      Dont know what he said exactly, but you should definetly avoid sand (EXPECIALLY calci-sand ) Coco soil, coco husks, wood chips and wood shavings.
      Theres lot of natural options like earch arid mix of some sort.
      If you have yourself a baby I highly reccomend you to use paper towel , I would switch to loose substrate when the baby is either grown up or juvenille .

      New reptiles should be quarantined on paper towel for at least six weeks (ideally three months) to monitor their health. After, a suitable loose substrate is best; digging/burrowing enrichment is very beneficial for them. A soil/playsand or soil/sand/clay mix is ideal.

      Depends on the size, I recommend a 16 gallon tank for baby’s and adult sized leopard geckos! Also recommend getting tanks with doors on the front! Why? It can stress the gecko out if your grabbing it from above. It could seem like your a bird trying to grab it witch could result in it dropping its tail! Only thing i really have a problem with is the lighting. Leos are not nocturnal, they are crepuscular. They are most active from dawn and dusk. They do get that low amount of UVB during them times and is 100% beneficial to give your leo UVB. There are so many incidents out there where there Leo has MBD and could have helped a lot to have UVB. Now i cant blame you for having a different opinion because uvb is such a debated topic for Leos but i think it would have been good to at least let your viewers no that it is beneficial for them to have UVB. Also loose substrate is fine if your husbandry is on point, impaction is a secondary thing meaning there has to be something else that is wrong like the lighting witch helps your Leo digest its food, but i do agree for beginners i would not do loose substrate. and again just my opinion and i respect everyone's opinion. Everything i agree with what this man just said for beginners except the lighting thing, i think all Leos should have uvb. Great video all in all.

    If the Leo’s vivarium is in a room with natural daylight, does it still need a light?

    • @caleb13c
      @caleb13c 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, but make sure the sunlight is indirect, it might overheat the enclosure otherwise

    what do you guys think i should go for? 2ft, 2.5ft or 3ft vivarium?

    • @officialgamerz29
      @officialgamerz29 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How old is the gecko? Juvenile needs to have a pretty small tank, but adults could have 3ft.

    Do they require a UV light?

    • @officialgamerz29
      @officialgamerz29 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No not really, but they can be used as a substitute for supplementing d3 with their calcium. Either d3 or uvb not both as this can actually cause mbd.

      It’s not required for them to survive, but beneficial and recommended.

    Don’t want to sound dumb but wouldn’t the heat pad burn the tissue

    • @nightinggale6470
      @nightinggale6470 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heat mats are not a good heat source, overhead heating is much better for them. A halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer/dimming thermostat is the most natural and beneficial option, Arcadia’s deep heat projector is the second best option. They produce infrared A and B like the sun, heat that penetrates deep into the skin tissue and heats them far more effectively than heat mats. Whereas heat mats only produce IRC, which only heats the surface of their skin.
      Here’s a good video comparing heat sources th-cam.com/video/dUJZ04sqhxk/w-d-xo.html

    do i need a led lamp ? i will put mine gecko right next to a window ... the sun shines through almost all day

    • @nightinggale6470
      @nightinggale6470 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you don’t need an LED lamp. Make sure no direct sunlight enters the tank, it could overheat it. It’s ideal to use both a halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer or dimming thermostat for heat, as well as a tube UVB bulb.

    So their ok with no light at night? I’m struggling with lighting because the way the room is, is that there is no light naturally so I’m kind of confused

    • @elleighhutchinson3092
      @elleighhutchinson3092 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So basically you need to get some sort of lamp or light (not a heat lamp because you have the heat mat) that you can turn off at night and turn on in the morning.

    What about enrichment. Can you enrich your gecko enclosure some way?

    • @all-in-onevideos4657
      @all-in-onevideos4657 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can add enrichment in the form of plants and half-logs

    • @ClairityRoseCalvillo

      Simply reorganizing the tank often should be enriching. a dig box can be fun.

    • @ph0enixkng987
      @ph0enixkng987 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      90 gallon!?!?? Way too much the max size is 20 gallon for a leopard gecko 10 gallon for a single gecko 15 for 2 and 20 for 3

    • @gryllidaeperkcal1369
      @gryllidaeperkcal1369 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s perfectly fine if you provide the proper heat and enough hides.

    • @gryllidaeperkcal1369
      @gryllidaeperkcal1369 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ph0enixkng987 that’s false, leopard geckos don’t need a 20 gallon max. They can go into bigger if the proper heating and hiding places is provided. I keep mine in a 55 gallon enclosure and I see some people move them into 120 gallon equivalent enclosures.

    • @ph0enixkng987
      @ph0enixkng987 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Arianna Madoshus bit excessive, it can be washed once a month and you should be good to go, just keep up spot cleaning.

    • @officialgamerz29
      @officialgamerz29 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Arianna Madoshus tile is okay, but would be best if its not the only type of floor in the tank. Tile stays hot or cold for quite some time so it can be good, but i wouldn't recommend it. But don't go off what I say, have a good research into tile as a substrate and make a decision then. Hope this helps😊
