Hi Mike, I am new to most of this but I must compliment you on the GREAT job you do with all your videos. You are very thorough and your explanations and step by step approach make the instruction/demonstration easy to understand. I have subscribed to your TH-cam channel and look forward to watching future videos and learning as much as I can. I just bought a custom (built by LaMere Cycle) DIODE E-MTB with the Shimano E8000 mid drive motor and some pretty expensive parts. Your videos have already helped me make some decisions on what maintenance tasks I will do myself and which ones I will leave to the professional bike shop. Whatever you do today, give yourself a "BIG" pat on the back for producing what I think are some of the most informative and thorough MTB videos I have ever watched! THANKS! John from Midland, Ontario, Canada
A huge THANK YOU from my son and I for making this video! Thanks to your detailed process, we installed a new fork and everything was on the money. Excellent job making this
Mike, this is awesome. Keep up the great work! I do have a suggestion though - if you look at other good tutorials, you'll always see a video divided into sections. Just an idea. And as I already said, great video!
1 flaw though, when you were pounding that star nut into the fork, metal dust should come down pouring to the stanchions, you might want to use a rag and place it under the steerer tube to catch the metal dust while pounding the star nut. I know this because I experienced this when I installed the star nut on to my fox 34 sc fork.
Great advice! That wouldn't hurt, but I've never see metal flakes come out from pounding in a star nut. If you cleaned the steer tube after the cutting/filing like I did in the video then you shouldn't have any leftover metal flakes to fly anywhere.
This was a great video, but I have one question. When you were discussing how to mark the steer tube for cutting, there was a break and you showed two marks - one at the top of the spacer and I'm presuming the other was with the spacer removed. Why cut the tube 2.5mm short?
You want the fork to be slightly shorter than the top spacer. In this case since he was using a 5mm spacer he scratched a line under the spacer so that he had a reference to have the best idea of where to cut. If you were using something like a 10mm spacer, you would just scratch a line around the top of the spacer and then measure down about 2.5mm to make your cut. In the case of the 10mm spacer it does not have to be perfect at 2.5mm because you have more room. In the case of the 5mm spacer on top you want to be pretty dang sure, because there is not much room left over.
Great vid man! very thorough install! Wish you would have put these out months ago before I struggled installing a Suntour Raidon Air fork on my girlfriends bike!
U have a different approach to teaching :), the fun one. All you've shown me in your videos i already know, but its fun to watch. You don't leave anything out and you're really teaching. And a nice workshop 2. All best
Thanks man! Yeah I realized that even though there are many tutorials on TH-cam but nobody actually shows every single step and the tricks/tips along the way that helps everything turn out perfect!

Very very well put together and thorough! Love the channel man! Saw on your Instagram u might take a month or two and really put some work into the channel.. I think it's a great idea! The channel has sooo much potential man!🤙🤙
I can tuna fork but I cannot tuna fish! LOL. Great job on the explanation and your step by step procedures. Nice to know there are alternatives if you do not have shop tools on hand. Like the tube cutter. I use that when cutting conduit when running electrical. Great and handy tool for precision cuts!
@@TheLostCo Yeah, and another electrician trick. That rotating tool you use to scrap off the burrs on the inside- You can also use a needle nose or channel locks pliers by sticking it in the pipe nose first and rotating. The outside of the pliers will scrape off the sharp inside edges. Hope this helps!
Really Really like this video... cant say it enough! Pro Tip’s to the Max!!! I’m ready to build a bike shop now.... well... maybe not just yet but you got me inspired to take on some projects of my own! Yewwww!

Hey! I love your Videos👌🏼. I've got a problem with my dropper post (ks lev si). It doesn't come out all the way, there are 1-2 cm of play up and down. The cable tension is correct, as well as the air pressure. I've heard the problem would disappear after a service, but the post is only 2 months old and the problem appeared after 2 weeks or so... Have your heard of this problem and may have a easy solution to solve it or do I realy have to service the whole post? Thanks for any answeres, I really appreciate it!😄
Ahh darn that sucks! It sounds like the cartridge is bad. If you sit on it, and you sag into the seatpost's travel then there is something wrong internally. Unfortunately, KS has a horrible customer service setup, but if you set up an RA for warranty on their website then they can generally fix the seatpost within 1-2 weeks. Now's the time to do it during winter! If they give you problems and want to charge you between $100-$200, then I would switch to a different seatpost such as the OneUp Dropper Post since they actually answer the phone and their post only costs $200 new!
hey where can i get 37mm forks? i had a 36 on my 2019 patrol but i sold it and now i want to buy another one cause i miss it. How can i order a marzocchi one?
You sure you want grease between the bearings and the frame ? You want the bearing to do the work. You dont want to chance the outside of the bearings turning against the frame . That could wallow out the frame and compromise the fit.
PRO TIP: Before filing, stuff a paper towel all the way into the center of you headset and take an old T-shirt and punch a small hole through it and stick your fork headset through the hole and drape it over your fork body. When done turn upside down and remove. This will prevent any shavings from getting onto the critical parts of your fork.

@@alpinesender1569 If they're super beat up and you want more stopping power, then I would recommend upgrading for sure!
