Thank you for the comparison and the review. I will consider it when I take my two guns to the range and make my own comparison.
About 50 years ago my brother in law purchased a Ruger 10-22. I thought it was the neatest gun I had ever seen. Going with him was a treat. I suppose we shot thousands of rounds through that gun. He still owns it today.
Several years ago I bought a Ruger 10-22 from a fellow at work. It was a new gun that he had won at a convention. I added some 25 shot banana clips and thought I had found the funniest plinking gun on the market.
A few years later I was at the VietNam Veterans Booth at the county fair. They were raffling off a .270 and a .22. I signed up and asked when they were going to call me and tell me I had won. The fellow laughed and said they had another fair type event before the drawing but he would call me after that one, providing I won. About six weeks later he called and said he had the Marlin Model 60 .22 I had won. He wanted to meet with me and give me my new gun. We got together and I signed all the legal documents and I now have a Marlin Model 60 .22 and a Ruger 10-22. The Marlin is another fun plinking gun.
I have never taken both guns to the range and did a side by side test. I just took them there and shot them randomly. I enjoy both guns quite a bit. They are both sweet guns to shoot. Neither of them have ever malfunctioned.
One advantage of the Ruger is the accessories are endless. However that has not been my thing. The Marlin on the other hand seems to fit me and my lifestyle better. I actually like to shoot the Marlin a little bit more.
One thing for certain, a shooter can’t go wrong by owning one or the other or both.

It would be hard to chose between these two rifles . I’m glad I don’t have to. Thanks for watching 👍

I know every rifle shoots different but in my experience the model 60's that I have owned always shot better than the 10/22's that I have owned. I have had at least 3 of each, one model 60 I bought in 1975. I don't know how far you are shooting, but the last model 60 that I bought new 5 years ago will put all 14 shots from it's magazine inside a 1/2 inch at 50 yards with several different brands of high velocity ammo.the trigger on that model 60 is a 2 stage that breaks clean, crisp, and light. I also have a Marlin.22 mag bolt action that I purchased new around the same time as the model 60, and that rifle is possibly even more accurate! Both have Leupold 3x9x40 rimfire scopes. Those 2 rifles have quickly become my favorite rifles. I used to own a very accurate, high dollar Kimber that was extremely accurate and my cheap little model 60 would out shoot that rifle!

Yep I agree the model 60 has wonderful accuracy. Mine is a old one it holds 18 shots and was bought in 1976 . It was my wife’s gun and both sons learned to shoot with it. It’s been shot a lot over the years and I am amazed by its accuracy. Not many rifles could hold up like it has. Thanks for watching.

I have both as well and that 10/22 takes any ammo I throw in it and performs really well. My Marlin definitely has preferences on ammo so it doesn't go out as much. Like yours, my Marlin goes back a few decades, but I remember the Marlin always seemed to shoot like that but dad always told me not to blame the gun, blame the shooter when I'd say "maybe the ammo?" lol

Yep my 10/22 is like that also . The only thing it doesn’t run is the CCI Quiet ammo and that’s only because it’s so low velocity it won’t cycle the bolt . Have a good day and thanks for watching.

I will tell all of you that a Marlin model 60 shoots very well with Aguila Super Extra lead round nose ammo.
I had one 10/22 and it was pretty accurate and reliable, but I am hooked on Marlin. I do have a Ruger American Rimfire bolt action 22lr and a Savage Mark ii f, but mostly I stick with Marlin.

I have both, but the Marlin has had 200 rounds through it, while the Ruger has had tens of thousands
Both are excellent, but I like the 10/22 better

I shoot my 10/22 more also, but it’s mostly because the Marlin Glenfield is a older rifle and has a lot of sentimental value to us. I agree they’re great guns. Thanks for watching

I can only go by MY experiences and out of the box, my 4 Marlin 60s as well as my Model 795 (with ammo they prefer) were more accurate out to 100 yards... I also have 4 10/22s and a 10/22 Charger pistol... these are the only duplicates in .22 I have besides 2 M&P 15-22s.... Not all my Marlins like the same ammo and same with my 10/22s... You can have two identical rifles come off the same assembly line and they can prefer different ammos...

It’s amazing how they all shoot different with the same ammo. I like the 60 and the 10/22 equally. They are making some fantastic 22 rifles these days , Savage is making some very accurate 22 rifles and at a very reasonable price. Thanks for watching 👍

the longer barrel on the marlin prefers a bit snappier ammo, i own both as well and with the lower velocity rounds the ruger seems a smidge better but switching to the zippier stuff the marlin turns the table and out shoots my ruger. They both have to be cleaned, i keep my rifles clean but i see alot of people never or rarely ever clean these and start to have issues. My ruger isn't a fan of the cci hyper ammo like velocitor and stingers, but likes just about any standard or high velocity 40gr stuff. My marlin is very accurate with cci stingers. My ruger likes plain ol remington golden bullet as where my marlin likes the winchester and cci hotter stuff, to me these rifles are a draw.

I've got both as well, mine also holds 18 and the Marlin is definitely picky on what it eats, went with my dad to Sears to pick it out at 13, lot's of memories, the 10/22 is more accurate as well. Thanks 👍

Yep they all had 18 round magazines until some stupid politicians decided that 3 extra rounds of 22 LR was just to dangerous for us to have. Lol. Thanks for watching

I also, have each. My Marlin (1977) will not cycle Federal Bulk. Ruger will. Have found that my Marlin likes Remington Thunderbolts.

I have a couple of both. The 10/22 are by far more reliable and will run any ammo. The marlins seem a tad bit more accurate but nothing to write home about

Well i love my Ruger i have 5 of them, but for 22LR it's Marlin all ways started with a Marlin model 60 in 1972 then a Marlin model 75C 1980 and then a Marlin model 99 M1 1989 and then in 2005 i found Marlin model 989 M2 for $110 bucks and it look like it was new Marlin, i still have the 75C 99 M1 989 M2 still shoot them ,

You’re got a great collection there. I wish I’d have collected more Marlins 22’s along the way. I don’t see any on the used racks anymore. I know Ruger owns Marlin now and I doubt they’ll ever make the rimfire rifles again. Thanks for watching
