Sadly, my experience with Goodwill lately has been that their prices are too high. It's like they are getting greedy. It really spoils the whole fun of thrifting when you keep picking up items and going "nope, too high". I also don't enjoy listening to others in the store constantly complaining of the prices.
I love salvation army by my house.. On the weekend they do bulk clothing where it a dollar a item it all have the same color tag.. But u have to get 5.. And everythi g else is very cheap! I hardly ever go to goodwill anymore!
I agree. I thought maybe I was being too cheap, so I am glad to know it's not just me. I have started shopping in a lot of mom and pop thrift stores in my area and that seems to be working for me.
Morgan Feaganes you’re lucky. We do have coupons for our S.A. But otherwise they are ridiculously high. Our Goodwills are much more reasonable. I guess it depends where you live.
It totally depends on where you live. Each GW has their own region even within each state. I prefer my GW over SA because they do a 50% off the color of the week tag sale. SA only offers 25% off on Wednesday. Also, my GW stores prices their furniture and housewares to MOVE! My SA thinks it has a furniture showroom and jacks up the prices! 🙄😑
I stopped shopping at chain thrift years ago. Only go to one owner, church type owned thrift stores or community ones serving kids programs. They dont have boutique type prices.
I once bought a LV handbag at GW for $2. Polished it with blue shoe polish. Looked new. Offered it to a girl friend. She did not like it so I dropped it off at a consignment store down the road. Sold in three days for $320. I got $160. Told my mom the story. She thought it was crazy to pay that much. I responded that the buyer got a good deal, as a similar new one was priced at $800.
The colourful "cooking thing" is actually a double boiler - you put water in the bottom pot and you make a sauce or melt chocolate etc. in the top pot.
Yes I know it's such a shame! Surprisingly that mirrored vanity top thing was gone within a few days... I guess somebody liked it enough to pay that price!
I am making a spreadsheet on what to look for. My pet peeve with thrift stores is this. It's not the people it's their damn social media. Find them and like them on facebook. Come on get a god damn website. It urks me.
its clearly worth it to someone who likes it. keep in mind, goodwill is a non profit org & they are selling in order to fund charitable projects. so give with a smile. you're helping someone while getting something for yourself. i donate to numerous charities expecting nothing in return. charity thrift shops are a bonus. my friends & i buy things @ goodwill/salvation army stores to hand out to our local domestic abuse & homeless shelters. ie. clothes,luggage, backpacks, toys, etc..
yes was pretty i grew up i the 60s as a child so much has changed over the years. vintage is still my favorite even today. metal vs plastic any day for me. things lasted much longer due to it
Locally, i've noticed items from the $1.00 store, or from Targets $ section, and Goodwill prices the items at $1.00 or higher. I was told by Goodwill employees that if a store price sticker is on a donated item, Goodwill will price it at 50% of that price. I was also told that sometimes Goodwill has to purchase donations, especially from department stores at pennies on the dollar, but price those goods at 50% of retail. Don't know if it's the truth, or how to check that information.
It’s called “target Wednesday” at good will. They buy in bulk from target.. stuff that don’t get sold or are sitting on the shelf for too long and goodwill buys it from target. It’s not just donated stuff
Yeah on the pots I don't know if anybody has said it yet but those are what's called double boilers water goes in the bottom part for it to boil you put the second part in and you melt chocolate in it so the chocolate doesn't burn in the pot

Once I found Jerzeee sweatshirts (used) at Goodwill for $5, and that's what they were at dollar general. Then I found s McCoy pottery vase for$1. I guess they had no clue.

The goodwill I shop at prices are not that high. I bought 12 brand new nurse's uniforms for $7.50 each yesterday, that would cost $50 or more at the uniform store. Keureg single serve coffee makers sell for $10 to $15. All my family members and some of my co-workers have them, and I'm constantly getting request to find more. They also sell refurbished computers, laptop and desktops that they build in store, everything in them is new. Donations are from Dell.
More and more people are selling their items on Facebook Marketplace - no insertion fee or value fee. Check it out on Facebook .... neat items in your local area.

I'm from MN. Since most of us are of scandinavian descent, we all grew up with that adorable Swedish design (on your double boiler) in our kitchens. Quite the find. I would have snatched it up.
I’m in the UK. We have charity shops. Closest to me is one for an animal charity where you donate goods, shop profits go to the charity. Most of the shop staff are volunteers. In town there are charity shops for the local hospice, help the aged, another animal shelter and Oxfam. How does Goodwill operate in comparison to the UK ? I really shouldn’t like watching videos about shops I’ll never visit in a country I probably won’t ever visit , but they’re so addictive!!!!
Goodwill prices are supposed to be standard, but they aren't. The goodwill in Mom's small town in Iowa are 1/3 the prices in Denver. They don't use the markers here, they still use stickers, which are placed right over the makers mark, so you have to peel the tags back to see who made the item. then when you push the stickers down they tear and the scanner won't pick them up so a manager has to be called...ugh.

LOVE the stack of books. I expected horror music to play when you opened the dollar box, kinda like Psycho LOL Eek, eek, eek. LOL The wine cork art was pretty. The vanity mirror for $49.99 is a reasonable price. I think it is the only thing I really agreed with price wise. It was more consistent with fleamarket/antique store prices in Arkansas.

Sounds awesome, I wish I was a better clothes thrifter... I don't take the time to really look for my size and stuff that I like. Hopefully I will try to get better at this! 😁
I always push the clothes around & check the rack's support structures, people hide the best stuff on the center bar between the racks where the clothes hide it.
Double pot is a double boiler. Water in bottom, food in top. Steam under rather than direct heat. Used to prevent burning of pudding & sauces. Cork pictures are trivets
At some of my local Goodwils, if there are 2 items...same thing but different prices....they'll charge the higher price. Also Goodwills in northern Indiana have recently raised their prices....again. I am disappointed.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who is aggravated with Goodwill and their prices. They are too high and they are too arbitrary with their prices. I don't donate to them anymore either.
Rubbing alcohol and magic erasers and sometimes just a wet napkin... I'm not sure why they do this, I'm assuming they can get stuff out on the floor quicker then having to use a price tag gun...lol 😂

Sturdy solid wood Chair $19.99, Yet compressed wood letter organizer $6.99 ?? I did find out one of the reasons why the prices are way off at our stores in my area, they said you never know who is pricing the items from day to day because most of the workers are people doing there community service hours from court sentence and some volunteers. So just anyone like me or you could be back there putting whatever price we think should be on there that day and then you the next day. I think that's CRAZY, they should have a system and the same people pricing so it is reasonable and makes sense. Why over price so it won't same?!?! And just take up counter space??? It was free, the more you move the more money you make

At my local goodwill, they have one person who prices things. I found a cute vintage telephone stand, it wasn't priced but was on display on the floor. I asked about a price and they told me I couldn't buy it because the girl who prices wasn't there at the moment, lunch break I think. They said if they put a price on it, they could loose their job for doing so. How dumb is that? If they would have a 50% off the entire store at least one day a week, they would probably make more money in that day than they do the rest of the week, it would make room for more inventory, and the number one is that since all items are donated, they still make money without having to toss things in the dumpster. I watched one day while a girl at goodwill threw lots of great stuff in the dumpster because it had been on the shelf too long. If only they would lower their prices.....

The floral pot is a double boiler. Water goes in bottom pot and you cook in the top pot.
I think the cork square is a trivet for hot pans. I would have got the coffee grinder, the wooden books, wax warmer, plant mister, eye mask.

I got some 501 levis today asst goodwill and I scored a cast iron bird for 22 cents.
Sounds awesome, I wish I was a better clothes thrifter... I don't take the time to really look for my size and stuff that I like. Hopefully I will try to get better at this! 😁
I was looking for jeans for my son. He is in dire need!! Lol!! He's 14 and picky.
I always push the clothes around & check the rack's support structures, people hide the best stuff on the center bar between the racks where the clothes hide it.
Those books belong to a ceramic doll in a school desk. My sister stole my dolls books, right off her desk

Double pot is a double boiler. Water in bottom, food in top. Steam under rather than direct heat. Used to prevent burning of pudding & sauces. Cork pictures are trivets

At some of my local Goodwils, if there are 2 items...same thing but different prices....they'll charge the higher price. Also Goodwills in northern Indiana have recently raised their prices....again. I am disappointed.
Ebooks on amazon I have read 2 and have some great ideas on what to get. Nice video.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who is aggravated with Goodwill and their prices. They are too high and they are too arbitrary with their prices. I don't donate to them anymore either.

Freecycle has the best prices for items, most states have a website to view. The cost of the items "FREE"!

Rubbing alcohol and magic erasers and sometimes just a wet napkin... I'm not sure why they do this, I'm assuming they can get stuff out on the floor quicker then having to use a price tag gun...lol 😂

I did find out one of the reasons why the prices are way off at our stores in my area, they said you never know who is pricing the items from day to day because most of the workers are people doing there community service hours from court sentence and some volunteers. So just anyone like me or you could be back there putting whatever price we think should be on there that day and then you the next day. I think that's CRAZY, they should have a system and the same people pricing so it is reasonable and makes sense. Why over price so it won't same?!?! And just take up counter space??? It was free, the more you move the more money you make

At my local goodwill, they have one person who prices things. I found a cute vintage telephone stand, it wasn't priced but was on display on the floor. I asked about a price and they told me I couldn't buy it because the girl who prices wasn't there at the moment, lunch break I think. They said if they put a price on it, they could loose their job for doing so. How dumb is that? If they would have a 50% off the entire store at least one day a week, they would probably make more money in that day than they do the rest of the week, it would make room for more inventory, and the number one is that since all items are donated, they still make money without having to toss things in the dumpster. I watched one day while a girl at goodwill threw lots of great stuff in the dumpster because it had been on the shelf too long. If only they would lower their prices.....
Things you didn't what they were are cat toys/trees. The hanging wooden fish is the giveaway.

Yes I agree... Sometimes there may be an occasional item or two that are overpriced.. but for the most part I find great deals at Goodwill!! 😁 I just think it's better to buy second-hand in general. Thanks for watching.

Sometimes they're high, but sometimes they're really low it all depends on who price the stuff that day. This particular thrift store will mark down prices each week on furniture pieces if they don't sell. 😁 Thanks so much for watching and I hope you have a great weekend.
