I think only distance is the important difference to European classics. I think also that the crit racing format has a lot to do how streets developed different in America in comparison to Europe. A race in the city makes not much sense in a mayor out of cities in Europe. Also doing a crit race is an amazing solution to make a race easier to organize without having to close 200 km of road. At the same time many races find place in Europe without having to block the streets because the driving culture is more respectful in some European countries. This is an amazing topic worth of a full video, maybe you take interest in it
Did my first crit in the netherlands last year... it was great but a hell at the same time (wrong cat oops) training hard before the season starts again here
EJ I’ve been a critic and even unsubscribed. This video, cut hair, different approach, not so “bro” might be the ticket. far more enjoyable and I even resubscribed. One word, don’t force content for contents sake. Best…
Aye thank you so much. Received a lot of feedback like this. Hence why I changed the video approach for 2024. Thank you for the support! More to come soon!
is it me or do most crit races have like no elevation gain. i would like to see more races that have big climbs, i think it would make it more dynamic and the big guys with big sprints wouldnt dominate all the time. like if you take some of the best racers like sepp kuss, quintana, even pidcock, they would lose most of these crit races because theyre strengths arent suited for this style of racing. how do american climbers even get started and show case their skills for the world tour teams? i must be missing something
Many Crits have a few climbs in them and the climbers have the advantage depending how long the climb is, but in the crit It takes a toll on the heavier guys. In most of them are the sprinters. Not all of us can become ballerinas
That's called a road race and those unfortunately are nearly non-existent in the US anymore :(. Thus, it's super impressive to see the number of North America riders in the Pro Peloton.
@@HarryTzianakisTheGodOfSpeed yeah generally little guys can't tt or sprint and they're not good pulling or leading out. A few rollers isn't hugely consequential to an outcome. Maybe the American climbers just goto Europe to try out and leave crit racing alone all together.
Thanks for spreading the awhereness about crit racing brother.
Thanks for the explaination, I was confused since last year what this channel was all about. Now I get it.
Great video brother! Thank you for all that you are doing to build up the cycling community and spreading knowledge to the masses
Keep pumping out the videos my man, love it.
This was very helpful for the many getting into crit racing.

@@EBcycling right I'm wondering how they get there if they're not winning over here and don't have much race experience.
