopardopedia Ah makes sense. I am thinking of getting my first leopard gecko in august. Your video helped a lot on getting some extra information and perspective on it. Will crickets and mealworms with an ocational morio worm be a healthy diet? Also, do you have any other general tips people tend to overlook? Thanks for the help!
@@skidoods8196 I think thats a pretty good diet honestly! Just make sure you're dusting with calcium and multi-vitamins! I can't think of any tips right now, but you can join the Leopard Gecko discord with this link: discord.gg/SFKsCkTrjv
They can help you with anything you need!
@@leopardopedia Thanks for the invite! That will come in handy
A fellow JSchlutt, I see
Maybe... 😶👉👈
Edit: I cannot believe I just typed that
Great video, looking to get a better setup from tiles in mine. Looking at the earthMix like you have, how often do you need to remove everything and replace the substrate and what is your cleaning regime like on this setup 👍🏻
Hey! Thanks! I'm trying to get back into making content but have a bit busy! I haven't replaced mine yet, but I believe it is suggested to do it every 6 to 12 months, as well as daily spot cleaning. I've fallen a bit behind on my spot cleaning, but plan to change my substrate around Christmas. Make sure you keep around 25% of the old substrate so your gecko still smells itself!
@@leopardopedia thanks for the reply, got my little fella as a rescue and going good
@@irish1759able Thats great!
Aye mate what thermostat did you use? I’m in the process of sourcing everything for my terrariums
Exo-Terra 600W Dimming Thermostat! As long as it's dimming, your DHP should be fine!
@@leopardopedia is the dimming the night cycle? And what should I have the temp be on the hot side at noght
@Scott Horvath The dimming just maximizes the life expectancy of your heating device and keeps it from overheating!
Edit: At night, you can lower the temp to around 70F, but as long as it doesn't drop below room temp, you should be fine. I just prefer to keep mine around 70F at night to give a little bit more natural feeling.
Does a 36x18x16 tank work?
Absolutely! That's a tiny bit bigger than my tank! I have a 36x18x12, bigger is better! You might not have to raise your UVB by much, if any.
Does the lamp matter because i got the combo dual lamp fixture or is it just the bulbs that matter more?
It depends on what you're putting in it, I guess. If you plan on using a DHP and a CHE in each slot and the wattage is appropriate than you should be fine as long as you have the proper thermostat.
If you plan on using a UVB bulb, I would say no. I'd use a tube bulb that's about 2/3 the length of your tank, preferably T5 as they are way more efficient than T8 bulbs!
@@leopardopediaokay thanks you
@@leopardopedia so i have a 20 gallon tank right now what would you get 50 walts or something else?
@michaelvega824 I'm assuming you're talking about your bulb being 50W? If so, that should be fine, depending on the height, and the type of bulb. Like I said, DHP are one of the best bulbs for them, and as long as you have a good thermostat for it, you can go with higher wattage and it'll stay regulated at a healthy temp.
Also, make sure you look into upgrading your tank to something bigger as your Leo grows! A 20 gallon (long) is barely big enough for anything besides a baby or small juvenile!
@@leopardopedia okay thanks and yes that’s what i was thinking with going thank you so much you’ve been a great help
do i have to upgrade to 40?
For an adult, a 40 is the minimum size to thrive. 20 long is enough to survive, but think about it as if it were yourself. Would you rather thrive or just survive?
Best of luck!
can you link the Thermostat you use? if it isn't already if it is idk what one
Yeah, no problem!
This is the site I got mine from! It's the cheapest option I could find that supports both a day and night heat source. It has a dimming feature that is necessary for a Deep Heat Projector:

Is a 2 by 2 foot gage good?
Hey! What do you mean by gage?
Oh! Enclosure/Cage? It will do, but I would definitely recommend upgrading as your Gecko grows!

Hi, Can you shout a little louder!! I can't hear you
Thanks for the feedback, I've been wanting to get back into making videos, starting with remaking this one. I'll take that into consideration!
Need a better mic or get closer js
Yeah, I upgraded my mic and headset recently!
Bro, you have like nowhere to hide for that gecko in there
I have 4 hides, a cave, and multiple sticks that cover and create dark spots for her.
